View 9 Replies View RelatedMy old dLink DIR-655 router could serve as an NTP server for all the computers on my network. It would get the time from the dLink NTP time source and allow me to sync all the systems on my home network off the DIR-655.
I had to replace it with this new E4200 but don't see an option for it to act as a time source for my internal network.
Can this router be used for this function?
So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.
[Code]....
I am grudgingly forced to allow certain people to use my wireless router connection. I just found out that these users are able to see a display of all the devices and computers attached to the router and network. This isn't a priviledge I'd like them to have. I'd like them to only be allowed to surf the internet - and leave it at that. I use WEP with a 26 digit code and each user has been given the code.)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT610N v2 with current firmware. The hard drive is a Western Digital Elements formatted to NTFS and already has music and photos so that other computers in the house can view them. This setup was done awhile back, maybe even a year ago.
Anyway, I can map the network drive and see everything there, but then after awhile (minutes - maybe 10) of idle time, the network drive can't be accessed by any computer, either as the mapped drive (W or by clicking the WRT610N in the network tree. It's like it goes to sleep and can't be awakened by activity.
I have searched the forums here and at WD but haven't found a solution or even this exact problem. I did find a utility on the WD site that is supposed to fix/eliminate the short idle time, but it didn't seem to work.
I have the WMP54G internal wireless adaptor. It normally works fine, but I have been having problems with it lately when I turn my computer back on from sleep. Even thought the wireless router works just fine, when the computer wakes up from sleep the adaptor does not seem to detect any network. I have to restart my computer, and then the adaptor detects the network.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a home network running all Mac computers (though can run Windows VM if necessary) and a pair of USB printers. The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.

She can ping my IP Address, but I cannot ping hers. We both have full access to the Internet. We are using the same workgroup, and both computers have file and printer sharing enabled and IPv6 addresses and DNS server addresses selected automatically. The problem appears to be with my computer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless network. For some reason my computer seemed to change regarding the settings, and I can't figure out what to do. Usually I can figure things out when the settings go wrong. I have a broadband connection, where it seems to want me to enter a phone number; I have a "LAN or High Speed" connection. Normally I click "Create New Connection", but it doesn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo recently I moved my modem (DLS Gateway) from one room to another. In doing this I unplugged the Ethernet from one computer and plug it into a new one. There isn't a problem with the new computer being wired, but the one that used to be wired won't find my wireless at all. It won't even find other networks it just keeps saying that it's not plugged in to the Ethernet. My question is how do I get the computer so that it can find wireless networks.

The problem is that I can see the network I need to connect to and I am putting in the correct network key but it just won't let me connect to it. There are three other computers using the wireless so it isn't the modem... and my iPhone is working on it. I am wondering if it has something to do with the IP... I do not really understand any computer stuff but I am desperate for this to be fixed because I am in the middle of mid-terms.
