Access Point Wireless Router Compatibility?
Apr 1, 2012I have a cisco/linksys wireless router connected to a cable modem. Also a belkin universal range extender in another part of the house, which picks up the wireless router signal and boosts it - but not very strongly. The belkin RE can also be used as an access point. Can I run a wire & connect it to the cisco/linksys wireless router? Will my laptop pick up the wireless signal from either device depending where in the house it is?

Jan 19, 2013I have been successfully printing to my HP 8250 printer USB connected to my e4200 router for nearly a year from my xp ethernet pc and 2 windows 7 wireless laptops. Today nothing could print to it and when I deleted and tried to reinstall using cisco connect it tells me I am trying to connect an unsupported device both on ethernet XP PC and wireless windows 7 laptop. I have installed no new software or drivers this year. I have had to regress to attaching the printer back to the XP PC and sharing it which obviously means the PC now needs to be switched on to print.

I purchased a TPLink MA180 dongle to go with my TPLink MR3040 mobile router in the hope that by buying both components from the same manufacturer would avoid any compatibility issues; however despite many hours of trying I've not been able to get these two devices to work together. When I attach the MA180 dongle to the router, the status says that its "connecting", but it never connects (also the light on the dongle flashes to indicate its connecting, and doesn't stay green). Each of the components works independantly, for example if I plug the MA180 dongle into my laptop it connects to the 3G network ok, and if I connect the MR3040 to an ethernet it operates as a wireless router ok - but they don't seem to work together.I've upgraded the MR3040 firmware to the latest release, and reset everything back to the default settings to no avail. When running the quick setup wizard, the router correctly discovers that my mobile ISP is 3 UK, and automatically sets the dial number and APN for this network. I've also tried it with SIM card from a different mobile ISP (Virgin Mobile) and got exactly the same problem.

I managed to get my Huawei E3131 from ISP Telia in Sweden to work for 4 days, from the detailed specification from my ISP I can see 1,9GB of data was sent/received with modem+router during those days. The router lost contact with the modem about 3 times during those 4 days but after a restart it was up and running again.
After those 4 days the router cannot find the modem anymore and even though I have upgraded the firmware it does not work. (I have tried both firmware versions available online without success).
I cannot find my Huawei modem in the compatibility list over "Other Location" compatible modems since Sweden is not even an option.
How is it possible that I managed to get it to work for a few days but after that not again? I have tried connecting the 3G-modem to the laptop and then it works perfectly.
Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR41 V2.1 And Windows 7 / Vista Compatibility
Mar 18, 2010I have a wired BEFSR41 V2.1 with 1.46.02 firmware. It has been working fine with several varieties of W98SE, W2000, and XP machines over the years.When I installed VMWare a couple years ago, I noticed that the Vista VM didn't connect to the router. Since I was just testing some local stuff, I didn't bother to investigate or resolve the problem. Now I have a new HP Windows 7 machine, and it doesn't connect when connected to the router. The diagnostic doesn't think the cable is plugged in. When I plug the DSL modem directly into the W7 box, I can connect to the internet just fine. Also, I notice that when I plug the modem into the W7 box, there are some LEDs that flash on the network card inside the box.
However, when I plug the cable from the router (the same one that normally works fine with the XP machine) into the Windows 7 box, none of the LEDs on the network card flash. This is probably a hint that things aren't working.
I tried disabling the IPv6 protocol. That didn't work. I have the latest firmware for the V2.1 according to the Linksys support site. I tried a different cable. I tried several resets from the pinhole in the front of the router, several power cycles, and reboots of the W7 box.So I'm guessing that the BEFSR41 V2.1 with 1.46.02 is incompatible with Vista and Windows 7.

I have a compatibility problem with the 3G USB Modem ONDA MT191UP with 3220 V2 updated with the firmware 120822 uploaded on TPLINK web site . Every thing is ok , the wireless is created , but the internet connection is missing . The router does not show the USB led , and it remain always in "connecting" but nothing happen . Do you have some infor to be compatible this USB modem ( some firmware , some Bin file etc..) ?I checked the Huawei E1800 and it works perfectly.

Nov 7, 2011Our company recently inherited a group of locations that have Nortel 2270 WLC's with Cisco firmware and have a mixture of 1010 and 1030 LAP's. We are trying to map out an upgrade path for them but I am having difficulty getting the following information, even directly from Cisco. So I have the following questions:
1. Does the 2270 WLC support any other model of Cisco LAP other than the 1010 and 1030?
2. Will a newer controller, say a 2100 or 4400, be compatible with the 1010 and 1030 LAPs already at these locations?
3. Is there anywhere I can find a list of Cisco controllers (EOL and otherwise) and what LAPs they support?
Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSB54G Compatibility With Windows 7?
Oct 23, 2009I've noticed that my WUSB54GSC is completely unsupported by Windows 7, nor has Linksys published any new drivers. From browsing these forums and the internet, many other Linksys users are experiencing much trouble with getting their wireless adapters to work with Windows 7.So please, Cisco, publish new Windows 7 drivers... I'm completely taken back that there is nothing to do with Windows 7 anywhere on your site, and disappointed at none of your products being ready for the new Operating System. Im stuck with a useless router. I've tried for hours and hours to try random fixes i found on the internet, force install drivers preloaded on Windows 7, and force install the out of date Linksys drivers....to no avail. I still need to activate my Windows 7 online, and i can't activate it if my wireless adapter doesn't work. I will keep this in mind when i purchase routers/adapters in the future. I've already tried using the ra-link drivers to get my adapter working, but every time i get a "code 10" error stating that "This device cannot start". Any driver that i do install from Windows 7 pre loaded drivers ends up giving me that error. And all the out-of-date linksys drivers don't even successfully install the drivers...

Cisco Wireless :: Migrating From 4402 To 5508 - AP Compatibility
May 30, 2013We currently run six 4402 Wireless lan controllers - these are managed by a WCS server - soon to be replaced by Cisco Prime. We run a mixture of LAP1242 and LAP1142 wireless access points. I need to add more but have been told by my supplier that the both these AP's are now end of sale and cannot be purchased.
The replacement AP's are the 2600 series - but I have been told that these are not compatible with my existing 4402 controllers.
To make matters worse I was then advised that if I purchase the new 5580 controllers the older LAP1242 access points will not work with it and require replacing - this, for me, is a lot of access points.
What I need to know is:
What access points, if any, are currently available that are compatible with my 4402 controllers and a future 5508 installation?
I ssem to be in a situation now where I cannot buy any access points that will work with my 4402's but if I upgrade all my current 1242's will not funtion with the new 5508 controller!

Aug 26, 2012I have Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which I bought 3.5 years back. The laptop used to work fine before. I just shifted home 1.5 month back. Previously I used to have the wireless router always close to my laptop, so I never realized this issue. Now the wireless router (802.11n) for Fibre optics internet is in the ground floor and my studio is on 2nd floor. In my office latop, which is a new one, I get 3 out of 5 signal bars and get 34-56 mbps signal. But my Dell laptop does not get any signal, but when it is closer to the router it works fine.
if I buy an USB network Adapter device which is n series and supports upto 300mbps signal, then will it improve the situation? If yes, then which devices are preferred and how can I know whether that new device is compatible with my laptop settings (as this is a bit old one) or not? If not, then how can I improve the wireless reception? I have tried with booster etc already. I have also updated the network adapter drivers.the wireless card I have is: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN minicard?
