from the main line (internet port), i distribute to 1st 4 ports router (Bluelink R33N) which is 2 connected to the computer + 1 connect to another router (Dlink).. but the 2nd router (DLink) is not working with the internet line.. Tried to connect direct from main server to Dlink, and it's working well, but when use 2 routers in single line, just didnt work.
I have a Modem/Router combo and am trying to plug an 8 port switch directly into it and then have wireless AP's and other hardwired devices plugged into the switch. Normally, when I plug a switch into a router it requires no set up. This one on the other hand, will not work.
My desktop gateway computer slowly started having problems connecting to the internet via the hard ethernet connection to the router(Netgear). Wireless devices connected OK (although often slow). I assumed it was the router so I bought a new one (Linksys), but it's having the same problem. New router I can connect to with my laptop but not with the desktop. Latest errors during setup are Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration and the default gate way is not available.
I restore to factory defaults? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on the desktop.
I have a Broadband Optical fibre cable which i used to connect directly to my Desktop and Laptop, i am running win7 on on my desktop/laptop, yesterday I installed Belkin router for my Laptop, worked fine, laptop is wireless now. But when I connected the desktop directly there is an error "670 cannot connect to the server/ cannot find the modem" I deleted the dialup and created new one still the same issue. However If i connect the cable through the Router to the desktop it works. I think I lost the direct connection.
I have a wireless att dsl modum with uverse and wireless laptop connectivity. the wireless somehow stopped, but i can connect directly and reach the internet. I have ping tested the nic card and it seems fine. I have rebooted the modum, the computer to no avail??
We have a DIR 655 router that I have set up with LAN and WiFi, all good.Today we received our mast and antenna from Vodacom (ISP) with the Public IP's to enter into the router. We connected the LAN cable into the Internet Port and did a manual Internet Static IP setup. But as soon as we click save it says: Type is not for 3G... How do I go about entering the public (static) IP's we received from the ISP in order to get the Internet operational?
somehow connecting my PC to my home network as if it was wired. Having a wired connection just won't work because my PC is far away from my modem and router. The reason I want to connect it wired is because I am getting terrible speeds, and the slowest. [URL]
So I recently just built a new pc for gaming, I can't seem to connect to the internet through my router or directly through my modem. I have connected directly on my laptop and it works and through router and it works.
My question is how can I use this existing wi-fi as input to a router to make a sub wi-fi for four computers and a wireless printer. Some of my computers may need to be wired into the router.
I have just built a PC desktop and do not think it has the wireless built-in on the motherboard. I'd like to connect to the local network wirelessly. I know that the easiest answer to this is to get a wireless PCI card. But can I ask that in order to be able to access to the LAN wirelessly, I could plug my PC directly into the wireless access point TP-Link.
I've been using D-Link DIR-600 wireless router for two months with my ISP, SmartBro. A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop. When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
I cannot connect to the internet via my router. The router is functioning properly two other computers in the house use the router one though Ethernet cable and the other one connects wireless. Things I have done while trying to figure out the problemMade sure all windows updates were up to date Scanned for viruses and malware (none were found) Uninstall the network adapter Made sure the network adapter driver were up to date
I have noticed that when I plug the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer the led on the back of the computer panel does not blink as it does when I route directly from he cable modem.
I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 that I was very happy with until I got a nest thermostat. Apparently it is an unsupported router and I had to change it. I bought a E2700 since it was supported, but I'm having a huge dilemma...
If I connect the linksys directly to the modem, I'm not getting an internet connection. I've released and renewed IPs to no avail..
but if I hardwire the linksys to the netgear, I do get a good solid internet connection. problem is, I have no need for 2 routers setup on top of each other.
basically, I dont understand why linksys is not able to connect directly to the modem. yet it gets solid connection hardwired through another router.
I'm using Comcast and in south FL. it's a motorola surfboard modem
I recently purchased the router and got the CCC firmware on. It works fine for a while but then I can't connect to the router using my PC unless I log using the remote credentials. Generally if this were the case I wouldn't care but when I do it that way I can't run the speed test. After I reboot the router it works fine again, for a while.
For some reason, it doesn't detect my PC as being connected directly although my PC is connected by wire, directly to the router.
I want to connect a Netgear FS605 directly to my ADSL router. However I find that this does not work unless I put my Netgear EN2005 Hub in between the Switch and the Router. The Hub is 10Mb/sec the switch 100Mb/s so I would like to eliminate the hub.
I have external hard drive connected to E3000. It is formatted as NTFS and working fine. However if I disconnect from router and connect to PC usb port directly, I get a message that hard drive needs to be formatted.
I have need to test async communications through a pair of CGR 2010's..This emulates some particular serial-talking-only devices at either end that want to communicate with eachother. I've done stuff like this before but with modems attached to the PC's.
I have an EA3500, I have 30 Mbps download when I connect my pc directly to the modem. When I add in the EA3500 router it drops to only 10 Mbps download on both wired and wireless devices.
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
I just want to connect two computers over the internet as if they are in the same network. This doesnt have to be VPN I dont care about security I just want to get them connected as if they are on the same network. Is there anyway to set this up in my linksys router? Can I use windows VPN? What is the easiest way to get this accomplished? Can you somehow connect two routers through internet like one is 192.168.1.1 and one is 192.168.2.1?Like I said I dont really care how it is done I just need it done. Any easiest way to connect two computers through internet so that they are on the same network.
I think our brand new Belkin router toasted itself after it automatically updated it's firmware. We've had it for three days the first two days we were downloading around 2MB/s, then last night it updated itself and since then it's been crawling around 100kb/s.
I've tried to plug the desktop right into the modem to see if it'd speed back up but it won't give it internet access this way. I've tried rebooting the modem after and before switching cables around but nothing will make it change.
What I learned was it was bad to connect directly to the modem because you are left open to the internet. Currently my friend just got the internet and I told them to buy a router but they did not, and just have it directly connected to the modem. Is this fine, because they only have one computer, and it works fine for now, but wouldn't this be prone for attack?
if you have two no of win 7 computer , and you run ping command at the same time at both PCs but the successfull at only one PC , second computer shows unsuccess full ping
I have a friend with a mac laptop that I need to transfer roughly ~110 GB from. I have a laptop that dual boots Windows 7 and Kubuntu 12.10. Easiest way to directly transfer these files between our computersNeither of us has a large enough external hard drive.
I've been trying to connect my laptop directly to my Arris modem with an ethernet cable to get on the internet, but for some reason every time I do I have "limited access" and can't get on the internet. I can only seem to get my laptop on the internet while the wireless router is connected to the modem and then either connecting wirelessly or by connecting my laptop to the wireless router with an ethernet cable.I want to connect to the internet without my wireless router, because someone was hacking our router and was apparently doing illegal downloads. We got a cease and desist letter that said our internet will be terminated if it happens again, so I want to connect to the internet without any wireless connections being set up.
Can I directly plug a server into an inside interface in a firewall (Cisco ASA 5510). I'm just confirming that I don't need to have a switch between them. This is the only server behind the firewall.
I have a problem, my netbook eMD355 is not connecting directly to our wifi. I tried to restore the system but still it doesn't connect. My windows here is WINDOWS 7 ultimate.
For over a year there was no issue with the wireless router, then all of a sudden the connection was lost even though the signal was strong. When trying to figure out what was wrong, I accidentally reset the router. I had not used one before, so I am not too knowledgeable. The router had been my previous roommate's, who had set up the password, etc and I had been using it with that set-up, but now I had no password. I tried to reconfigure and set up a new password through the D-Link administrator, but could not get it to work. It is a D-Link DIR-655 and I am using an iMac. I finally just bought an Ethernet cable and plugged in directly, since I had no password protection. But even with the cable plugged in, I will lose the connection and have to restart the router to get it back - which has even happened while I am using the internet.
was wondering if i go wired but through the router is it still being effected by the extra step or is that only going to effect wireless? asking because my wife is wireless but barely gets on, so if im about to do something intensive online would it be worth bypassing the router and plugging straight into the modem
