The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.

She can ping my IP Address, but I cannot ping hers. We both have full access to the Internet. We are using the same workgroup, and both computers have file and printer sharing enabled and IPv6 addresses and DNS server addresses selected automatically. The problem appears to be with my computer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless network. For some reason my computer seemed to change regarding the settings, and I can't figure out what to do. Usually I can figure things out when the settings go wrong. I have a broadband connection, where it seems to want me to enter a phone number; I have a "LAN or High Speed" connection. Normally I click "Create New Connection", but it doesn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo recently I moved my modem (DLS Gateway) from one room to another. In doing this I unplugged the Ethernet from one computer and plug it into a new one. There isn't a problem with the new computer being wired, but the one that used to be wired won't find my wireless at all. It won't even find other networks it just keeps saying that it's not plugged in to the Ethernet. My question is how do I get the computer so that it can find wireless networks.

I have another computer hooked up to the same network that does just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just moved apartments and am trying to connect to the internet. The problem is that I can see the network I need to connect to and I am putting in the correct network key but it just won't let me connect to it. There are three other computers using the wireless so it isn't the modem... and my iPhone is working on it. I am wondering if it has something to do with the IP... I do not really understand any computer stuff but I am desperate for this to be fixed because I am in the middle of mid-terms.

I've even reinstalled Windows 7 on the machine from scratch the problem is still there. The internet goes VERY slow like 10 minutes a page sort of slow. Almost feels like its being choked but from what i can see theres no programs taking bandwidth etc.I've searched all over the net and can't find anything. I can give any information needed. The machine is currently on wireless but the wireless signal is great as i use other device on it in the same area and there perfect.

I have two other desktops hardwired and two laptops on the wireless that work fine. The two laptops are in the same room as the Clear 'modem/router', while the Win7 box is not, if that matters. The Win7 box worked in that location when I was on the cable and had a separate wireless router. The box that will not connect, does show that the wireless connection is availableand the adapter shows to be working properly in Device Manager.

Unfortunately, the other desktop I really need to make wireless is having difficulties. The computer never shows the message that a new device is discovered/installed. The adapter shows up under hardware devices and functioning properly but this is not the case. I installed the driver from the included CD but when I use Windows to troubleshoot, it says that the driver and adapter aren't working. When trying to set up a new network, I get a grayed-out wireless icon in the system tray and can't proceed. I disabled the firewall and antivirus so I could start over, uninstalling the driver, restarting and installing again.

My girlfriends computer (vista) sees the new network name and connects fine, my XP computer doesn't even see the new network, but it sees my neighbors networks.. and the laptops are sitting right next to each other.
