We are going to FL for the winter and Belkin told me I would have to reprogram my N-150 with the new internet provider. They send me directions which are very involved.
Can I just purchase another router down there and install it. Thinking my computer will then pick up what ever router is using the internet where Iam ?
I have a working VPN with a WRVS4400N Wireless N VPN Router. There is a Windows XP computer on the network with a static IP address and a shared folder that I need to access with QuickBooks across the VPN.I can connect to the router; but only doing that is of little use. Once my VPN connection is made,how do I find the computer on the other side and map a drive to it or get it with QuickBooks? I need to do this with a Windows Vista Computer and a Windows XP computer at remote locations. Windows Vista seems to be different than XP in that it will not let me type a network address in Explorer without adding an HTTP://. Network places does not seem to work either.

I see "connected" but can't get online, and each time I try to ping the gateway it times out. The routers are brand new, so I can only think that the computer just doesn't want to work with them.

The computer uses the default gateway of the router interface it is connected to. A ping to the default gateway repplies positively. A ping to the second interface to the same router goes successful but a ping to the first interface of the second router gives the "request time out" respond and a ping to the second interface of the second router gives the "destination host unreachable" respond.

I need the static ip to connect to a private network for my new job but cant connect to that network. I went to whatsmyip and found that my old dynamic ip is still showing up externally, it looks like my ip4 is using the dynamic as a preferred. My question is do i need to manually change the network connection on my LAN and wireless connection under ipv4 to change it from automatically obtain TO use the following address and put in my static? View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new laptop today, unfortunately, it doesnt have a Firewire port and i want to use it for video editing.But i figured no problem really, i'll just capture on my desktop that i have been previously using to edit on, using Premiere pro to edit, but HDVsplit to capture, and then transfer the files over to the laptop using a USB or possibly trying to setup a home network.But when transferring files from the desktop onto the laptop via the router using ethernet cables, the speed is about 250 kb/s and when its the other way around, from the laptop to the desktop, the speed is 10 MB/s! View 1 Replies View RelatedMy current network consists of 4 computers, 3 windows 7, 1 Windows Home Server 2003. All are wired to a gigabit unmanaged switch which is connected to a Netgear WNR200V2 router. The router is connected to the cable modem. I replaced the Netgear WNR2000v2 router with a Cisco RV110W firewall which i had preconfigured using another computer. The 3 Windows 7 PC's connected up with no problems. The WHS 2003 computer has no internet access. All 4 computers are visible on the lan and the 3 Win 7 PC can access the internet. I've tried accessing the internet by URL and IP from the WHS with no luck. All computers are assigned static IP's. I've checked all my settings, turned off the firewall in both the WHS and the RV110W with no change. If I plug the Netgear router inplace of the Cisco, all computers including the WHS have internet access. Has to be a setting somewhere in the Cisco router that's blocking the access. IP's for the 3 Win7's are 192.168.1.40, 41,42. Fot the WHS 192.168.1.76.

It seems that my computer gets assigned a temporary ip automatically and then there will be times when I get "kicked out" and my computer doesn't get connected to the internet. Sometimes for few minutes and sometimes for hours.
No idea what happens there but could be that there are no ips left to assign to my computer and someone else gets the ip address.Anyway I'm trying to find out if I can configure my computer with a static ip.
The maximum number of dhcp users was changed from 50 to 100 by me. IDK if that means that I can assign a static ip from 1 to 100 but say I pick a number 160 so the ip would be xxx.xxx.x.160.

I have a RVS4000 router, and using Quick VPN client (latest version, 1.4.2.1?) on a computer with Windows Vista. I can connect to the router, and I can see computers, and drives on the network. When I click on a drive or computer, I can't connect to the devices. Local IP address are 192.168.1.x, remote is 192.168.2.x.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a new WRVS400n recently because it had Gigabit speed, wireless n and a built in VPN server. The device works perfect except for the Quick VPN client. I'm a system engineer so I thought I could set it up quite easy just like any other device I configured in the past. Painfull but it isn't like this.
I set up the VPN on the WRVS4400n and generated a certificate. I saved both the client and admin certificate to my pc, I gave them a name to easily make up the difference between both of them. When placing the certificate in the installed QuickVPN folder, it doesn't seem to get recognised by the QuickVPN software. When I try to connect, it says 'Server's certificate doens't exist on your local computer'. I guess the naming convention must meet some kind of format, is that correct? If so, this should have been described in the documentation.
Besides that I checked if the required ports used by the VPN server are open on the public port of the device, that is the case. So It seems I'm quite close to get it working.
The version of QuickVPN I used is 1.4.2.1. The WRVS4400n has the latest firmware loaded.
I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.
