Is it possible to use the unoccupied Ethernet cable slot to hardwire into a router and use the router to send out the wireless signal picked up by the USB card to other devices?I know I shared my connection like this to my xbox 360 but wasn't sure if it could be used with a router.

-working fine until I unplugged to move it and plugged it in
-verified with tech support the problem is not physical
-right now, am hardwired to the router, which is hardwired to the cable modem, and connectivity is fine through hardwiring
-no luck through wireless - this is the error message I get:

I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm trying to optimize my E4200 settings and Ive noted that ping and download speeds are extremely slow for the internet service I signed up for. Ping speeds are consistently more than 1000ms and dowload speeds typically are less than 3Mbps. These are for both wireless and wired connections to the E4200 router.
When I disconnect the router and hardwire my laptop directly to the the modem, ping speeds are less than 100ms and download speeds are 20Mbps.
Simply put, webpage loading is at a snails pace with wireless and wired connection the router, but blazing fast when hardwired directly to the modem.
On a seperate issue, the iMac I have is also **bleep** slow even when hardwired directly to the modem. Is there an obvious router setting Im screwing up? Router is updated with the latest software.
In my main office, I have a cable modem which is connected to my main E4200 router. All of my equipment (except my Ooma) is served by the E4200. The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network. In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.
I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).
How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.
Win7, wrt54gs,
It works sometimes. I imagine it has a noise problem since sharing files works, internet works. I cannot remember how to change channels on this router to save my life, though. What is special about sharing a printer?

I need to use it as a router now so I am trying to get into the configure page. After resetting the router, the IP address is still the not the default one. I still can't access it. When I type in ipconfig in the command prompt all it shows is the ip address that connects to my modem. This is what it shows when i type in ipconfig /all. 192.168.15.3 only directs me to my modem's set up page. This is confusing me, is the router not being recognized?

we were happily getting along with our RCN cable Motorola modem and DLink wireless 655 until the last couple of weeks. The internet would intermittently not be available, without warning. First couple of times we power cycled the modem and router, and it worked, but then stopped being available altogether. I got some support from RCN, the cable provider (they own the modem and it's old, so naturally that was my first thought). I now have a new modem and the situation is exactly the same. The error message that I get is that the IP address for the network cannot be found.
I got internet access by bypassing the router, connecting the modem directly to my (Windows XP) PC, releasing and renewing the IP address, and power cycling the modem. However, the internet still intermittently shuts down, and of course turning off the computer necessitates the whole procedure again. And now we have no wireless. Should we assume it's the router, and a new one would solve our problem? Of do we just need to reset the IP address of the router?
Le Pan 2 tablet keeps trying to "obtain IP address." I have a dlink 655 router. I've removed the password from the router. Rarely will the tablet connect.

I always run speed test to verify, and it always runs back up at advertised speeds once i hard boot.
Why would this be happening?
I recently purchased a Linksys E1200 router. I have two desktops (Windows XP) hardwired into the router, one of which is not connecting at all.I have talked to Linksys tech support 3 times already and they have not been able to fix the problem. Pinging a website got a request timeout.Pinging the router got a good response. It was properly assigned an IP address, but did not connect through the router.Under Network Connections, it displays as "Connected" but is still not able to access the Internet.
