Aug 30, 2007My question is regarding gaining access to my Linksys wireless router configuration page. I recently turned my Linksys WRT54GL wireless router into an access point and since I have done so I am no longer able to access the configuration page for my router.
The problem that I am encountering is not one of connectivity, but rather entry. Prior to turning my wireless router into an access point I was able to connect to the router by means of my browser (192.168.1.1). I am still able to connect to the router, but whenever I type in a user name and password the router just simply does not recognize the information. I have tried resetting the router multiple times, but I am still denied access to my router despite having the correct user name and password. I have version 1.1 of the Linksys WRT54GL wireless router and have the latest firmware.

Nov 1, 2012How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

Apr 25, 2011I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

May 10, 2013I'm using a WRT120N and have had no problems connecting most wireless devices, but a Nintendo DS and DSi owned by my family are unable to connect to the access point. My wireless security mode is disabled, network mode is set to mixed, SSID is the same as on the DS/DSi, Channel width is 20Mhz only, Standard channel is set to 6, but I tried using channel 1 and 11 without success, SSID broadcast is enabled.
I've tried every work-about I could find and always get the 51300 error code, and am at a loss as to what else I can try to get the devices to connect to the access point.

Feb 26, 2012I'm having trouble setting up my WAP 4410n. I can connect to it wirelessly, I can ping it, but somehow when I try to connect to the admin intervace (in my case 192.168.1.36) I get the following error message:
"The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"
My I shut down my firewall, restarted my router, removed cookies and cleaned cache, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Jul 25, 2012I want to configure and WAP610N to work as an Access Point (it was configured by previous administrator some time ago): free hotspot open, LAN secured by password. What makes my last 2 days horrible is that I can't even get access to Administration Panel. Used Cisco Online Support Articles, used User Manual, tried many ways to connect without luck.First of all I've connected LAN cable directly from PC to AP and Windows stuck at "Identyfying State", after some hours "arp -a" command shows me only IP's of my LAN, no MAC of the AP.Tried to reset settings to the factory default - when on push for 30 seconds reset button, power diode blinks, ap starts and settings are the same - still connects to the company's LAN.Wireless networks is default 'linksys' without password I can connect to it and get the internet, after pushing fast connection button it changes to secured "Linksys-<some letters and numbers>" to which I can't connect.I can't even get IP on wired and wireless connection - DHCP don't work? I don't know what IP to set manually. How can I get access to Administration Panel? How to reset this thing?

Feb 19, 2011My Linksys Range Extender died. So I bought a WAP54G thinking that I could use it as a repeater to extent the range of the signal from my router to the other wireless PCs in the house.
1st floor:
PC1 connected to a WRT54G v.5 router
PC2 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter
Laptop connected to PC1 royter via internal wireless
2nd floor
PC3 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter
PC4 connected to PC1 router via USB network adapter
The main goal is to set up the WAP54G in between PC1 and the other PCs to extent the range of the signal particularly to the 2nd floor PCs.The instructions for configuring the WAP54G are fairly straightforward, but the first issue I run into is not being able to connect to the WAP54G web setup. I am using the following instructions:

once I configure or setup the WAP54G through another PC as a repeater, will I be able to disconnect it from the PC and use it as a standalone (e.g., plugging only the power in and leaving it in my kitchen or a hallway) to extend the range of the signal? Or does it have to stay connected to PC1 and does PC1 always have to be on for this WAP54G to act as a repeater?

Aug 29, 2009I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

In fact, previously a relative's laptop, also running Windows 7, was also unable to connect at my location.The access point has no security enabled. It shows up in the list of available wireless networks. I've configured the wireless adapter properly (static ip). Yet connection fails. Windows suggests that I power cycle the access point and try again. If I use the same configuration for the wired connection, it works. I fill in the password field... and get into config...
So I think it could be a bug with static IP... I'll try on the wireless security... select "manual"... change nothing (leave default value) click save... wait a while... connect on the DHCP ip, return to the wireless page... and lost a lot of time since nothing is saved.
Connect Old Linksys Router As A Wired (and Maybe Wireless) Access Point
Oct 12, 20111. Just got a new DLINK Xtreme N DIR-825 Router. Directly connected this to the internet.
2. Currently, the Linksys WRT54G (1st Generation) is connected to the DLINK by an Ethernet cable to one of the 4 ports on the back.
3. The Linksys further splits the signal to another 2 computers and a NAS by hardwire.
4. The internet is still getting through to all the computers, but the computers are not able to access the NAS or each other.
5. I can't seem to open the WRT54G's access (192.168.1.1) because (I thin) the new DLINK uses a local set of IPs that are 192.168.0.1xx.
I can login to the NAS using its IP, and I can see it on the 'Network Places' of the computers ,but when I try to connect, it says the drive is moved, etc. etc.I use a variety of computers / O.S's on this system: XP (2) hardwired, Win 7 (2) hard wired, Win 7 (1) wireless, Mac OS X Snow Leopard (1) Wireless, plus various other wireless devices (phones,Wii, etc.).
NAS is a Synology DS411+
1) Get logged into my Linksys
2) Get the NAS accepted by other computers on the network.

Nov 29, 2011I just purchased a Toshiba Thrive tablet and I can't get it to connect to my wireless router. My router (WRVS4400N) works flawlessly with my laptop and desktop. I have spoken to a Cisco tech rep and they assured me that there is not a compatibility problem with the WPA-Personal setting I am using. When I speak to a Toshiba tech they tell me I have a router conflict. To verify this I went to my local Starbucks and low and behold it logged right on with no problem (The Starbucks system was not a protected system). This confirms to me that there is a conflict between the router and the tablet.

Mar 3, 2011For two years I had a 2-Wire home portal from AT&T for my DSL line. I also have DirecTV with a DVR that has an ethernet port to download video on demand from the internet. I bought a Linksys WAP54G to use as a pass-thru to the DVR and it has worked perfectly for the entire time. I remember that the setup was a nightmare, so I saved the settings in case I lost them.
when I connected the new E1000 router to a Netopia DSL modem, I decided to reconfigure the WAP to use the new router. I recovered the configuration file and the only thing that I had to change was the MAC address for the new router which I used with the Linksys' web-based setup tool. I used the network discovery and selected the new router. All of the settings including the router name, default gateway, and static address for the WAP54G were the same.But, when I go to the setup page for the DirecTV DVR and perform a network test, I get an OK connect to the local network, but an error22 and fail to connect to the Internet. Of course, going to the help page on the DVR for that error only gives the lame troubleshooting such as, is the router plugged in? Is the ethernet cable connected? etc.
I know that when I had to set it up with the original 2-wire portal, I had a lot of tweaking to do in the advanced wireless settings. I'm trying to setup using the WAP54G as a pass-thru bridge for DirecTV.

Oct 22, 2011I have a WRT54g with Tomato firmware. I am trying to set up a WAP54g to extend the range but while that access point does show up as a network, nothing can connect to it. I already have the router's MAC address put in the WAP. I think the problem is that I have Tomato on the router and that conflicts with the default firmware on the WAP. Range isn't really the problem, I just need to strengthen the signal in a specific area that it's not getting to because of walls. I can't even switch to previous versions of Tomato anymore. I may have just bricked it.Some facts about my setup-My modem has default settings: PPPoE connection with a DHCP server enabled.-I set the router to use DHCP and put it in "Access Point" mode.
-The WAP is set to repeater mode and it was set to Static IP configuration by default. I simply followed the instructsions here: url....
-There are three different MAC addresses: The WAN, LAN/router, and the Wireless. I put the Wireless MAC address in the access point. Is that correct?
-My desktop is wired directly to the router and it has a static IP outside the router DHCP's IP range-UPnP is enabled by default in the modem and router, but I'd like to try to get this working rather than buy all new equipment.

Oct 16, 2012I have AT&T Uverse which provides Internet for my home. The wireless capability of this router is pretty bad, I don't get good/reliable wireless reception upstairs in my office. The solution was to buy a Cisco E2500 and add it as an access point upstairs.
I have the E2500 LAN port connected to the LAN port of my uverse router downstairs. DHCP is turned off on the E2500. I have my office PC wired into the E2500. The home PC works fine, its getting DHCP from the uverse router downstairs and connects and good speeds. The problem comes with my wireless devices trying to connect to the E2500.
I should mention that yesterday when i bought this, all worked fine. This morning when I came into my office none of the wireless devices would connect to the E2500 at all. But as soon as I remove the cable that connects the E2500 to the uverse router downstairs they will connect via wireless but of course not get an IP address since that is disabled.
I have factory reset the E2500 and uverse router several times and am getting no where. what could be causing the wireless devices to not connect at all?
