Linksys Wired Router :: RVS4000 Keeps Disconnecting?

Feb 11, 2011

after using BEFSR41 for a long time without any problems, I decided to buy a new router RVS4000 to be able to have gigabit connections.

The problem is when I download a youtube video or I use VPN or even a desktop remote access, it always disconnect. I've seen many and many posts on this forum of people having this problem, I decided to try what you suggested to them:

- Changed the MTU to 1492
- Disabled IPS
- Disabled Firewall
- A couple of other things
- I already have the latest firmware

... and i've done some other tests in my side but nothing worked so far, just like for those who had this problem. I strongly think it's a problem on the router and not a problem from the user.

Linksys Wired Router :: Can't Connect To LAN Using RVS4000

Dec 20, 2008

I just installed an RVS4000 router for a SOHO. I have no problem getting out to the internet so access from LAN -> WAN is working fine. The problem is with VPN access from the WAN.I created a VPN account and set up QuickVPN on a PC making sure I imported the certificate. I can connect to the router with no problem and I can even connect to the routers web admin page. But that's where it ends. I cannot connect in any way, shape, or form to PCs on the LAN through the VPN. I can't even ping them.Am I missing something in the setup of the router?

This is the only reason I bought this router as the old one was working fine. How to fix getting through the router to connect to the computers on the LAN.

Linksys Wired Router :: RVS4000 Does Not Renew DHCP On WAN

Jan 24, 2011

I have an RVS4000 located at my office.  A user of mine also has one at their house.  We have created an IPSec Tunnel between the 2 of them and have them successfully communicating between the 2 networks with no problem.

The problem I have is if I make a change on their end and the router needs to reboot to apply the changes, the WAN port never renews it's DHCP address.  The end user must unplug the unit, plug it back in and then the system comes back up with the correct WAN DHCP address, and the tunnel is connected automatically.

I beleive they have the newest firmware (2.0.0.3) but I cannot confirm that right now as the unit is down.  I bought the 2 of them at the same time - my unit at the office has the 2.0.0.3 firmware so I am assuming the users does as well.

Linksys Wired Router :: GRE Internet Protocol 47 Not Getting Through RVS4000

Jun 23, 2011

I have a PPTP VPN server (WIndows 2008 R2) sitting behind an RVS4000, I have port forwarding for 1732 on and the client's (Windows 7) can reach the VPN server but cannot complete the connection due to an 806 error, which is GRE traffic related. I have PPTP passthrough on and have also created a ACL entry for PPTP traffic. I've seen many posts on this topic over several years with no solutions, and I do have the latest firmware (Version:V1.3.3.5). This is also definetely router related as I have absolutley no problem connecting when I point directly to the VPN server by internal IP address.

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Setup VLANS On RVS4000

Jan 24, 2013

We share a common fibre connection to the internet. In the basement we have a modem/router(zyxel) which is in "bridge mode".  Therefore not acting as DHCP.Behind this zyxel we have a Cisco RVS4000 router. Ports 1 and 2 go to family A, and Ports 3 and 4 go to family B.Family A and B have separate routers which are both set to "access point mode". Family A has an ASUS RT-N66U router while family B has a dlink DIR-615. The asus has an "access point mode" while the dlink needs to be set up manually to achieve this. The dlink must also have a static IP adress. The asus can receive ip adress.

Linksys Wired Router :: Using RVS4000 V2 For Internet And VLANs

Mar 10, 2013

I am trying to configure my RVS4000 to create my church's small network.  I want to connect my internet DSL router on the WAN port and also segment my network with VLANs on the 4 LAN ports.  I have port 4 connected to a wireless access point which is in VLAN1 for an open wireless network for any church member to access the internet through.  I have a church server, printer and second access point on ports 1-3 in VLAN 34.  All ports are untagged.  I want the devices on VLAN34 which need confidentiality to be secure from the devices connecting to the internet from VLAN1 for open access but both VLANs need access to the internet..

My open wireless AP in VLAN1 has access to the internet on the WAN port.None of my devices in VLAN34 have access to the internet.  I have tried using inter-VLAN routing but that made operation worse so I disabled it.

Linksys Wired Router :: Setting Up RVS4000 For VPN Clients?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT150N Unit Disconnecting From Wired Connections

It seems to disconnect all connections at same time, totally random. The only way to reconnect is to power down router for a few seconds and then power up.

Wired / Wireless Connections Constantly Disconnecting And Reconnecting?

Jul 17, 2011

I've been having a problem the past several days with my wired connection where every 2-3 seconds it will disconnect, then reconnect, then disconnect, and so on without stopping. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it, and it's not the internet connection but rather the physical connection that seems to be lost (the network will do the entire identifying...unidentified network > identified network thing).

Naturally, I've already tried upgrading my network card drivers + uninstalling/reinstalling when it didn't work. I've powercycled the router/modem and rebooted the comp, but I can't find any way to fix the issue. It's not a problem with the router, since this only happens on my computer, and the other computers connected to the router have no problems at all. Even if I disconnect the router and connect my computer directly to the modem, it still has the issue.

Normally I'd assume it was something wrong with my network adapter, but my computer has no problems connecting to a new router/network it's never been on before. This only happens with networks that my computer has connected to in the past.

Recently I've just been using the wireless connection since it was only the wired connection having issues, but a few days ago my wireless connection started doing the exact same thing. It'll disconnect/reconnect ad infinitum without stopping every few seconds, so it's impossible to get on the internet.

Here are the results of my ipconfig:

C:UsersOwner>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : MainComputer

Linksys Wired Router :: EA4500 - Wired Connections Have Long Ping Times

Sep 23, 2012

I purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday.  Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues.  Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected.  When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms.  They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's.  I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference.  I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support.  We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.

It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out.  The computers connecting to router are

XP SP3 (mine)
Win 7 Home (IPV6 turned off)
Work laptop that uses VPN and VOIP

Linksys Wired Router :: E4200 No Longer Accepts Wired Connections?

Oct 11, 2012

My E4200 router no longer accepts any WIRED connections. I can connect from the modem to the computer and everything works as expected. I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR41 Two Wired Routers In Non-standard Hookup

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR81 Keeps Losing Wired Connection To WAP54G?

Apr 11, 2012

I have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81.  I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.

I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time.  I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time.  With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died.  The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything.  Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.

Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours.   Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.

I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1.  I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen.  I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.

In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out.  I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Connected To RVS4000 As Access Point

Feb 26, 2012

I use a E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the LAN of the E2000 (set for x.x.x.5) to the LAN of an RVS4000 (Set for x.x.x.1).  The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine..... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after everything boots up again..  I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless....

By using Ping Plotter, from a computer on wireless end, and another computer with Ping Plotter on the wired side of the x.x.x.1 LAN,  I've determined that it's the E2000 that has disconnected from the RVS4000.

I have found a work-around, though....No matter How the setting boots up, If I toggle away from and then BACK TO: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, Everything is back operational.....  Until the next Power Failure....

Is there any way of making this Automatic.

In another forum, there was a suggestion of putting the E2000 in Bridge mode in WAN settings... I can't find it....
