View 1 RepliesBeen using an Epson Artisan 800 for years over a long USB cable. Love the thing to pieces, until it broke printing on it's 800th CD or so. Replaced with an Epson Artisan 835 and wanted to it set it up WiFi this time (new office layout doesn't lend well to a USB cable). But I can't see the damn thing on the network! And I don't think it's the printer's fault either, since it's the second one I've tried.Printer says it's connected to the router. Shows full signal strength on front panel. All network connection tests available on the printer's touch screen pass quickly:SSID checkCommunication Mode checkSecurity Mode checkMAC Address Filtering checkSecurity Key/Password checkIP Address checkDetailed IP Setup checkBut my Win 7 box can't see the printer!Running the Epson connection wizard on my Win 7 box failed, so I assigned both static IPs in the router's DHCP panel (192.168.1.101 and .105). The printer's network test page shows the IP stuck. Power cycled both printer and router twice each. No dice. IPconfig shows that the PC's IP stuck too.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to go about this but basically i have a cable modem connected to a router which then connects to my 3 pc's. (file/printer network sharing and stuff setup via the built in windows wizard). and i have a printer plugged into one of the pc's. (all using windows xp)they can all use the printer just fine.i got this NEW pc(windows 7), which is not physically connected to this router. instead, i set up a wireless connection to it. (a wired connection is not possible)internet access also works fine.BUT, i just realized that i think file/printer sharing it cannot do. i think it's because even though it can use the same internet it's on it's own wireless network and not the wired one. so i guess they can't communicate with each other? so i'm wondering. how can i get the wifi pc to talk to the non-wireless printer

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to connect my downstairs PC (No wireless Card) to my upstairs Wi-Fi printer through my Wi-Fi router and have not been able to do it, even after reading and resetting my printer's network card as directed by Brother's tech support 4 times.Actually, that's not true once I WAS able to access the printer's online Interface and change a few settings, but when it came time to submit my settings, everything just froze and I wasn't able to access the interface afterwards. (see my setup below) Here's the result of the first attempts (Node Type and IP Address are NOT good)IP range NOT good 169.254.x.x .Second and temporarily successful attempt (Node Type and IP Address are good) IP Range IS good 192.168.x.x.I know it would be easier to simply buy a Wi-Fi network card for my PC but I would rather learn how to do this manually.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have an HP DeskJet 3050 wireless printer connected by WiFi to two laptops. One laptop, a Dell 700m, runs XP Pro with all updates applied. The other laptop, a Dell XPS 15, runs Windows 7 64-bit, again with all updates applied. The printer works completely reliably from the XP machine. From the XPS 15, the printer works reliably for a day or so, then the icon in Devices & Printers is grayed, indicating the printer is offline. Even in this condition, I can access the printer's built-in web server using Firefox on the XPS 15 and the connection appears to be fine. The printer's IP address has not changed. But the printer is still reported as offline for printing by Windows.
The workaround is to delete the device and reinstall it using Add Printer and Have Disk, but using the already installed drivers rather than re-installing. After doing that, the printer then works for a few days before again going offline. This problem is extremely irritating. I've done Google searches on this problem. Although I've found a variety of similar reports for various brands of wireless printers on Vista or Windows 7, I've not seen a solution. My latest attempt is to share the printer on the Dell 700m and print to the shared printer from the XPS 15. We'll see if that continues to work for a few days (I suspect it will). But this isn't really a solution and not always convenient.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my Linksys router from an older one to the E-2500 about a week ago. Everything is working great on my wired desktop and 3 wireless laptops except the printer will no longer work from any of the computers. I've checked the printer wireless settings and they are correct (ssid and password) and it says it's connected to the wlan. Each of the computers shows the printer is active and set to default BUT the port light on the back of the new router is not on. I have changed cables and still no light, the printer is set up for sharing and it did work a couple days ago but port light was on then.
I have not added anything that wasn't hooked up on my old router, I"m just trying to get what I had on the old router to work on the new one. Everytime I call support, they have me change something that messes up what a previous agent had me do. Now they want me to pay for a direct connection so they can upgrade my router firmware...they didn't even ask what version I already had which happen to be the same version that is available on [URL] so if I had agreed, I would have paid for nothing. I had already paid $29.99 for additional 14 day support on my old router only to find out I needed a new one.
I've been using Linksys routers for quite awhile but I'm just about ready to change brands. I would really like to give this E-2500 a chance.
I use a Netgear FS605 Ethernet Switch to connect a wifi modem to my network and thus to the internet. People in that room can jump online via the wifi modem. You can also print to the wireless printer in that room via that wifi modem being local. However, I can no longer print to the wifi printer from anywhere else in my network (I could before I got a new router and wifi modem in there).Would this be a problem with this Switch or with the modem e.g.

I am experiencing an issue since I bought my new laptop.I connect to the Internet with Windows 8 and TL-WR1043ND.My issue is that ever since I installed the printer utility from the site I hear an ON/OFF sound in my speaker randomly and I can not figure out what`s wrong.I think it`s trying to search for my printer but it it off. Also wi-fi disconnects randomly ever since this application was installed. What can I do to fix this issue.Computer works fine without the application. There is no report about this issue in the Event Viewer.
Win7, wrt54gs,
It works sometimes. I imagine it has a noise problem since sharing files works, internet works. I cannot remember how to change channels on this router to save my life, though. What is special about sharing a printer?
I have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I used WPS on my DIR-655 Rev B1 FW 2.03NA to register a Brother HL-2270DW Wifi laser printer and my Mac can never wake it up to print. It always works fine from all my Windows machines. It appears as xxx.xxx.xxx.6 on my network. But the router only shows its IP as 0.0.0.0 on the STATUSWireless page and I can't find any way to change that. My assumption is that the Mac can't find it because of this, but I'm not an expert on WPS.Maybe I should take it out of WPS and just assign it a fixed IP using DHCP Reservation. Or is there another fix? I haven't ruled out the Brother OS X printer driver, but it and the printer's firmware are both up to date. Two odd things:
1. I can ping the printer from my PCs but the Mac can't find see in and it's not a Firewall issue.
2. I can see the brother printer in Finder's Shared devices: so it sees it but refuses to interact.
I receive wifi from an unsecured Linksys tower near by what can I buy to strengthen that signal will a wifi signal repeater work
