Every few minutes my WGR614v6 loses connection to the cable modem though the wireless in-house is strong. Cable modem being reset does not work. Resetting netgear router brings us back online but only for a few minutes. Have replaced power supply to router and it is still occurring.We have a desktop and 2 laptops online. Also, the notebooks always drop to 18mbps while the desktop stays at 54mbps.

I have set up this modem correctly as it will occasionally sync and internet will be connected for a short time 5-10 seconds then loses sync.Have asked ISP to check line and they say it is fine. I have upgraded to current firmware but same result.I purchased for wireless N and print server features.Have reverted back to 4+ year old Netgear DG834GV which works perfectly with same cabling, filter etc. ISP suggest connect VG3631 on ADSL 1 but if I need to do that I may as well take it back and buy a cheaper wireless AP.I also set my existing Netgear as modem only and connected to EWAN port of VG3631 and it did the same thing (kept dropping connection), this suggests that it is a VG3631 hardware or software problem (completely separate to DSL/Line issues).
First of all, this is how my connection looks like:
PC & Xbox 360 -> Router (Linksys WRT54GL with DD-WRT firmware) -> Modem (Arris TM602B) Everything is working just fine, except for every now and then (sometimes a few times per day), when my modem decides to "stop working" for a second or two. I do not know if it is exactly the modem, but i guess that it is.
What happens, is that for a second or two, all the lights on modem stop blinking or turns off, except "Power", "DS" and "US". Those lights stays turned on. After a second or two, all the lights continues working normally.
It would not even be that big of an issue, as i would not mind if my internet radio has stopped working for a second or if i had to wait a second before continuing with browsing the web, but it becomes an annoying issue, while i am playing video games on Xbox Live. This is what causes me to disconnect from an online game, even though, everything works normally after - until it happens again.
I recently purchased at Linksys X2000 Router/dsl modem, I ran the setup and everything works fine except for when I am trying to play games online with one device and surf the web on another device it keeps kicking one or both devices offline, but if only one of them is on it works fine.I have AT&T dsl and I have checked all my setting and the router was setup by linksys Cisco Connect program but it still gives me this issue.Is there anything I can do to fix this? My old WRT54G Router and AT&T dsl modem did not have this problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet connection seems to drop a lot, I'm using a WAG54G2 modem connecting via a wired connection; and my ISP is Iprimus and I'm running off an Adsl2+ connection.The light on the modem that goes out when I lose connection is usually the internet although sometimes it is the DSL light, when my connection drops out I also seem to lose speed when I reconnect, which I was able to fix by pulling the power plug out and putting it back in but it no longer works as often.
The top speed I have measured via 9url]... has been 350 kb/s and the lowest has been 12 kb/s.My phone line also has a loud crackly sound which goes away when I unplug my modem from the line.I used to be able to unplug my phone line to keep the connection up but that no longer works.
This problem is not consistent as I will have days when it is bad (slow connection speed and constant connection dropping) and days when it is alright (decent connection speed and hardly or no connection dropping).I am also running a few filters for my phone, I've tried taking the filters out but that doesn't fix it, I've tried unplugging the phone which used to work as I mentioned before but no longer does.Before I bought this modem I can't remember what I was using but that had history with locking out the connection which by replacing the modem fixed my bad connection for a 5-7 months.
I am having problems with my wireless internet. I am using windows 7 64-bit OS and am connected to a WRG614v6 Netgear router. I will be on the internet and will have superb connection then my connection will drop, when i view the network it says that i have lost IPv4 connectivity. Pulling the power to my router then powering it on again fixes the problem for a hour or two but then connection is lost again.Here is the readout when connection is stable

So i have AT&T dsl internet. but whenever i connect my computer wirelessly to the modem and get on the internet it repeatedly loses dsl connection every some odd minutes. the dsl light on my modem turns off, then blinks red, then fixes itself for five or so minutes until the cycle restarts. ive tried 2 wireless usb adapter and 1 internal wireless card. none have worked at all. but if its wired with an ethernet cord it works fine. we also have 2 other laptops that connect wirelessly and work fine. i dont understand what would cause this solely on my computer. ive also had AT&T come to my house and look at it and they said its fine, the issue is somewhere in my computer messing with the modem.

And before you ask, I've brought the DSL router as I'm moving in the next 12 months and my new base will not have access to cable internet and I'll be reverting back to DSL.
We have a E3200 wireless router but our only connection is wireless. There is no Ethernet connection or cable modem. Presently I am unable to bring up the web page ie...10.100.x.x for entering the id/pw to login. Router is setup with default settings. Is there a setting that needs to be changed from the setup menu or this type of setup will not work with this router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points. My computer has developed a habit of spontaneously having no internet connection even though it says the signal is as strong as it can be. When I began to investigate the issue I ran some diagnostics and the Internet IP ping test failed. I have no idea what that means or how to fix it. I did do a ipconfig/all on a c prompt and have the results I can post if anybody wants to see that. Beyond this I can't lend much more except to say that when it happens I can click on the troubleshooting and while it is trying to determine what the problem is (usually takes at most 30 seconds) the issue resolves itself and I can resume doing what I was doing. Last night was the worst it ever has been I had to restart my computer completely but once it had gone through the boot process and was in Windows again it was fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have wireless router F5D9230-4. I use this every day to connect to my employer's corporate network from my home, using a VPN connection via Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client.
Just about every day my VPN connection is interrupted and, although it "thinks" it is connected, it loses connectivity to my company's corporate resources. This occurs even though I'm connected to my router using a Cat5 cable. While this VPN connection is lost, my Internet connection keeps working.
When I use the same computer, even wireless, connected through other networks outside of my home, the VPN connection is never lost (or at least never that I remember).
When I wire my computer directly to my cable modem, this problem does not occur and my VPN connection stays connected throughout the day.
Note that I reset my wireless router to all default settings other than the password to access its management utility, to avoid any "weird settings" coming into play.
I wonder if this has to do with "VPN Passthrough" or the windows 7 firewall conflicting with my router's firewall?
I've been working with the IT department at my job for weeks on this and a resolution doesn't seem to be coming from that direction. I'm on calls every day that use this VPN connection and it's to the point where these VPN connection losses are embarrassing to me.
I use IE 8 to go to 192.168.0.1 as per what the cable modem says for connection, and I get nothing. So call the cable modem provider, they said it's their modem switch to a new modem, got the same error, then I somehow I can go to 192.168.0.1, but still no internet connection I try all the trick below still nothing

I am having trouble with one of my customer's networks and I think I have the problem narrowed down. r issues.I have a customer with a FS726T switch and ~20 computers connected to this switch running DHCP assigned addresses.The switch is assigning addresses in the 10.0.0.xx rangehe customer currently has an old T1 line coming into a Cisco router, which then directs traffic to port 20 on the switch.The problem is, we are replacing the old T1 line with a newer 50mbps cable connection.The cable company pre-configured their router with a static IP address the 68.116.xx.xx range. The Subnet is also different than the Netgear's subnet. I would like to keep the old T1 connection in place. I believe they have data that needs to go to their mainframe/backbone server at corporate.
I cannot log in to the cable modem. IT is an SMC SMCD3G with a staic IP. I tried changing my PC's IP address to the same gateway but cannot get into the cable company's modem, even using a static IP with the same gateway as the modem's gateway address. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
Cable modem connected directly to a Dell Vostro laptop works fine. Same cable reconnected to Dell Dimension 4700 is not working. This has all been working fine for years - usually I have a wireless network with the 4700 connected to the router by Ethernet cable, and the Vostro connected by wireless, but I have removed the router to close in on the problem.First, I am not sure if my ip settings are correct. We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.

I have a Motorola modem SURFBoard SB4200, along with a wireless Linksys router that connects to that modem. The router works normally but the modem often dies and restarts itself after about 1-2 minutes.
What could be causing this problem? How should I start debugging it?
Could an excessive amount of network traffic be bringing down the modem? Are there any tools that can monitor the modem?
So my boyfriend and I just moved and, after struggling with our old wireless router we haven't used in years (pretty sure it was dead), we bought a whole new one in the hopes that starting from scratch would be simpler. It's a Netgear and we were aiming to hook up three devices through it; my laptop, his computer, and our Xbox 360.
He hooked it up no problem and we were using wifi for our computers and one ethernet cable through the router into the Xbox, peach as pie... Except my Toshiba laptop decided to rebel and allow me to use the internet for about five minutes before claiming there's "no internet." The signal says excellent and the little alert symbol keeps appearing and disappearing, but no pages will load. I tried running troubleshooting, but it couldn't identify the problem. Shutting down my laptop and turning it back on seems to be the only way to get it going again for another five minutes until the cycle continues.
Im having problems with some toshiba laptops that arnt showing the SSID for some wireless points in the school. We have had the waps set up with the same ssid so we can walk around and the laptops will connect from one to the other. Its been like this for sometime however some new laptops we have got running windows 7 pro show some of the waps up as "other network" - File attached. The actual SSID on ALL waps is Peel Park WiFi Therefore it keeps losing connection to the wireless points and wont connect to some.

Using Windows Media Center I have been recording shows via an OTA antenna. They are in .wtv format and going on the 500GB HDD. Playing these files on my TV has been going well until this week. During playback we frequently lose the connection. I have tried power cycling the router and the player, re-entering my settings in the player and connecting via Cat 6 cable. The only clues I have are that I recently did a second firmware update on my player (did not occur immediately after that) and I sometimes get the following message on the computer... Media Foundation Protected Pipeline EXE has stopped working.

It seems to happen only when connected through our rooms or through wireless. When I connect directly to the router I don't lose connection. The router is downstairs and it routes the wired connection through a switch. So when routing through the switch or using wireless the connection is lost and re-connects about every 30 seconds to 1 minute. When directly connected it works fine. I've reset the router and reset all settings twice and nothing. I'm using 10/100. Not sure if any of this matters. I have also updated the firmware to 1.35NA. PPPOE password and username are correct as they have been given by our ISP. Any settings I should be aware of? Everything is pretty much default. All I do is setup the internet connection and then setup a wireless connection. Are we overloading the system maybe? I've also changed the password a few times as well. Seems like the logs fill up really fast. Keep getting blocked UDP and TCP packets from different addresses.

my Intel wireless card keeps losing the connection. Until a couple of weeks ago it would be fine for roughly the first 20 minutes then the connection would just completely drop out and the only way to get it back again is to go into the network and sharing centre, disable the network card and then reenable it. Most of the time this works, but again for only the first 20-30 minutes, then I have to do it again. Occasionally it works for for longer but that's a rare occasion.Now not only does it do this, but also, if I put my laptop into sleep, sometimes when I turn it back on again the card will not connect to the network and I have to do the same disable and enable process.[ODE]

Long story short, the person I live with is very private about the particular room its located in. I know the router is a "N" model Linkys.I installed the software that came with the PCI adapter (NETGEAR N300) and everything seemed smooth, then I constantly kept dropping connection. I then assumed the driver needed updating so I uninstalled the driver and re-downloaded the recommended driver from the netgear website,Things to know:
-I don't do any heavy gaming
-When I disable and reable the PCI adapter driver from device manager I can reconnect to the internet rather quickly.
-When uploading a video to youtube I found the connection to be more stable, but slower. (could of been a coincidence)
Currently I've been running "TCP view" to try to find something in the background taking bandwidth. I searched all the applications that it lists and nothing seems to be abnormal.
