I just got Comcast ISP and used my own Modem. It's a Webstar DPC2100 R2 Modem and I can connect just fine from Modem to my pc. However, when I add my Netgear WGR614 v6 router into the mix, I get no connection.

My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem.Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

I'm moving into a new place pretty quick, and my ISP has just introduced those lovely (read: awful) modem/router combos. I want to use my router running DD-WRT however. If I disable all firewalls, etc. and the DHCP server on the built-in router, and then have that all enabled on my DD-WRT router, everything should work, right? That way the combo unit would basically just be acting as a modem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently went to a higher speed ADSL which claimed to be 16Mpbs.. It is with Acanac and when i first tested with speed net it came in over 14Mbps. I was using a netgear wireless g router (old) with the 4200 speedstream modem and got these results which I found acceptable. Now using netgear n router modem combo DGN-2000 and my readings are just over 12 Mbps. I tried reverting and still got the lower speeds. I tried isolating one computer hard wired still got the lower 12Mbps.It hasnt really affected my download speeds as far as I can tell but I did find it a little puzzling.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2500 and I'm trying to connect it to my ISP provided router (Actiontec V1000H) because I wanted better range and consistent connectivity for my 6+ wireless devices.My problem is that, to make this work, I connected an Ethernet cable from the E2500's yellow internet port to one of my V1000H's LAN ports. This, however, did not give me access to the internet even though the network for my E2500 was available in the network list and selected as the default network. I then had to go the the advanced settings of the E2500, and changed the router IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.2. This granted me internet access.However, everyone i've talked to including coworkers and experts at dslreports said that, because of what I've done I've set up a double NAT with 2 potentially conflicting IP addresses, and down the road weird issues will arise because of it. They also suggested I connect the E2500 to a dedicated modem to avoid this problem. However, the dedicated modem I was sent was faulty and did not allow internet access even through the ethernet connection. So, until I get a new dedicated modem, I have to use the router/modem combo.What should I do? Should I set up the E2500 as just a wireless access point for my existing router/modem combo? What do I need to edit in the advanced settings?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 2wire 2701HG-B wireless router/dsl modem combo. My computer is a Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. The router/modem has been reliable for the last 2 years.. hardly ever needing a reset, reboot, or anything. Then all of a sudden my wifi network didn't show up anymore. I did a reboot, nothing. Kind of weird so I got on the phone with AT&T and they walked me through some simple stuff and they determined it's either the router or my computer. Well I know it's not the computer, I can use the mobile hotspot on my android phone and it gets on just fine.All of the lights on the router are green, AT&T showed that all the tests show the internet connection is working. Since the router is not sending out a wifi signal anymore, I had to plug the ethernet cable in. The system recognizes a connection but says it isn't connected because it is a "public" connection. Additionally, if I go to network connections with the cable plugged in, I can see my DirecTV DVR is showing on the network (because it is connected to the router via ethernet too). So it isn't broadcasting wifi, I can see my DVR over the network in windows, but I can't get the IP renewed.

He says has 3 static ips for the modem, and 1 of the network cables coming from the modem directly into the D-Link Router. I first attempted to just plug it into the uplink, and let DCHP do its magic, but I had no luck with that. I could connect to the router but it didn't have internet.
So I restarted the downstream router, and plugged the network cable into the 1st port, and suddenly I had internet on the wireless but it would constantly go up and down, and ping times were extreme erratic.
I have 2 computers and 1 printer connected to the dsl modem and another computer and 2 printers connected to a router, I have internet connection to all. the problem I am having is I am trying to add 2 of the printers that are on the router to my pc's but I am unable to locate them also I am unable to log into my router through one of the computers that is connected to my modem directly but I can connect to my router with the pc connected directly to the router.
All the printers are set to share. Is the only way to do this is to connect all the printers to the main PC and then network all the pc's together? I am just trying to connect to all the printers that are on modem and router from any of the pc's connected to modem and router.
I reset my Hybrid modem router's settings back to factory settings cause the disconnects were pissing me off.After a while, It disconnected. I tried reconnecting, but now it's only showing "No Internet access."

I am unable to connect my TP-Link TL-MR3220 router with BSNL EVDO ZTE AC8700 modem. Even though my router has the latest firmware version 3.14.2 Build 120822 Rel.57775n, which is the boxed firmware i got with my router. All the time my modem gets Identified by the router, then it shows connecting phase......and restarts the modem.........Repeats the same step every time I try to connect.
I am having problems connecting to the internet. It has never done this and just started a week ago. I contacted my ISP and they told me it is not the modems fault. I have a modem and then it goes to a Trendnet 100mpbs Ethernet Switch. Then it goes to my primary computer and then to my laptop. They are all hard-wires. I contacted Acer and they said it wasn't a problem with the computer. When I look at the control panel it says "Unidentified Network" and has no other information than that. I already attempted to manually put in the IP I should be receiving from the modem, but that did not work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Westell 2110 wired DSL modem for Frontier (formerly Verizon). It's not a modem that has a web interface, so I can't log into it to change any settings. It also, to my knowledge, has no bridge mode (which is a term I know very little about). I had an old D-Link WBR2310 router, and since I knew the wireless and the phones ran on the same frequency, I bought a new Linksys e1200 router. Unfortunately, when I went through the setup of the router, while I know I have a solid internet connection from the modem (I'm hard wired in as I type), and while I can connect to the router, I am unable to connect to the internet. I took down my IP address, DNS servers, subnet mask, and default gateway, and set up the router to run under a Static IP, which it does phenomenally. Unfortunately, when the ISP (via direct line or my modem) changes the IP address after a few hours, my connection drops and I have to go reset up the connection via a hard wire, taking down the information, etc. Why is this the only way I can set up my connection? What could I be doing that I'm not to get it running DHCP correctly? It worked on my WBR 2310.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the WET610N Wireless Bridge to use with my Samsung BD-P1590 Blu-Ray Player. The player has a few built in apps that include Netflix, Bockbuster, Pandora and YouTube. I successfully setup the bridge and hooked it up to the blu-ray player. It wasn't that hard. All the internet apps on the player work fine except Netflix. The first time I use the netfix app, it is supposed to give me a code that I use to register the device with netflix. However, I get a message that Netflix is temporarily unavailable. I have called netflix and they assure me that this is not the case and that it is most likely my wireless setup. The troubleshooting on Samsungs website points to the same thing. With that said, I disconnected the player from the wireless bridge and wired it directly to my router. Netflix works just fine then. Below is a list of things I have attempted:Disable the firewall on the router to see if it was blocking the app. (had the same results)Checked my firmware on all my devices (they are all current)Powered down all my devices and started them up back up starting with my DSL modem and ending with he blu-ray player (same results)Configured the bridge and player to use a static IP vs using the IPs automatically assigned by the router. (same results)Disabled aggregation on all WMM categories. I don't think the WRV54G router supports aggregation,, so I though this might cause a conflict with my setup. (same results)Enabled the broadcasting of SSID (same results)Chatted with linksys support. They basically checked to see if I had the latest firmware and that the bridge was working. They then recommended that I exchange the bridge for a new one. (I have not exchanged it for a new one yet, just because I am not convinced that there isn't something else wrong with my setup)My Configuration

I am not sure if the problem lies with the routewr or the bridge. I am hoping someone out there can confirm that the WET610N truly does work whne using it with a BD-P1590 blu-ray player. This would lead me to believe that there is something wrong with my configuration or with using it combination with my older router. I would like to note also, that I have had one instance where BD Live didn't work. However, it has worked on other disks.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an SG300-10P switch and am trying to use it to create a testing environment for a Fiber Test set. What I would like to do is get two hosts, A & B, plugged into ports 1 and 3 on the switch, to talk to each other, but forcing the traffic to be routed through the two Combo ports 9 & 10. Please see the attached diagram.I've attempted to configure two VLAN's, 10 and 20. Vlan 10 is used for traffic between Ports 1 and 9, Vlan 20 is used for traffic between Ports 3 and 10.I don't really care whether the traffic is tagged or untagged as it passes between ports 9 and 10.
I've tried various combinations of tagged/untagged ports, PVID's, etc. As a first test I've bypassed the Fiber Test set and simply created a direct connection between ports 9 and 10. I am unable to get the traffic from Host A to Host B to get routed through ports 9 and 10 (I ping each host from the other and get no response).
I would like to be able to modernize these outlets with a new RJ11 jack for telephone and replace the electric outlets with fresh ones. Problem is, no one can lead me to where I can find new wall plates for this combo setup style. Someone has told me this is out of code for many years now and there is no clear cut path to modernizing it besides just moving the telco jack/box out of the electric gang box and into its own separate box to the side.
Upgrading such "messes" to standard modular RJ11 plugs, and finding wallplates for it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor several years I was connected to the internet via a USB modem (with TalkTalk being my ISP), however, after purchasing a laptop with Wi-Fi for my partner's daughter, decided it was time to get a router so we could all use the internet.I purchased a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router, model DGN1000, connected (via ethernet as the desktop has no wireless receiver) and installed it as per instructions supplied.However since that point I have been unable to connect to the internet on my desktop through the router. Wireless devices (several laptops, iPhones and games consoles) have no issues whatsoever in connecting and using the internet.
At first the desktop kept saying that I had "limited or no connectivity" which I eventually sorted out, there was some kind of issue with my IP address, but I can't remember what now. Now I when I try to load any website, Internet explorer tells me it couldn't load the page due to .... Google Chrome is more specific and tells me that the DNS lookup failed. I have tried updating the ethernet controller driver, using the 'flushdns' command, and after discovering many other people on TalkTalk tech forums having similar DNS issues, tried using DNS addresses that were suggested by both their support staff and members of the public (i.e. Google's DNS 8.8.8.8), and still nothing. If I reconnect my USB modem I can connect to the internet no problem, but I'd prefer to only have one modem on the go.I am running a HP Pavilion with Win XP (SP2), and all the laptops that have connected wirelessly (including the one I'm using now) are running Vista.
When I attempt to connect my new laptop to it and enter the security key/password, it does not accept it.I was able to connect the computer I had before to the router.How can I connect my new computer?

1.) I don't have a wireless card in my PC, so I will be connecting wired to get WiFi via WAN and LAN ports, right? First before I forget, I have a Windows 7 32-bit desktop PC. We are working with a DSL modem residential line without phone line using a coaxial cable, and Ethernet cable from modem into the PC. connecting this D-link router to my modem and WiFi, and for me to use the WPA2 security?
2.) I have an iPhone 4 with Verizon. If I want to use my iPhone to get WiFi from the router, and turn off the Internet on my phone, and use WiFi only on my phone, how would this work?
