Connecting IP Address From Wireless Network?

trying to get an IP address from a public wireless network. I am trying to connect to the wireless network here and I get good signal, but it says, that my access has "Limited Connectivity". I then tried to see why my laptop could not access the system and ran "ipconfig/all" in the command prompt. I pasted the results below. I don't know a ton about computers and why my computer will not get a correct IP address (it sends back that the IP address is 169.254.44.160 as opposed to a 10.xxx.xxx.x that the network should be passing out).

12 hours ago, my laptop connected to my home's wireless network, no problem. The only event between then and the next time I logged in was that the ethernet cable was unplugged from the router, to be plugged directly into the Xbox. After it was reconnected, my laptop was recieving the signal, and the other home computers connect to internet just fine, but the laptop is locked out of the network. Error message when I click Connect:"Unable to acquire an IP address while connecting to Wi-Fi. Please check your settings and contact the system administrator if the problem persists."I have already tried restarting the computer, the modem, and the router. I do not want to reset the modem to factory settings.

I have a high speed wireless DSL router from my ISP (Telus). I use one port off the router to connect directly to my desktop computer. Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration.But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.

I've got a WRT54G v6 that is password protected via WPA2 Personal TKIP+AES, and SSID broadcast enabled. In the Status menu > Local Netork > DHCP Clients Table there is a MAC Address listed that none of my devices have.

We have a 5508 with 7.4.100.0 vor Internal APs and OEAPs. till now every thing is ok. Now we have to connect an AP (local) in a remote office, connected to the WLC by a VPN Tunnel. The problem is that the AP in the remote office uses the NAT Address to connect to the WLC, so the traffic goes over the Internet, not trough the VPN Tunnel. On the controller I have the following setting:
AP Discovery - NAT IP Only ................. Disabled
On the AP:
AP Link Latency.................................. Disabled
How to force the AP to use the internal IP Address of the WLC?

A few days ago the internet on my desktop was working fine. now it has the 'limited or no connectivity' sign on it and i have done a few things to try and fix this. I started by trying a simple repair. it comes up with 'the following action can not be completed: Renewing your IP address' This lead me to try and restart my PC and router with no luck.
I then decided to look a bit further into it and went ito CMD and flushed the DNS. i then did 'ipconfig /release' which generated the response 'IP address for adapter wireless connection 9 has allready been released'. I then did 'ipconfig /renew' to which it generated an interestin response:
'An error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection 9 : The RPC server is unavailable'
I have made sure my DNS client is on automatic, alont with my RPC (this was uneditable). Its not a router problem as i have had multiple devices connected before and my laptop is working just fine connecting wirelessly.

We have a cisco asa5510 firewall, A user at home has a avaya ip phone which connects in on the VPN to the cisco asa5510, for some reason it keep dropping the connection then re connecting on a different IP address(see attached screen shot) thus losing the phone.

I have setup an AnyConnect Connection Profile on my ASA 5520.
We have some remote support software which the helpdesk use to connect to PC's remotley and torubleshoot.
I cannot connect to this software using the assigned IP address of the client even though it works fine with our old Nortel VPN.
If I hit the IP address the packet gets all the way to the ASA and seems to disappear.
I have setup an IP v4 access list on the connection profile which allows any/any access b ut still no joy.

connecting a VPN with a dynamic IP address (its a Draytek 2700)We have a customer who has a PIX515E on the central site .Than there are more 2 sites where he installed 2 Draytek 2700 ,and contracted 2 fixes IP addresses for them.These are working fine and always did.In another site they are doing building renewals ,só they will not have ADSL for about 2 month,and they connected a 3G Internet access wich is connected to a Draytek 2710 ,internet wich is working fine,but doesnt have a fixed ip address.
I had search a lot in Cisco support pages,but i can´t find this solution,cause the examples are only to 1 dynamic peer ,not mixed(multiple fixed ip addresses + 1 or more dynamic)The PIX also needs to receive VPN connections from remote users who connect via Cisco VPN client(is working fine too) [code] I know now that when a communication starts from that dynamic peer to the PIX ,PIX doesnt know in wich group he should assign it.So the communication stops.i tried to create a group-policy...but i dont know how to associate it with the tunnel group.I also know that we can just associate 1 crypto map to each interface.

So I just got a wireless presentation gateway wpg 120 to connect to projector wirelessly. For me to connect to the projector i need to set wireless network to its wireless connection. My problem is my laptop is not connecting to the only network in my home and I can connect to all other wireless networks around.Also there is no problem with the router/modem coz all my room mates can connect and access internet wireless and also through Ethernet.Even I'm able to connect to the home network using Ethernet but not wireless. The router is a Sagem provided by my ISP (Sky). The wireless connection works fine on my MacBook, and various other devices connect no problem with the security key.
However, his laptop (Windows Vista) will not connect wirelessly. After entering the password, it says it can't connect because it 'times out' (we are obviously entering the password immediately with no delay). It connects fine with an ethernet cable. It will also connect to an unsecured wireless network we can pick up.
The security setup is WPA-PSK with TKIP encryption, and we've made sure he is using these settings.
If it might be important, he has just moved here, and previously his laptop was connected to another Sky router with no problems.

I recently set up a VPN on my home computer. I am wondering if it is possible for me to connect to the internet via the VPN without also being connected to the internet via my home wireless network? Right now, whenever I disconnect from my home wireless network, my connection to the VPN will also cut off. This is a problem because should my connection via the VPN ever be interrupted, my home wireless connection would then "take over" the connection, and the eb sites I'm visiting would then be able to see my real IP address, which makes having a VPN pointless. I'd like to have it so that if my VPN connection is interrupted, I will simply not have internet until the VPN connection comes back.
I am running Windows 7.

I'm trying to connect my XP laptop to a home wireless network and I keep getting the following error once I enter in the passcode provided by my ISP:The network passcode needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters.I have an iphone, 3 ipads, one windows 7 pc and a mac connected to the network with no problems. The password provided by the ISP is 25 characters (letters and numbers). I would hate to have to change the password on all my devices for one Windows XP laptop. I've called Netgear who make the wireless router and they said the only solution was to change the password for all devices.

I can however use a mobile broadband usb dongle and connect to the internet with no problem - appears to be a problem with connecting via something other than mobile broadband?

I have a wireless network at home but my laptop does not connect to it. The network works as my iPhone connects to it az well as my PS3. The laptop finds the network and has full bars for connectivity but it is only on a local network. I don't have a P.C in the home, the only time I can go online is when the laptop is plugged in. We have printers connected to the network, but I need a standalone printer connected to my workstation due to the confidential nature of some of my printing.I chose a small wireless printer as I already am being strangled with wires and cables.I went thru the wireless installation, and was told to connect PC to printer via USB.I finally got a connection, but not the one I wanted. we have a linksys e4200 wireless router we don't have people connecting to it often but people do occasionally. Everyone can connect to the network drives fine (as far as I'm aware) except for one laptop. It's a windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit . It has no problem connecting to the internet just a problem connecting to the drives.

I've got a wireless TP-LINK router with an ADSL connection.It got 1 ADSL port and 4 LAN ports. I will be temporarily moving to another house for a couple of months.The internet connection type in that house is LAN.I'm not so sure that this the right term but it's not ADSL or dial up,it's just a cable connected to the PC from the rooftop which got a small device that's connected to the provider's office .I need wifi for my galaxy s3.
1-Is it actually possible to connect a LAN connection to a router and use wifi ? If so,are there any installion steps other than just connecting the cable to the router?
2-Will this affect my adsl connection when I go back to the house with the adsl connection ?

I'm trying to add another wireless router to my network. It's a home network using a Charter cable modem/wireless router in the main house. To connect a second building to the router I have used a CAT-6 cable to connect to the modem/router combo, I need to do this because the second building has a metal roof and doesn't allow wireless connection to the cable modem. I want to be able to use wireless in the second building.
My question is, the CAT-6 cable coming into the second building from the cable modem/router is coming from a LAN port. Would I connect that cable into the WAN port of the second wireless router or into a LAN port?

I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points. Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's. The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out. If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly. Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?
I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap. See diagram below. Not sure if this has some impact?

after recently moving out of my parents house to go to university, my laptop has stopped connecting properly to my wireless network at my parents house. It connects, but says that I either have no internet access or limited access. This does not happen to any other device connecting to the network, and my laptop doesnt have trouble connecting to any other wireless network.

My Toshiba laptop running Vista as an operating connects just fine to the wireless network at my house. However, I will soon be house-sitting at a house that also has security-enabled wireless available. I connect just fine at my house, but whenever I put in the password at their house it says that that it cannot connect because of a timeout. I can't figure out what the problem is, because I recently went to the public library that has wifi and got on just fine. why in the world it will not connect to this specific wireless router??
