Wireless Network No Ip Address?

Mar 3, 2012

DSL Line wall jack---> Westell 6100 DSL Modem -- Ethernet cable ----> (Intenet plug) CISCO WRT54GS2 Wireless Router --- Ethernet Cable (Devices plug)--> to Dell Desktop PC Windows XP *SP3I am merely just trying to setup the wireless network. Then I can reconnect the devices.have rebooted the computer, then the dsl modem, then the wireless router.. go to 192.168.1.1- nothing. Go to ipconfig /all No IP Addresses at all just the MAC address. When I had this hooked up before I had changed it from WPA to WEP for my son to access his 3ds, then back and forth to get the WII and my laptop, printer working.. I also had setup the wireless network on my laptop itself and left the pc out of the loop (no wireless card on the desktop)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 WAN IP Address Cannot Be Same Subnet As Guest Network IP Address

Jul 16, 2011

I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.

Wireless Network Stuck On Acquiring Network Address And Cannot Renew IP

Jul 5, 2011

A few days ago the internet on my desktop was working fine. now it has the 'limited or no connectivity' sign on it and i have done a few things to try and fix this. I started by trying a simple repair. it comes up with 'the following action can not be completed: Renewing your IP address' This lead me to try and restart my PC and router with no luck.

I then decided to look a bit further into it and went ito CMD and flushed the DNS. i then did 'ipconfig /release' which generated the response 'IP address for adapter wireless connection 9 has allready been released'. I then did 'ipconfig /renew' to which it generated an interestin response:

'An error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection 9 : The RPC server is unavailable'

I have made sure my DNS client is on automatic, alont with my RPC (this was uneditable). Its not a router problem as i have had multiple devices connected before and my laptop is working just fine connecting wirelessly.

Connecting IP Address From Wireless Network?

Apr 6, 2011

trying to get an IP address from a public wireless network. I am trying to connect to the wireless network here and I get good signal, but it says, that my access has "Limited Connectivity". I then tried to see why my laptop could not access the system and ran "ipconfig/all" in the command prompt. I pasted the results below. I don't know a ton about computers and why my computer will not get a correct IP address (it sends back that the IP address is 169.254.44.160 as opposed to a 10.xxx.xxx.x that the network should be passing out).

Wireless Stuck On Acquiring Network Address?

Oct 14, 2011

I'm running a Windows XP Dell laptop. A few days ago I completely reformatted the computer because it was just starting to run slow. I reinstalled Windows from the factory CD and downloaded the latest drivers from Dell's website. Now suddenly, after the reformat, my network connection gets stuck on "Acquiring network address." Running ipconfig shows either 0.0.0.0 or a blank space for each field.Other laptops in the house work fine.I did discover that I can get it to say "Connected" if I go into the advanced settings and manually enter an IP address and use the subnet and gateway from my desktop's ipconfig results. The problem is that I can't actually get on the internet. It just says it's "connected."

Wireless Laptop Can't Acquire Network Address

Jan 15, 2012

Wireless internet has been working fine on my Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop for years, until last night. I am getting strong wireless signal but my wireless network connection can't seem to acquire a network address - it just tries and tries without success. I also am getting a message that I need to check the box labelled "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" but after I have done this, it eventually seems to uncheck itself after a while or upon reboot.

Wireless Speed Lagging - Slow To Acquire Network Address

May 25, 2012

My network key was changed recently, and it took a few tries for my laptop to connect, but when it did it was fine. Then the key was changed again, and now my wireless is wonky. Sometimes it can't find the network, other times it will find it but then can't acquire a network address, and if it does manage to connect (sometimes it will as soon as I click 'Cancel' when it's taking forever to get the address) it starts slowing down and then speeding up again. The settings have not changed on anything, other than the network key.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WPC54G V1.2 Can't Acquire Network Address

Jan 31, 2012

Have an old laptop running XPSP2 with a WPC54G V1.2 card that I use for email when traveling.  Had no problems accessing my old home network that ran off of a WRT54G V 5.0 wireless router, nor with any of the "motel wireless networks" when I travel.  I changed ISPs and now have an Actiontec PK5000 wireless router.

When I attempt to connect I get an error message "unable to acquire network address."

This new router has the following 64 bit and 128 bit settings

wpa-wpa2 personal
wpa personal
wpa2 personal
wep
security off

Using any of the security settings I get the error.  Turning off security allows me to connect fine.

I realize this is a pretty old wireless card so is it possible it doesn't work with the current encryption standards but I would have thought that wep would have worked.  The driver for the card is V3.3.15.0 which is also old.  Would updating the driver work and if so what driver? If a new card is the only way any recommendations for an inexpensive card?

Wireless :: Dell Latitude D810 - Unable To Get Valid IP Address On Network

Feb 3, 2012

I have a Latitude D810. recently unable to get connection on wireless or wired. Lights are on on port plug.I can see the network, when I run troubleshooter on the Proset/Wireless Wifi Connection utility It says the wireless adaptor failed to get IP address and could be due to authentication failure with the network, incorrect wireless security passwords or because of DHCP server malfunction.I did the passwords, checked the router, all is ok there. My new computer works fine on this wireless network as well as my wired desktop. I suspect this happened as a result of a security change that windows XP or whatever security soft ware that's in there did, but cannot figure out how to undo or reset this.

Uninstalled Network Adapters As Laptop Was Acquiring Network Address?

May 20, 2012

... and made a fundamental mistake of uninstalling adapters hastily without looking into it. Now when I try to re-install the adapters, I'm running into difficulties. Specifically, I don't have the CD-ROM I originally must have used, and the following message is popping up: "Files Needed - The file 'atl02_2k.sys' on Atlansic Fast Ethernet Adapter Installation Disk is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click OK." Unfortunately, I don't have any idea if there is a path where this is located, so installation cannot complete.

The reason I took this option to begin with was that the wireless connection on my laptop [Asus, Windows XP] was acquiring network address without ever connecting fully to the internet. I had previously tried another of other methods, such as manually entering an IP address, to no avail.

Netgear WNR612 Wireless Router - Network Error Message Saying Windows Has Detected IP Address Conflict

Jan 5, 2013

I have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.

Cannot See IP Address On Network

Feb 6, 2012

I have a network using static IP's on which are 1) Ricoh printer IP address on router, 2)Toshiba Laptop XP Pro 3) Desktop PC Win XP Pro, 4) HP Laptop Win 7.

With ONE exception, all devices can see each other - shared folders are visible and able to be be modified - and I can ping IP's / print to the printer. The Toshiba CANNOT see the printer, cannot ping the printer IP. It can ping the other laptop and the pc and they can see & ping the Toshiba.

I can install the printer to the Toshiba and it 'knows' the IP address to connect using a standard TCP/IP port that is installed in Printer ports. The printer installs fine and I ca nsend print jobs to the printer but they do not print. Eventually an error message comes up saying the job was not sent to the printer.

The work group is Workgroup on all 3 computers. (Cannot set a workgroup on printer).

I have done everything I can think of but I simply cannot get the Toshiba to see the IP address & port. THe subnet & gateway are the same on all devices and the IP's are all in the same 'set' (xx.y.y.12 = printer, xx.y.y.15 = Toshiba, xx.y.y.14 = Desktop, xx.y.y.9 = HP)

Acquiring Network Address

Dec 13, 2011

my daughter accessed a website and got the XP Security 2012 virus on her laptop. Then she went on my pc and did the same thing. Fortunately, it appears that I have gotten both systems cleaned up. At this point my system seems to be fully functional, but her laptop is another story. It is working ok, except that we cannot connect to the internet/network with it. It seems to be stuck on the "acquiring network address" loop. I am not super computer savvy, but I have looked at the device manager for issues (found none).
