My question is how can I use this existing wi-fi as input to a router to make a sub wi-fi for four computers and a wireless printer. Some of my computers may need to be wired into the router.
View 5 RepliesI've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 that I was very happy with until I got a nest thermostat. Apparently it is an unsupported router and I had to change it. I bought a E2700 since it was supported, but I'm having a huge dilemma...
If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.

I recently purchased the router and got the CCC firmware on. It works fine for a while but then I can't connect to the router using my PC unless I log using the remote credentials. Generally if this were the case I wouldn't care but when I do it that way I can't run the speed test. After I reboot the router it works fine again, for a while.
For some reason, it doesn't detect my PC as being connected directly although my PC is connected by wire, directly to the router.
I have external hard drive connected to E3000. It is formatted as NTFS and working fine. However if I disconnect from router and connect to PC usb port directly, I get a message that hard drive needs to be formatted.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.

I have noticed that when I plug the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer the led on the back of the computer panel does not blink as it does when I route directly from he cable modem.
I have a wireless att dsl modum with uverse and wireless laptop connectivity. the wireless somehow stopped, but i can connect directly and reach the internet. I have ping tested the nic card and it seems fine. I have rebooted the modum, the computer to no avail??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin Play N300 (part number = F7D4302) wireless router, and I want to connect my (soon-to-be-pole-mounted) 12DBI omnidirectional antenna to it, the goal is better wireless access in one area of a church camp. I have a couple of U.lf - RP-SMA pigtails on the way, because of course the router doesn't have an external antenna connection.
I opened up the router case, and below is a shot of the board. There's plenty of room inside the case. The router is dual-band (2.4 and 5ghz), and uses 2 internal antennae, apparently it senses the better one and uses it as needed.
My plan is to disconnect one antenna, and connect/solder my external antenna pigtail in its place. I'm a fair hand at soldering, but very little practice de-soldering...
1. Is disconnecting / replacing one antenna the way to go, and if so, which one? Or should I leave them both connected and piggyback my external onto one of them (soldering the leads on top of existing connections), or disconnect both antennae, or does it matter?
2. Which set of wires, white or black, are used for which band - and should I connect to? I assume I'd want to hook up to the 2.4ghz, correct?
The white wires come out from the tiny Broadcom chip, I think it's marked BCM43224KMLG (dang, that's some tiny print!). This page leads me to think that these are the 5ghz antenna leads, but I'd llike to be positive before I start cutting.
The black wires appear to feed from the larger Broadcom chip marked BCM4718A1KFBG. Again, this page leads me to think that this is the 2.4ghz antenna.
3. Assuming that the black wires are the ones I want, would it be ok to cut one really close to the board end, cut the U.fl connector off of my pigtail, prep the wire / shielding, and solder the wire / shielding on top of the existing solder connection?

I know that the easiest answer to this is to get a wireless PCI card. But can I ask that in order to be able to access to the LAN wirelessly, I could plug my PC directly into the wireless access point TP-Link.

I have also connected all my other ethernet devices to the router so I don't have to keep unplugging them and replacing the ethernet cable in the wall socket. I can connect to the internet through the router but it's only allowing one device to be connected at once and the router is saying "no connection" even though I can connect through it. does this mean it's working as a switch at the moment, right? Would it be possible to make it work as a router so all my devices can work simultaneously and get the wifi to work?

Wireless devices connected OK (although often slow). I assumed it was the router so I bought a new one (Linksys), but it's having the same problem. New router I can connect to with my laptop but not with the desktop. Latest errors during setup are Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration and the default gate way is not available.

from the main line (internet port), i distribute to 1st 4 ports router (Bluelink R33N) which is 2 connected to the computer + 1 connect to another router (Dlink).. but the 2nd router (DLink) is not working with the internet line.. Tried to connect direct from main server to Dlink, and it's working well, but when use 2 routers in single line, just didnt work.

But when I connected the desktop directly there is an error "670 cannot connect to the server/ cannot find the modem" I deleted the dialup and created new one still the same issue. However If i connect the cable through the Router to the desktop it works. I think I lost the direct connection.

After changing the password and clicking on Save a small screen pops up asking me to verify my router's username and password. When I enter the exact same user name and password it does not accept them. When I try to enter the old user name and password it does not accept them either. I then try combinations of the two and it still will not accept the input. I have reset my router 4 times now and this keeps occurring. I am completely baffled.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.
