View 1 Replieswhen moving throughout our building my laptop will not switch between AP’s unless it loses its connection with its existing AP then it will see the other AP that is closer and connect to it.
For example, I start at one end of the building where it connects to AP#1 at 270Mbps, if I then slowly go to another section of the building, the speed will drop all the way down to 24Mbps, but it will not switch over to AP#2 unless I turn off AP#1 then the laptop instantly switches to AP#2 at 160Mbps. Again the same behavior if I start walking back the other direction. The laptop will not disconnect from AP#2 until the signal is lost.
With my 2.4GHz wireless 802.11g AP’s (WAP200) I can roam around the building and the laptop will happily jump between AP’s always staying with the faster of the two available.
Settings are all pretty basic.
Mode is set to 5GHz 802.11n Channel is set to AutoA single SSID is running WPA Personal using wpa2, CCMP (AES)Channel is set to AutoChannel Bandwidth is set to 40MHzClustering is enabled and the AP’s see each other just fine.
I'm configuring a catalyst 3500XL, but I'm having a problem, when I connect an ip phone it works just fine but if I connect a computer to the pc port in the phone the computer doesn't get an ip address. The switch is configure with two vlans Voice and Data and is connected from fa0/24 to a Catalyst 3560 fa0/46. I did configure both ports as trunk.

We have one printer 10.3.0.206 in the VLAN 3 and want to allow student server 10.2.0.253 in the VLAN 2 to access the printer. How can we configure access-list? Here is current configuration.
ip access-list extended publicaccess

permit ip any host 10.2.0.253
permit tcp any any established log
deny ip 10.3.0.0 0.0.0.255 10.1.0.0 0.0.0.255

I'm having an issue routing between vlans. I have vlan 1, and 2. I want to ping something on vlan 2, from vlan 1. I cannot ping from a computer on vlan 1 to a computer on vlan 2. I can ping each computer from the ASA 5505. I get an error on the ASA when I try to ping from the computers. The error is Failed to locate egress interface for UDP from voice:192.168.0.199/137 to 192.168.1.200/137. I can't understand why it even mentions IP 192.168. 1.200/ 137... I reset the unit configuring it from scratch and still no go. I have no given a static route to the out yet.. I need to get inter-vlan routing working first. [code]

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

We have a daisy-chain like network at my work involving various cobbled together parts such as Print Servers and switches. Today a random computer has appeared on our network with the name USER-U40PVRNHWL. We do broadcast a wireless signal, but it is password protected. I have done a complete sweep of the building and there are no extra pieces of hardware physically connected into our network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am setting up a NAS on my home network. My computer sees it on the network and accesses it without a problem. My wife's computer, however, only sees it on the network, but will not access it. (Both computers are Win 7 machines.) It will access it if I type in the ip address of it, but that is beyond my wife's patience level for her to do each time she wants to access the storage. She can, however, access the shared folders on my computer and vice versa. Both computers go through the same router. The NAS is connected to another router attached to the main router (extending it since we ran out of slots on the main one). Both routers are Linksys (1 is E3000).

Me and my brother have 2 computers ( 1 MSI , 1 DELL )There is a problem with obtaining IP addresses. When I connect to WIFI, it works with no problems ... I get IP 192.168.1.x ... But when my brother wants to join WIFI, he gets address 169....But sometimes it is working for him and somtimes not.We solve this problem with turn off and turn on wifi router. But there is still same problem, now my brother gets IP address 192.... and I get 169... so it looks like wifi can give only 1 IP but dhcp is configured for more IP ... We also have 1 desktop computer which is connected with ethernet cable and there is no problem with connection... only wireless problem.

Both computers can always connect to the internet. The laptop can (almost always) print from the usb printer connected to the desktop. Only on about 30% of occasions can I see the other computer in Windows Explorer or the equivalent, and therefore cannot access all the files. I can usually ping the other computer by ip and get a reply. I can rarely ping the other computer successfully by name unless I ping by ip first.
