I have noticed that when I plug the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer the led on the back of the computer panel does not blink as it does when I route directly from he cable modem.
I want to connect a Netgear FS605 directly to my ADSL router.However I find that this does not work unless I put my Netgear EN2005 Hub in between the Switch and the Router.The Hub is 10Mb/sec the switch 100Mb/s so I would like to eliminate the hub.

The problem is that I can see the network I need to connect to and I am putting in the correct network key but it just won't let me connect to it. There are three other computers using the wireless so it isn't the modem... and my iPhone is working on it. I am wondering if it has something to do with the IP... View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.

If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.

I recently purchased the router and got the CCC firmware on. It works fine for a while but then I can't connect to the router using my PC unless I log using the remote credentials. Generally if this were the case I wouldn't care but when I do it that way I can't run the speed test. After I reboot the router it works fine again, for a while.
For some reason, it doesn't detect my PC as being connected directly although my PC is connected by wire, directly to the router.
I changed my ISP to "Clear.com" and now one, seldom used, Win7 computer will not connect to the wireless network. I have two other desktops hardwired and two laptops on the wireless that work fine. The two laptops are in the same room as the Clear 'modem/router', while the Win7 box is not, if that matters. The Win7 box worked in that location when I was on the cable and had a separate wireless router.The box that will not connect, does show that the wireless connection is availableand the adapter shows to be working properly in Device Manager.

I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!

When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

Sometimes I cannot connect to the router after my computer has been to sleep. This has occurred on different routers. I can still see the network, but am told I cannot connect when attempting to connect to it. Restarting/shut down does not solve the problem - I have to restart the router itself, and then my computer will reconnect automatically. Other computers/devices will be unaffected by this and maintain a connection the entire time. Atheros AR5B91 Wireless Network Adapter using Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

Wireless devices connected OK (although often slow). I assumed it was the router so I bought a new one (Linksys), but it's having the same problem. New router I can connect to with my laptop but not with the desktop. Latest errors during setup are Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration and the default gate way is not available.
I restore to factory defaults? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on the desktop.
from the main line (internet port), i distribute to 1st 4 ports router (Bluelink R33N) which is 2 connected to the computer + 1 connect to another router (Dlink).. but the 2nd router (DLink) is not working with the internet line.. Tried to connect direct from main server to Dlink, and it's working well, but when use 2 routers in single line, just didnt work.

I have some shared network folders on my Synology DS410. And then i mapped a network drive to use those folders.But every time i restart my computer i get the message "cannot reconncet all network drives"I have to put in my username and password everytime. I choose Remember login and password.How can i fix this so it automatically connects to these on restart?

But when I connected the desktop directly there is an error "670 cannot connect to the server/ cannot find the modem" I deleted the dialup and created new one still the same issue. However If i connect the cable through the Router to the desktop it works. I think I lost the direct connection.

Downloaded all the updates and got it ready for his house. When I tried connecting to his network, it kept giving me the network key. I know I was entering the correct information because we had his older computer and I copied the exact thing. I had also made a folder when I set up his other computer with his information for his network in it and I was going by that. I tried to automatically connect and I also tried to manually connect. I deleted the name of my network (that worked) and rebooted. It continually gives me the block to put the password in. I brought it back to my house and the wifi connected with no problems. His old toshiba had no problems connecting to his network. I disconnected it and reconnected it. Is there something about the settings I am not doing? Or is it a firewall setting? Is there something in the modem that is conflicting with the new HP. It's a WAP2 Personal with AES Encryption (did not work on that one), where as my network is a WPA Personal with TKIP Encryption (worked on this one). Will that make a difference and if so what do I do about it?

My computer recently updated and since then I cannot connect to my desktop from my laptop. The desktop shows up in the network map but when I click it, it hangs and says "network path not found". I can ping the IP and the name of the PC from command line but I cannot access it. I have internet connectivity the whole time regardless and I've tried multiple routers.

Unfortunately, as my router's WLAN isn't strong enough to reach my room (I get internet on my laptop via ethernet cable) I need to use my laptop as a hotspot to be able to connect my phone. So I set up an ad-hoc network to share my laptop's internet connection via its own Wifi. I'm pretty confident I followed all the required steps accurately (enabled LAN connection sharing, etc), but when I try to connect to my new ad-hoc network on my laptop's list of wireless networks, I just get indefinitely stuck in the "Waiting for the network..." stage. I also tried with WEP security disabled, so no key was required, but to no avail. I know the laptop's wifi works fine as I can connect to my router (when in range) without a problem. Needless to say, my ad-hoc network is also not yet appearing on my phone's wifi connections.Running XP SP3, with Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.
