I have a Netgear wireless router and modem. My signal strength is great, but every day or two I randomly drop my wireless signal and have to restart the router to regain it. The internet signal seems to be fine even when I have to restart the router.

I am having trouble with my modem/router the netgear dgn2200 n300. I bought it to replace my older netgear modem/router (same model v2 to v3).The problem is I just keep getting disconnected say every hour or so when I am using the internet and sometimes it can disconnect me 2-3 times in half an hour. I have removed the filter/splitter and plugged the dsl cord from the netgear straight into the wall bypassing the filter and I still get disconnected.When I am online I receive great connectivity and I consider the bandwidth to be just fine for my needs.My question is what do I have to do in the settings of the router or in my internet properties for it to stop disconnecting me as it gets frustrating. I will take any advice except for "get a new router" or "do an isolation test" blah. Simply because 1. It happened with my old router and with my netcomm modem. 2. I have already done an isolation test and somethings not configured properly I think so, I am no networking wizard.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter (WNA3100) for my PC. The router is in the other room (approx 5-6 meters away) connected to my flatmates laptop. The adapter worked fine for almost two months, but at the past 2 weeks it keeps disconnecting in every 2-15 minutes, for 1-3 minutes. I have Windows 7 and I'm not familiar with networking issues so the only thing I did was to reinstall the driver and update it, but this didn't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy PC can't seem to keep the wireless connection for longer than a few seconds without it trying to reconnect and eventually drop again. Other family members' PCs don't seem to have this problem and my laptop also has a stable connection.
I used to have no problem connecting, but this problem arose one day. My house uses Verizon FIoS, the router is a Netgear R3600 and my PC uses AVG.
The picture has the signal showing up, but then it disappears seconds later only to reappear again.
I have a USB Netgear WN111v2 that has been working perfectly up until now, it can't connect to the network and trying to manually set up the addresses, reinstalling drivers, and trying a system restore haven't worked. Even though the router has a lease for the computer on 192.168.1.11 it's doesn't work, although it will show that it's connecting, it won't ping anything, including the router... WZC utility is stopped?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a Dlink Dir 655 router a couple weeks and i seem to having a trouble. Every between 30min to a couple hours the connection dropps for no apparent reason. I tried a couple things like resetting to factory config, giving myself a static adress (since the logg was spamming the dhcp over my PC) Unfortuantly, none seem to work. so far it does a great job but the connection dropps are really annoying. Here are the log files if when it last occured.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 2 laptop, a Toshiba and a MSi, both wirelessly connected to a Zyxel router. The toshiba laptop worked just fine for me, never disconnect, but the MSi started to act up since I got this router. Sometimes it disconnect from the router every 5 mins, it can still detect the network, but then I have to troubleshoot it to reset the adapter if I want to reconnect it. The problem I got from the troubleshoot is " Problems with adapter or access point". Before I bought this router for the current cable service, I had a DSL service, my laptops can connect wirelessly to the DSL modem, without router and they worked just fine, so I don't know if the problem is from the router or the laptop.I searched for solutions everywhere on the internet, yet they are the same : update firmware, drivers,.I even reinstalled windows so many times yet it remains the same.

I have already logged into the dlink admin and changed the RTS Threshold to 2304. After that, it worked for a couple of days, and now its back to disconnecting again. What can be wrong? It's a D-Link Wireless N 150.I constantly get an "Excellent" signal from the router, but my HP Mini netbook keeps disconnecting and re-connecting. It happens three to ten times in each hour, and it re-connects quickly, but the hiccup is annoying. Once in a blue moon, it'll disconnect and refuse to re-connect for a while.Other items that use the router--our iPhones, our Nintendo 3DS's, our Wii, our Xbox--don't have an issue.My netbook doesn't have a problem if I use wireless somewhere else, like in a coffee shop or McDonalds or wherever.I've tried updating my drivers, without much luck.

The router is being good so far. I have a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO router with windows XP operating system. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I really want it to stop because it is stopping me from doing things that require the internet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are using Cisco router (1941W model) and our the WAN interface keeps going down randomly (sometimes happened twice within 1 hour, sometimes worked fine for 2-3 days before getting disconnected). After getting disconnected, if we unplug the cable that connects our router to the fiber terminal and then plug in back, everything works fine immediately.
We had asked our Internet Provider to come 3 times to check the network line, renew the fiber terminal and do some investigations, they said there should be no issue on their side. If it's true then there must be something wrong with the router.
We also enabled ip accounting on the router and saw very low rate of small packets coming to WAN interface.
During the downtime, LAN interface still worked fine.
I bought myself a DELL INSPIRON 1564 almost 2 years ago. I have been using a DLINK router MODEL DIR 635 ever since.It worked flawlessly. Now, i moved to a different part of the city and i had to install an internet connection. The connection is the same i used before - 100mbs fiber-optic. The only problem now is that the internet connection keeps dropping 2 3 times a day.Sometimes my laptop sees the wireless connection we set up,sometimes i have to wait one or two days to connect.Furthermore my laptops SEES like 10 other wireless connections except MINE!!!( if i go to a friends place the laptop sees his internet connection and works, the same if i go to any other place with a wireless connection) I live with 3 other people, they all have laptops and theirs work fine even after we reset the router. I also own a desktop PC, i bought a wireless adapter for it and surprise even the PC sees our wireless connection,,even my mobile phone,every other device except my laptop.

I can connect easily to internet with TP-Link MR-3040 router and Huawei E173 3G modem, but the router is disconnected or reseted after a while with no reason. it works fine between 5 and 15 minutes, rarely more than 1 hour, and when i see a video or download a large file the reset is almost automatic. This never happens with the Huawei modem connected directly to the PC!
I have a WRT160N v3 Linksys Router and it keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting. It only disconnects wirelessly. LAN still works fine.I have tried a lot of different methods to solve this issue, but none seem to work.I am very dissappointed in the quality of the product. It has done this every since it was bought. I personally would have sent it in for repairs, but others in my household would not have agreed to that.

I have Time Warner as my internet company. I recently purchased a new Linksys Router Mode E2500 because I have been having issues with my old router. My internet was disconnecting sporadically. After connecting the new router, a started getting the same issue. I replaced my internet cable modem to a Cisco 2100 modem (provided by Time Warner). I noticed that the issue keeps happening sporadically which makes me believe it is my Linksys router. Every time a new wireless connection is connected, my modem circuit dies. This happens sporadically.

The problem is when I download a youtube video or I use VPN or even a desktop remote access, it always disconnect. I've seen many and many posts on this forum of people having this problem, I decided to try what you suggested to them:
- Changed the MTU to 1492
- Disabled IPS
- Disabled Firewall
- A couple of other things
- I already have the latest firmware
... and i've done some other tests in my side but nothing worked so far, just like for those who had this problem. I strongly think it's a problem on the router and not a problem from the user.
Is there anything i can do to get my dell laptop with windows 7 to stay connected to my router. i have my old desk top connected to it also and i have no problems with the desk.top

The problem is when I turn off my pc and disconnect it and all attached devices (modem, router ect) from the electric supply. When I turn it back on I have no internet connection until I reboot the pc a second time.This problem only occurs when I disconnect the router from the electric supply. If I just shut down without disconnecting then I can turn it on and it connects to the internet without any problem.

But sometimes the router just disconnect us all, its like its restarting, it only close down for like 5 - 10 secounds and then its back on. Sometimes it does it like every secound hour and sometimes it does it 3 times in 10 min. I usually play games on it and even tho I am the only one using it, it still disconnects. We got 2 wireless cameras running on a secound router that is merged (Thats what the nerd that setted it up for us told me) with the primary existing router. i've excellent WIFI reception - setup 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks (diffrent SSID). i've few apple computers on the WIFI, and ipod touch 5th gen with iOS 6.01.Seems that often when i browse web on the ipod, the WIFI drops (takes about 60s to reconnect - almost as if the router is rebooting). But it's not conclusive and unpredictable. It also happens just with the computers when browsing web.
Our router is connected through a cable modem and If I connect my computer directly wired to the cable modem, I have no problem, it does not disconnect at all.In comes the router in between, when I connect the router and connect my computer through the router WRT54G2, it works initially then I get disconnected after about 1-2 hours. This is very regular. I have a temporary solution by resetting the router via two ways:
1. Go to the admin page, and perform a release and renew IP method.
2. Simply power off the router and then on again.
