Cisco Wireless :: Wap121 SSID For DHCP & Web Only

View 1 RepliesI want to know how to configure ACL to have access to dhcp and web only.My router does not support tag vlan.
View 1 RepliesI have Internal DHCP Server configured on the Cisco WLC 5508 and all is working fine. DHCP Range is 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.245. Now I created another SSID but I want clients connecting to this SSID get specific IP's or from a specific range. WLC has no option to bind a DHCP pool to a specific IP so what I did I checked the option to "Override DHCP" and added the IP of my firewall WLC is connected to and setup a DHCP Pool on that firewall as 192.168.1.89 to 192.168.1.94 (192.168.1.88/29).
Client can connect to the second SSID but can't grab and IP address, what am I missing ?
We created the management interface, an internal DHCP scope in same subnet, and Two SSID tied to the same management interface:
- when we connect to the first SSID we have and IP address
- but when we connect to the secone SSID: impossible to get an ip address - auth and association are OK
I have a 5508 WLC controller at the HQ with the employee ssid ,the dhcp scope on the ssid is 10.120.0.0/16 network.
However,I want this same ssid to be brodcasted to a remote site using HREAP access point but with different dhcp scope 10.102.0.0/16.
I have tried creating another interface for the remote site with a different dhcp scope(10.102.0.0) but the controller wont allow me create another wlan with same ssid that existed before to apply the new interface created for.
Setup a WAP321 with the new 1.0.1.10 firmware. Setup 2 SSIDS:
WIRELESS (vlan:1)
GUEST (vlan:99)
The wap is plugged directly into a port on my router so I configured the port and additional vlan99 port. I have a DHCP scope assigned on the router to both the port and port.99 interfaces.clients on WIRELESS have no problem and work correctly, however when a client joins guest...a packet capture on the router port shows that a dhcp request is being received for the same MAC on both untagged and tagged 99 interfaces....thus it appears the WAP is not handling the vlans properly

I need raise a especial configuration to 34 APs LWAPP associated to WLC 5508 with IOS 7.0.220
This is the Scenario:We have 34 APs LWAPP with 2 SSID (Corporative & Guest), with 2 DHCP different. The Guest SSID receive IP to DHCP from WLC while SSID Corporative receive IP from Microsoft DHCP. The AP On Site are Local and the Foreign AP are configured like H-REAP (H-REAP Local switching and Learn Client IP Address are marked)
Here is the thing, I need configure a new WLAN (Pruebas) for add to 34 APs (Local and Foreign) but this new WLAN must be receive IP from a New Microsoft DHCP
Firstly I configured a new Physical interface and linked to New WLAN (Pruebas) however i don't know how configure the AP and the DHCP because I want that the AP deliver IP addresses depending the Locality. The last because the SuperScope from DHCP is divided in various subnets and because the IP from the AP will be in another VLAN
i' ve got 2 cisco 1130 AG AP's , i want both of them to broadcast 2 ssid's per AP, i've done so far but my clients cannot get a ip adress from the dhcp server.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a cisco wlan controller (2100) running software 7.0.235.0. I have the internal private wlan running off of port 1 and that is working fine with an internal dhcp server. Is it possible to setup another ssid (guest) and have the interface directly linked to a static ip on the WAN and also use the built in cisco internal dhcp server?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have two 5508 ver 7.3.0, one is the primary and one is the guest controller. mobility is up and running. i have an exising guest ssid working with wpa2-psk and web authentication and its working fine but i require a second guest ssid that only uses a wpa2-psk for ipod/ipads as i cant use passive client on primary controller. i presently have the one vlan range and dhcp setup on the guest controller to give addressing to either ssid. i know you can have multiple ssid setup on the guest controller but in other sites i have only had one guest connection comming from the primary controller, just a primary controller on each sites was only creating one link to the same guest controler.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a network of multiple WLCs: 5508, 4402, WISMs in two C6509 all running version 7 software. We have about a dozen SSIDs and we need to provide DHCP to the one public SSID (which like the other SSIDs span across all controllers) and to do so we thought of using a spare router, Linux workstation or DHCP server on the controllers. We are not sure if using the controllers is an option since we have multiple controllers. Is there a way to setup DHCP on a WLC and tell the others to use that WLC for DHCP for the one SSID?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the firmware on my wap121 and the URL redirect option is now gone. The docs all talk about using Captive portal but that is only on a wap321. How can I get the redirect back so customers who connect to my network see the site for our bar before they go on the internet?
I upgraded from the 1.0.0.3 to the latest (1.0.2.3)
I'd like to know if WAP121 can be centrally managed by WLC, such as CT5508.
If WAP121 cannot be centrally managed by WLC, is there any way to minimize operation work to manage WAP121?
My question is if I can configure 3 ssid, for 3 different VLAN and add the DHCP address from a WAP4410N AP, when you upgrade to the latest version of IOS I can have this functionality?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I connect my WAP121 directly to my router, it works just fine. But when I connect it to my SG100D-08P switch I can see it but when I connect, I get "limited connectivity" and it cannot "identify". The switch is PoE and everything looks to be working fine, but I have tried it both PoE and regular thru the switch; nothing works. Can't understand why if I connect it cat-cable going into the switch it works fine, but when I coonect it thru the switch, I have problems. I thought this switch was unmanaged, but something is going on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have 4 WAP121s running 1.0.1.10. After a couple of days of operation, they all become unusably slow. The admin web interface takes several minutes to load, and wireless clients timeout before RADIUS authentication can complete. Waiting long enough allows the diag info to be downloaded, which shows hostapd using all of the CPU time available: [code]
As a workaround, we used to use a small script to reboot them every night via SSH, but someone at Cisco made a less-than-brilliant decision to remove this advertised feature.
Just got several of these Cisco WAP121 AP's and today had a nightmare with one of them. On one of our areas with no broadband access we have installed the "Globe Surfer 3+ 3G Router" which incorperates its own Wireless AP.
I needed to get decent wireless access further down the building, so the idea was to use the WAP121 and setup WDS with the Globesurfer. No matter what guides I followed I could not get the WAP121 to talk to the Globe Surfer for internet access.
using the WAP121 and a Third party router ?OR, is this a case that the WAP121 wont work with a 3rd party router ?
I get the message "Firmware upgrade has failed. Please ensure that valid entries were specified in the required fields." when I try upgrade the firmware rootfs.bin.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBought multiple WAP121s which are physically connected via CAT5 to the Ethernet NIC of a printer. Printer is in a warehouse with no Ethernet cabling -- but there is a wifi signal provided by a Cisco wireless router -- which is why we got the WAPs -- so PCs could get their jobs sent to the printer via Wifi > WAP > printer NIC.
Problem is the printers only stay visible on for about 15 min or so -- then disappear. Only way to get them visible again is to do a powercycle on the printer (not the WAP121). Then it stays visible for for another 15 minutes or so -- then disappears. If a Workstation sends a continues (-t) ping to the printer IP -- the printer will stay online and get print jobs.... but if activity is idle for 10-15 minutes... it disappears (power-save is off on the printer).
Firmware on WAP121 is current.
What setting on the WAP could be enable to keep the printers alive? have been trying to operate in bridge mode... What is the "best practice" here for connecting a printer to a WIFI via these WAP121s?
I just upload firmware1.0.1.10 on 2 WAP121. After the update and reboot, I was able to confirm the firmware version in the System Summary menu. The update is uneventful. However, the functions WDS Bridge and WorkGroup Bridge no longer works on two WAP121:
- For WDS Bridge, when I configure a Remote MAC Address with WPA Encryption and then I click on the Save button, nothing happens there. But it works well when I choose without Encryption.
- For WorkGroup Bridge, when I click on the Save button (even without changing the configuration), I have a message "Certificate file uploaded successfully" and another error message in the background: "error occured for query you send path . device.sync ... "
1.0.0.3 firmware is not available on your site, it is imposible for me to go back.
Although it does accept it in the setup wizard, you cannot change it in the vap list later on, it will throw a popup telling you there's an invalid character.
I'm running firmwarte 1.0.0.3
I've just bought a pair of WAP121 for testing and validation. I've set it up properly (user/password, IP, management vlan, NTP, SNMP, 802.1x, etc). So far, so good, everything worked as expected. I've downloaded the configuration to my PC, and also saved it to startup-config. I've powered off the unit, went for a coffee, and powered it back. All my settings were lost.
Tried to restore settings from the file downloaded to my PC, but no luck. After reboot, it was factory clean, no trace from settings in the backup file. I've set it up again by hand, power cycled it, and the **** thing reloaded to default settings.
Faulty unit, I thought, so I opened the other one I have, and repeated the whole thing, but same results. Test were made using the power adapter supplied but also tried with a catalyst 2960 with PoE.
I recently purchase my first Cisco products for a network for our church. I have a RV180W router, WAP 121 Access Point and a SR2016T switch for our network, which is just pier-to-pier at this point. We have 5 computers connected with ether net through the switch and all see the Internet and work fine. The wireless connection through the router is working fine with our wireless devices (laptops and i Pads). Where I am having issues is with the AP. It is in different area away from the router being powered through POE instead of the regular power connection.
My problem is this: it takes FOREVER to connect to the AP and to the Internet, even when sitting directly under the AP with full signal. Once connected, it appears to allow Internet connection just fine, but getting to that point takes 15-20 minutes sometimes. Also, when I come back the next day, I have NO signal at all, as it seems the AP has "timed out" due to inactivity or something. I have to reboot the AP and the router to get it all back up and running again. I need for the signal to stay up all the time or at least come on when someone connects.
So, what am I doing wrong here? I have recognized and authorized the AP through the router config, security is set up fine and I can see it once it comes up. I have the AP set up as a completely different SSID, although I would prefer to have the AP as merely an extension of the router's wireless network if possible.
i have a simple router on a stick config which is providing dhcp to a customer SSID. however i don't want employees to stay on it and eat the band width since its open. the lease is set to an hour, is there anyway that i could set it so that once your lease expired it can't be renewed for 4 about 8 hours? I am using a cisco 2600 router in this setup.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to assign a single ssid to multiple interface groups by assigning the ssid to multiple AP groups?
I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building. Each building is also further grouped as AP groups. I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building? I'm thinking it will work.
Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?

7.2.110.0 code
6 buildings
6 interface groups
1 ssid
We have a new SSID that needs to be added to an AP through a 4400 Controller with software version

All AP's are configured as Lightweight.
We have a pretty good sized church and gym and we're thinking about getting three 1041n to cover the whole area. If we setup all three exactly the same, with the same ssid and password, but just put them on different channels, will our devices automatically hop from ap to ap as we walk around? Is there anything special we should do to make them work better together?
