Our computer is sending but not receiving packets. We've tried 3 different wi-fi adapters, and that wasn't the problem. We have no idea what's wrong? It won't pick up any wireless signals by the way, and it works fine while connected via Ethernet.

I have a laptop computer with windows 7 and im having trouble connecting to my wireless internet. It says that im receiving packets but not sending them. I have tried to troubleshoot the problem and it says that the default gateway is not available. I am not sure what is happening with it, it started having problems while at a starbucks, and now the wireless and the LAN is not working on it.

Alright, so we have about six computers on average all on at the same time, working just fine, last night one of the laptops just, stopped working, saying there is no internet access, With every attempt it doesn't send any information. When I disconnect it from the wireless, then reconnect it, it immediately receives packets but won't send any.

A specific switch port which happens to be part of a 2 switch 3750 Switch Stack is seeing multiple CDP packets from 3 extra switch port interfaces that are not directly connected. Noteworthy is that the far end devices have the correct CDP entries and I physically confirmed at least two of those connections that lead to the switch "upstream to the culprit switch". Tricky part is that its production so room for maneuvering is limited. At some point I disabled all Ports save for the real uplink and the problem momentarily disappeared. Re-enable the interfaces problem resurfaces. Is there an explanation, technique to eliminate the culprit with minimal disruption?

I'm using Cisco 2100 cable modem. It worked fine until some time later where the Data Send & Receive LED's stopped blinking. A man came to check if the cable was the problem by replacing it, but it wasn't. He claims it might be related to the laptop. I have tried several times restarting it. (I'm using mobile broadband) I would really like fast rather than slow internet ( I was limited so now it's slow but free)

I have a home network that does not connect to the internet, but which I use to play games on, or did before this issue happened by.For years my PC's and friends ones had been able to connect into the network with little or no problems, but a few months ago my tower PC just stopped picking anybody or anything up on the network and I have tried tons of different resolutions to solve this.Anyway, the other day I bought a new HD and installed XP SP3 again on it, and for about fifteen minutes I could connect to my Vista Laptop and share files and play games, then it stopped.Next day the same again and off and on till now when its been down for the last week.I have also now bought a new network card - no difference - and disabled the on board network card through the BIOS - no difference.I have done a Winsock repair, replaced automatic IP addresses with manual ones, and countless other remedies which have not solved diddly.

I have a Asus EEE PC 900 laptop running Windows XP Home. I DO NOT use a modem or router. I connect wireless to someones network (which of course i dont know who it is or how far it is from me) I connect to a Linksys unsecured network. I get good to very good (some times excellent connection from it) The name of my adapter is: Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter. Two days ago i was on the internet, and all of a sudden i Lost service ( usually when this happens i wait it out and it comes back)But it hasn't.So I'm checking through my settings and i noticed that im sending way more network packets than receiving. Last i checked it was around 40,000 sent and 5 received. So I wait and wait and wait and the most packets it would go up to is 90 while as sending is still in the thousands. It also says im successfully connected with good to very good connection status (but yet i cannot surf the web because i do not have enough network packets)
I tried different locations in my house (that didnt work)I uninstall and reinstalled my network adaptor (that didnt work)I turned off and on the wireless switch(that didn't work). Im wondering if this has something to do with my laptop or the other persons network? how can I increase the received network packets?

I followed their instructions and set up my broadband. connection is working fine through the LAN, and I can connect to the wifi on my phone but when I try to connect my laptop via wifi it says it's connected but I can't access the internet and it looks like it's sending packets but not receiving.

Everything is fine except that whenever I am receiving packets, there is a corresponding upstream of packets which is subsequently slowing my download speed.I should be getting ~600kbps, but I am instead getting ~200kbps.The ratio of packets sent/received is almost 1:1.5, and of course when your upload bandwidth is being maxed it starts cutting your download speed.

So this is somewhat of a strange issue. I have a program called PeerGuardian 2 and it allows me to simplistically see the packets being sent to and from devices on my home network. It's showing that my computer is sending packets to random IP addresses, some of them reoccur, on a massive range of ports all going in order.
(example)
From 192.168.1.253:6812 - To 74.120.148.2:80
From 192.168.1.253:6813 - To 74.120.148.2:80
From 192.168.1.253:6814 - To 74.120.148.2:80
From 192.168.1.253:6815 - To 74.120.148.2:80
From 192.168.1.253:6816 - To 74.120.148.2:80
From 192.168.1.253:6817 - To 74.120.148.2:80
This happens in spurts and it usually sends 20-40 to varying IP addresses in a matter of a few seconds. I asked my ISP if they understood what this was and it stumped the technician I spoke with. I also have run multiple virus/malware scans and everything comes up clean.

I can't connect to the internet. When I double click Local Area Network under Network connections it says it has both sent and received packets. It is set to automatically acquire an ip address. The computer is connected to a router. I can ping 192.168.1.1 but when I try to reach my router's settings it says page can't be loaded. I tried to hook the computer up directly to the modem and connect that way. It said it was connected and it was sending packets but I still couldn't do anything. I've turned off the windows firewall. The computer is Windows XP SP1

I have a computer that is directly connected to my internet broadband service via my router and modem. From that computer, by use of a router (of course), I have a wireless connection to another desktop computer in my home, about 90 feet away. From that remote wireless internet broadband connection, I'd like to connect to yet a third computer. That third computer will be 200 more feet away. I have a direct Cat5 wire from the wireless computer desktop to that point 200 feet away. I'm thinking of adding a computer at that point. So, that raises my question: Can a computer receiving a wireless signal, then relay or transmit that signal to another computer that is "hard wired" to it via a Cat5 wire?

The university I attend doesn't allow modems and routers, but me and my roommates desperately need wifi for our devices, otherwise they are being wasted sitting around. today I set up an ad hoc connection on my roommates laptop, but he brings his laptop places and when he's out, we have no wifi. I have my desktop computer, and I can leave it on all the time and I never leave with it, so I'd love to set up wifi on it, since it will be so much more convenient.
I brought my router from home, and ive gotten it to send out my computer's internet connection, but it brings me to the school's registration page, which I can not use, since routers are not allowed. Is there a way to use my desktop's ethernet connection and send out that internet connection through my router (it also needs to bypass the school network, somehow fooling it that my router is my computer (im guessing))? I have 2 ethernet jacks on my computer by the way.

I have a working VPN with a WRVS4400N Wireless N VPN Router. There is a Windows XP computer on the network with a static IP address and a shared folder that I need to access with QuickBooks across the VPN.I can connect to the router; but only doing that is of little use. Once my VPN connection is made, how do I find the computer on the other side and map a drive to it or get it with QuickBooks? I need to do this with a Windows Vista Computer and a Windows XP computer at remote locations. Windows Vista seems to be different than XP in that it will not let me type a network address in Explorer without adding an HTTP://. Network places does not seem to work either.
