View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 that I was very happy with until I got a nest thermostat. Apparently it is an unsupported router and I had to change it. I bought a E2700 since it was supported, but I'm having a huge dilemma...
If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.

I have an EA3500, I have 30 Mbps download when I connect my pc directly to the modem. When I add in the EA3500 router it drops to only 10 Mbps download on both wired and wireless devices.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI think our brand new Belkin router toasted itself after it automatically updated it's firmware. We've had it for three days the first two days we were downloading around 2MB/s, then last night it updated itself and since then it's been crawling around 100kb/s.
I've tried to plug the desktop right into the modem to see if it'd speed back up but it won't give it internet access this way. I've tried rebooting the modem after and before switching cables around but nothing will make it change.

I have noticed that when I plug the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer the led on the back of the computer panel does not blink as it does when I route directly from he cable modem.
I have been using my DIR-655 for about 2 weeks now with Road Runner wideband services. Starting yesterday my internet became very slow and I discovered the cause was the router. I tried resetting it to factory settings and things will be fine and run smoothly for about 5-15 minutes but after that it goes back to being extremely slow. My speed tests would go from 10ms (normal) to 250-450ms. Before this issue occurred the Dlink was perfect, had full speeds. I am running a wire Ethernet connection.
I am currently using revB and tried upgrading firmware to 2.01NA which had no effect, but make my internet seemingly go back to normal for the first few minutes then nosedive again. I have also changed my speed/duplex settings in Network Config to 1gbs Full Duplex. I've also disabled QoS, and still no change. Not sure what else to do. When directly connected to the modem everything seems fine. The modem is also the provided Motorola SBG6580 which I have called Time Warner to set the modem into bridge mode and have the DIR-655 connected to it.
I have a problem with a talk talk dsl 2680modem or the connection? Everything worked fine until I did a facory reset on the pc (running xp),when I tried to install the talk talk internet from the cd, everything seemed fine with the wizard but no internet? the phone also has no dial tone? I am 99.9% sure it is not a problem in the area,I think its a setting problem with the setup.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Westell 2110 wired DSL modem for Frontier (formerly Verizon). It's not a modem that has a web interface, so I can't log into it to change any settings. It also, to my knowledge, has no bridge mode (which is a term I know very little about). I had an old D-Link WBR2310 router, and since I knew the wireless and the phones ran on the same frequency, I bought a new Linksys e1200 router. Unfortunately, when I went through the setup of the router, while I know I have a solid internet connection from the modem (I'm hard wired in as I type), and while I can connect to the router, I am unable to connect to the internet. I took down my IP address, DNS servers, subnet mask, and default gateway, and set up the router to run under a Static IP, which it does phenomenally. Unfortunately, when the ISP (via direct line or my modem) changes the IP address after a few hours, my connection drops and I have to go reset up the connection via a hard wire, taking down the information, etc. Why is this the only way I can set up my connection? What could I be doing that I'm not to get it running DHCP correctly? It worked on my WBR 2310.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desktop gateway computer slowly started having problems connecting to the internet via the hard ethernet connection to the router(Netgear). Wireless devices connected OK (although often slow). I assumed it was the router so I bought a new one (Linksys), but it's having the same problem. New router I can connect to with my laptop but not with the desktop. Latest errors during setup are Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration and the default gate way is not available.
I restore to factory defaults? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on the desktop.
I have 2 computers and 1 printer connected to the dsl modem and another computer and 2 printers connected to a router, I have internet connection to all. the problem I am having is I am trying to add 2 of the printers that are on the router to my pc's but I am unable to locate them also I am unable to log into my router through one of the computers that is connected to my modem directly but I can connect to my router with the pc connected directly to the router.
All the printers are set to share. Is the only way to do this is to connect all the printers to the main PC and then network all the pc's together? I am just trying to connect to all the printers that are on modem and router from any of the pc's connected to modem and router.
I just got Comcast ISP and used my own Modem. It's a Webstar DPC2100 R2 Modem and I can connect just fine from Modem to my pc. However, when I add my Netgear WGR614 v6 router into the mix, I get no connection.

We have a DIR 655 router that I have set up with LAN and WiFi, all good.Today we received our mast and antenna from Vodacom (ISP) with the Public IP's to enter into the router. We connected the LAN cable into the Internet Port and did a manual Internet Static IP setup. But as soon as we click save it says: Type is not for 3G... How do I go about entering the public (static) IP's we received from the ISP in order to get the Internet operational?

I am unable to connect my TP-Link TL-MR3220 router with BSNL EVDO ZTE AC8700 modem. Even though my router has the latest firmware version 3.14.2 Build 120822 Rel.57775n, which is the boxed firmware i got with my router. All the time my modem gets Identified by the router, then it shows connecting phase......and restarts the modem.........Repeats the same step every time I try to connect.
What I learned was it was bad to connect directly to the modem because you are left open to the internet. Currently my friend just got the internet and I told them to buy a router but they did not, and just have it directly connected to the modem. Is this fine, because they only have one computer, and it works fine for now, but wouldn't this be prone for attack?

It works fine for a while but then I can't connect to the router using my PC unless I log using the remote credentials. Generally if this were the case I wouldn't care but when I do it that way I can't run the speed test. After I reboot the router it works fine again, for a while.
For some reason, it doesn't detect my PC as being connected directly although my PC is connected by wire, directly to the router.
For several years I was connected to the internet via a USB modem (with TalkTalk being my ISP), however, after purchasing a laptop with Wi-Fi for my partner's daughter, decided it was time to get a router so we could all use the internet.I purchased a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router, model DGN1000, connected (via ethernet as the desktop has no wireless receiver) and installed it as per instructions supplied.However since that point I have been unable to connect to the internet on my desktop through the router. Wireless devices (several laptops, iPhones and games consoles) have no issues whatsoever in connecting and using the internet.
At first the desktop kept saying that I had "limited or no connectivity" which I eventually sorted out, there was some kind of issue with my IP address, but I can't remember what now. Now I when I try to load any website, Internet explorer tells me it couldn't load the page due to .... Google Chrome is more specific and tells me that the DNS lookup failed. I have tried updating the ethernet controller driver, using the 'flushdns' command, and after discovering many other people on TalkTalk tech forums having similar DNS issues, tried using DNS addresses that were suggested by both their support staff and members of the public (i.e. Google's DNS 8.8.8.8), and still nothing. If I reconnect my USB modem I can connect to the internet no problem, but I'd prefer to only have one modem on the go.I am running a HP Pavilion with Win XP (SP2), and all the laptops that have connected wirelessly (including the one I'm using now) are running Vista.
Last night Comcast reset our modem (from afar) so we could get a free movie to work. After that, we got the movie but my wireless internet now does not work. I can connect when attached to the cable modem but when I plug into the router I don't have access to internet.The router is plugged in and all lights are working (it acts normally otherwise). I have tried to get option 1 as well as option 2 to work, but I failed... I would be happy if either option 1 or 2 would work for me - I don't really care which one.
