View 1 RepliesI am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

I don't understand how this is, all the settings on the router are default.econd (more important issue for me): My friends come over often and play games (WoW, Diablo 3, Xbox LIVE etc)... View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear CGD24G Wireless Gateway and a Gateway MA8 laptop with after-market Windows 7 (Vista got a virus, went ahead and upgraded.)Now, when I download 100 MB files on my Xbox 360 (Which is wired to the modem) it will be downloaded in a couple minutes, or less. The other computers in my house (There are plenty, and even more that come and go.) get a blazing internet connection, and most of them are wireless. Now this computer, which had an extremely quick connection as well all of a sudden dropped off, while the rest of the computers remain fast.I've gone to Speedtest.net before and after this occurred and my speed before was around 12 mb/s, and one time around 4 AM was even upward of 25 mb/s, all of these tests were performed multiple times on different server locations. I JUST did the speedtest, and it came back with .4 mb/s, and the UL speed was 2.0. I honestly can't remember what I averaged with it prior to the problem, but it was definitely higher as well
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco WRT120N Router and a Cisco Valet AM10 wireless adapter. Almost every time the computer reboots, I loose my network and I have to redo the AM10 setup. The AM10 is the only device that loses the connection, my lap top and printer do not lose the connection.
Problem 2: Everytime I upplug and replug the AM10 a window pops up saying I need to check the drive for errors but none
are found.
Problem 3: I downloaded the AM10 install program, Downloadable.Setup.AM10.1.2.10148.2. It does not work. If I try to run it Iget an error message that the setup canot be completed and to call in for support.
Problem 4: When I can get it working is shows that it is Wireless Connection 5. Why 5 and not 1? Where are the other 4?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently changed my wireless router settings to accommodate an old computer running Windows XP that did not have the WPA2 security capabilities. I changed the security settings on my Netgear router to WPA and TKIS. I also have several other devices (tablets, readers) and three other computers all running Windows 7. I had no problems with the settings on all but one of the Windows 7 computers. I am absolutely certain that I have entered the security information correctly just as I did on every other device, but this one computer says, "the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen wired to the router I consistently get 10meg up and down, so the connection itself is fine. When I use wireless on my laptop, I get around 0.1meg down and 10meg up. The router is fine because I still get 10meg up and down testing on my iPhone, and the laptop is fine because I get 8meg up and down on my friend's wireless network. There must be something specific that's incompatible between my laptop and my router. I've already tried changing the channel, used inSSIDer to pick unoccupied channels (4+8) with no occupied channels either side. Using N-only mode, channel bonding, tried protected mode on and off, QoS on and off.

I want to be able to use my computer wireless without any usbs since it goes faster and I also use plenty of usb so I dont have the ability to always use a usb for my wireless adapter.
