I recently installed a Hawking HW2R1 Wireless Repeater to extend the range of our network in the office. Is there any way to set it up so that the signal it's broadcasting has the same SSID and WPA key as the primary network in the office without causing a conflict? Ideally someone would be able to walk from one end of the office to the other without having to disconnect from Work1 and connect to Work2.
i just got the Hawking HW2R1 and first i went through the setup as instructed but after all was done i tried connecting to the device from my computer. I was able to connect to the device but I didn't have any internet access (there was the little exclamation point next to the network icon). I know this is not due to internet problems with my router because my router (a Linksys befw11s4) has perfect internet connection. After this i called customer support. After an hour of talking to the person and going through many processes he says that we have tried all options available and told me about returning it.
For the past year my wireless has been working great and I have being playing games/doing homework with no hassle. Yestetday my internet connection became very slow. After countless restarts, router/modem resets nothing has changed and I only get like 5kb of download speed. Since my internet connection was lost naturally I unplugged the wireless card and re-plugged it, didn't change anything. After that I restarted my computer, but nothing changed. AFTER THAT I unplugged my router, then reset my router to factory settings, which did not change anything. Since everything was backed up I thought I would reinstall Windows 7 to nuke any hidden problems. After 2 reinstalls of Windows 7, nothing has changed. Next I had Comcast reset my connection with them which did not work. Though it did work with my brothers desktop. After some more time just fiddling around my connection went back to lightning speeds. no.....4 hours later my connection went dead.At all times my computer will see my network but it either will not connect to it or it is really really slow now.

still trying to improve my signal to a Roku unit in a New York aparment (about 60 feet away BUT throught several walls) Cannot see the 5MhZ and the 2.4 is weak. Had been recommended the D Link DAP 1360 but it seesm older and gets lower rating on Amazon. An extender that gets higher ratings is the HAWKING HWREN1 (PS also seems older -- 2004...)
We have a Hawking HPS12U device that we are using as the print server for our HP Laser 4L printer. We just installed a new Belkin N600 DB router and now the Hawking device is not being recognized. I am using Windows 7. I tried downloading “software_HPS12URevB.exe” and it still does not work.
I have a Hawking 300N and I have misplaced my disk and I neing walked through this to have it set back up. I hooked it all up correctly and it says no internet connection
Is it possible to assign a single ssid to multiple interface groups by assigning the ssid to multiple AP groups?
I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building. Each building is also further grouped as AP groups. I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building? I'm thinking it will work.
Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?
D-link DIR-655 router set to only N Old Netgear Router used as access point set to only G (I set up as an access point by turning off DHCP, changing the IP adresss and set to only G.) Wireless Printer (only G Capable) Cell Phone (only G Capable) 2 Laptops (both N capable) iPad (N Capable) Roku Media Box (N capable)
Problem: If I put the router and access point on the same SSID then equipment that is N capable will connect to the G network. If I use two different SSID's then the printer is unreachable. Is there a way of either (a) having two SSID's but allow the printer to be seen or (b) having one SSID, with separate access points for N and G but not allow N functioning client to connect to the G access point.
Several days ago I had to change my router. The new one works OK except that I can't get the PC to link into the wireless while the SSID isn't being broadcast. Having read that it is a good idea not to broadcast the SSID for security reasons, I thought I would try it!
I am running Windows 7 home Premium and the router is a Draytek Vigor 2710 using WPA2. I can see the network when the SSID isn't being broadcast, it just refuses to connect to it. As soon as I switch on the SSID it connects like a dream.
With the risk of sounding like I'm looking for a "personal shopper", I'm looking for your opinions on a new wireless router for a small business. We already have a WatchGuard firewall. We are just looking to provide visitors and staff wireless access. We want visitors to only be able to access the internet, but we want staff to be able to access the corporate network as if they were plugged in via Ethernet. (RADIUS - AD authentication).
I have my all my computers, printers setup with a wireless network with dsl modem connected to linksys wireless router. I just signed up with comcast with another wireless router. I do not want to reconfigure all the laptops and printers with the new comcast wireless SSID. Is there a way I can connect the linksys router with existing SSID with the comcast router and using the internet speed of comcast. (note. will disconnect service with dsl)
We have a pretty good sized church and gym and we're thinking about getting three 1041n to cover the whole area. If we setup all three exactly the same, with the same ssid and password, but just put them on different channels, will our devices automatically hop from ap to ap as we walk around? Is there anything special we should do to make them work better together?
how i can have internet connection again. here's what happened, i disabled the Broadcasting SSID and the after that my devices can no longer locate the wifi, and then when i cant configure the setting back to its original settings because i cannot establish a connection with the mf30 and my laptop eventhough it's via USB.
House has 2 floors. I want to install 2 E3200, one on each floor, but both with the same SSID/Password, etc. so internet connection/streaming throughout the floor is seamless.
Both floors have network wall sockets ready and they all lead to the same modem/router so all devices plugged lead to the same network.
PS. both E3200 have been update to Firmware Version: 1.0.03
I will soon upgrade my wireless network from a WRT610N to an E4200v2. At setup of the router, I assume I'll be able to change the SSID of the E4200v2 and I plan to keep the same SSID as on my old router. With the same SSID as currently seen by the devices on my network
Version 12.3 I currently have an open authenication customer network, I would like to add a second securt ssid for my sales department, is this possible, how do I do this, the more specific the better .
I'm trying to setup 2 VLAN's 1 for Native Traffic on my Corp network and another VLAN for Guest Wireless traffic. I have attached the Config from my Cisco AP1231 and my Cisco 3750. I have the AP plugged into port 24 on my switch. I seem to have the VLAN's working fine. I can get the AP1231 to broadcast both SSID's and the very first time i can connect everything seems to work fine. after i power down my switch and AP i cannot connect to either SSID. I get the message Not Connected.
I have setup'd two 1142 AP's as mesh.The sceneario is like this:
MAP ------ RAP---------SW----------Router
I've done all the configuration through my WLC (Flex7500) and the mesh neighborship is up.The problem is not the MAP nor the RAP broadcasts my SSID.I've joined them to the same SSID and nothing.
What I want is to have 1 SSID for all 6 WAP so all employee from 2 floor building can access.
WAP # 1 connect to LAN with cabe and setup as Master with WDS Bridge enabled. WDS interface is also enable with MAC address input from WAP #2; WAP #3 & WAP#4.WAP #2 connect to WAP #1 via wireless with WDS Bridge enabled. WDS
I can't configure the SSID more than one in the web UI of the WAP4410N. Except I can type the first SSID1, the rest SSID2 - 4 are grey which not allow me to type in anything. ( See attached the screen shot ) My current version is 2.02.1 and I was using IE8 under windows 7.
I have a 4410N set up on my network. I'm using 4 VLANs on my network, of which, I use my default VLAN 1, as the "public" VLAN which we use to give our clients free WiFi. I would like to have two SSIDs visible from the access point, one unsecured and connected to VLAN 1, and the other secured with WPA2 and connected to our office VLAN on which various servers and resources are available. My preference is for both SSIDs to be visible, as there is not a major security issue and as the only IT person, I do not have time to configure every computer which uses the network with the SSID, but I'll do that if I have to.
I set up the 4410N with it's first SSID using our public WiFi name and did not put any security on it. I went to the VLAN page and set it to use VLAN 1 as both the default VLAN and the VLAN for the first SSID. Then I went back to the Basic Settings page and added a second SSID and chose "Enabled". I went to the Security page and left most things as default (Wireless Isolation between SSIDs is enabled) and changed the security settings for the office SSID to WPA2-Personal. Finally I went to the VLAN page and set it's VLAN to 4.
When I go back to my computer, or from other wireless devices, I only see the public SSID, not the office. I do see on my computer (Win7 x64) an "Other Network" option, but the signal strength on that network is significatnly weaker than that of the public SSID. Also, if I try to connect to it using the office SSID name and the password I set, it doesn't connect.
Am I completely misunderstanding how multiple SSIDs are supposed to work? I am working from a lot of assumptions here.
PS I have no clue if this would affect it, but in the interest of listing all possible factors, the 4410N is powered via PoE and the switch port it is connected to is set to 802.1Q with 1-4 set as the VLANs.
After posting this I discovered that in the Wireless Status page, both SSIDs are listed, but only one (the public SSID) has a MAC listed. I assume I need to add one somewhere. Where should I do this, and what's a "safe" MAC to use that won't conflict with anything?
I have an issue where I have an AP in one room and another in another. When I walk from one room to the other, I lose signal but manages to see the SSID and join. But, I cannot seem to surf the Internet, I have to manually disconnect and reconnect. Normal wireless routers I reconnect seamlessly without any manual disconnect & reconnect.Currently using cisco 5508 and ap2600.
I have Cisco 4404 WLC with Image 7.0.235.0 We have one SSID Sup_Admin with following config. Which is getting the IP address from the interface pool “corp”.
WPA+WPA2 with AES and TKIP Auth key Mgmt is 802.1X
We are using Cisco ACS as radius server On the same WLC I have created another SSID Corp_Admin . Which also should get the IP address from the interface pool “corp”. Both SSID has the same settings ,but the second SSID is not working.
we have two offices in same city at different location however we are planning to bring both the office at same location. Now lets say site A has controller 5508 configured with 24 AP's with 10.10.10.x subnet for internal SSID and Site B which is shifting to Site A campus has different subnet ( 10.10.20.x ) for same SSID.Site B has no controller since they had connection with H-reap and they were using different subnet for internal SSID ( 10.10.20.x ) .....Now i need to add their AP's in Site A controller which will be extended wireless LAN however we would like to keep same subnet ( 10.10.20.x ) what Site B has for wireless clients which is really confusing me ....I have already client subnet for site A with 10.10.10.x /24 subnet and nearly 200 users are already using this wireless client subnet.... How do i add their ( Site B ) subnet / 10.10.20.x with same SSID configured which is globally only one SSID ?
limitations :I can not create new SSID for site B since same will be broadcasting even in Site A AP's ?Is this possible to map one more subnet of site B to existing SSID with already different subnet ( 10.10.10.x ) ?
I have an issue where I cannot get clients to change SSID. I have two SSID, one WPA2 secure, one open guest. The secure is locally switched via Flexconnect and the guest is centrally switched. Both of them work. I have been able to test this and both work as intended. The problem is that once you connect to one of them, either secure or guest, you cannot then change to the other. The only way to change is to delete the dhcp entry from the scope and then do it.
Fast SSID change is enabled. I also have debug client output from when the client fails when you try to switch which I will include below. I also pulled some wireshark captures and those show me that the DHCP ack packets are trying to give the client the ip address from the incorrect/previous scope. So basically it's like FAST SSID change is not working and the client is never being disassociated properly??
I am totally stumped and even though the client will most likely not be switched between SSID that often I would still like to know the solution.

on my wlc4400 when i want to move from one SSID (PEAP for eg) to another (Guest Open for eg) i have to : - disconnect from the 1st SSID (no trouble at this stage)- try to connect to the 2nd SSID ... cancel it (or wait for a long time it will stop)- try to connect another time to the 2nd SSID .. and now it works We are using windows client. The trouble is the same with all the cients.
I'm setting up a new 5500 (Software Version 6.0.188.0 ) and i have a similar trouble (but more important I want to move from the entreprise SSID (PEAP) to Guest (Open) I have to : -
Disconnect from the entreprise SSID (no trouble at this stage)- try to connect to the Guest SSID ... cancel it (or wait for a long time it will stop)- try to connect to the Guest SSID ... -> DHCP assignement waiting ... and fail- try to connect to the Guest SSID .. and now it works
I want to move from Guest (Open) to the entreprise SSID (PEAP) i have to : -
Disconnect from Guest SSID (no trouble at this stage)- try to connect to the entreprise SSID ... cancel it (or wait for a long time it will stop)- try to connect to the entreprise SSID ... -> Sometimes it works ... sometimes the client display "not connected" very quickly- try to connect to the entreprise SSID .. and now it works?
