View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat i'm trying to do is share my USB 3G modem to my Xbox.Tried setting up an ad hoc network using stock Vista settings and also tried using a program called Connectify. Using stock vista settings the ad hoc simply will not work. Using Connectify the ad hoc network works but only for a couple of hours, then the USB modem tries to connect to my ad hoc network which then disables the Internet connection on the USB modem. Its a baffling problem but most likely something to do with the USB modem which just gets stuck trying to connect to a wep secured ad hoc network, the usb modem cannot be connected to mobile and wifi so it simply shuts the connection down .So ad hoc simply does not work.
So instead i'm trying to share my internet connection through my Netgear router. I read around the net that in order to do this DHCP needs to be disabled on the router. So i disabled it. Now the xbox will not connect to the netgear router, it cannot get an ip address because DHCP is turned off. I looked around the net and all the information is conflicting. No matter what i cannot get an ip number from the router to the xbox. DHCP needs to be off for ICS to function, but i get no further than "cannot get ip address". The xbox is connected to the netgear, it sees the netgear fine, but will not get an ip.How can i get my xbox to get an ip from the router with DHCP turned off ?.
My wife bought her self an xbox last night so we can game togher. We both tried to get online last night, but came up with a strict nat for one of the machines. Which ever machine got online first got the open nat type. i've tried DMZ host with port forwarding for both machines to no success. We have a netgear modem router from charter cable. the model number I believe is CG3000D. she was on a wireless network and i was wired straight to the modem router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend has had constant issues with his wireless network using his dated Linksys router. So he finally decided to upgrade to the Netgear N750. It's a dual band router that simultaneously broadcasts 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. He setup the 2.4 band for the laptops and mobile devices to access, and the 5 band just for gaming on his xbox 360 Slim. He immediately ran into a problem. The 360 slim's built-in wireless card only picks up 2.4 GHz frequencies. To remedy this, he purchased Microsoft's xbox 360 wireless-N adapter as it can pick up 5 GHz frequencies. However, there was no change after plugging the adapter into the 360 slim. His HP laptop can see the 5 GHz network just fine, so we know it's being broadcast. Could it be the xbox is out of range of the 5 GHz band? Is the adapter not functioning properly with the 360 slim?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Netgear Pro-safe VPN firewall. I have 3 or 4 Xbox consoles on my network. After a few days i got multiple complaints that the users kept getting disconnected from Xbox live after i installed this firewall. I have noticed that it only does it to the xbox, computers and laptops are working great. I also noticed that, 5 or 10 sec. before the router goes out. The firewalls indicator lights all light-up at the same time. Then it resets and the connection restores itself. It happens mostly when using Netflix through the xbox. I have tried port forwarding but it seemed like it made it worst.

View 10 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
I just bought a new television so thought I would finally be able to get to play xbox live in a television away from the router! But of course like always there is is problems....
I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.
However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!
I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.
My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.
My xbox cannot connect to the internet. I'm hardwiring it. It can achieve an IP Adress and a Subnet Mask but... it's Gateway, Primary DNS, and Secondary DNS remains at 0.0.0.0
How can I fix this so that I can connect to Xbox Live?
What should I do cause my xbox360 the black one will Nt connect to the internet

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn our country we only used broadbands to connect to the internet, for short we don't have any wireless networking here. I just bought a new Xbox360 and I tried to connect the broadband on it. After connecting I tried to join Xbox Live and it said error. The console redirected me to a part which says test your connection, so I selected it. After selecting it I noticed that there are 4 parts. First the Xbox, second network, third internet, and lastly Xbox Live. I selected Test Connection and after doing so, it started to load. The first thing the console did is to test if the network is connected and after a few seconds the loading is done and it transfers to the other part which is the console will try to connect to the internet, in this part a huge x symbol appeared on the internet sign and it says that it is unable to connect to the internet and so I tried it again and same thing happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWasted several hours after changing to a D-link DIR 825 router attempting to connect to my XBOX 360 (S) without success.Tried to use the 5 GHz broadcasting with following settings (the 5 GHz SSID didn't show up in the XBOX wireless list but I'm one of those ignorant trial & error:
- locked on 802.11n and WPA2,
- disabled Multicast Streams in "Advanced/Advanced Network",
- disabled WI-FI protected setup in "Advanced/WI-FI Protected Setup" (maybe unnecessary)
- disabled SPI and TCP & UDP Endpoint Independent i "Advanced/Firewall Settings/Firewall Settings"
In the end it was resolved by the info in solution 5 on the xbox page: The XBOX:es with built in wireless can only use the 2.4 GHz connection, and to be able using 5 GHz broadcast I apparently have to get the "black adapter".
I have a HTPC that I use to feed two XBOX extenders (all are hardwired, through a switch). I was using the onboard Realtek NIC, but having some stuttering issues for live and recorded TV feeds. I installed a new Intel NIC, but cannot get the Xboxs to connect back using that connection. Everything else is working (Internet, NAS drives, etc) with that card, only the Xbox extenders. I did delete the original connection and tried adding back as new, but have since had to revert back to the original NIC.
