I have an HP 4510s with networking problems. So far I have tried 2 different internal wireless cards and 3 different USB devices but none seem to want to connect. My OS is Windows 7 x64 and I have to admit that I haven't tried any other operating systems yet. To sum it up; Windows sees network SSID's, makes an attempt to connect, waits a long time, then fails with the message: Windows was unable to connect to [*SSID*] and this happens with every router I try. This is kind of bugging me because it defeats the whole purpose of having a laptop as the only way of connecting it to the internet is via LAN.
If I try to connect to my internet wirelessly and my laptop has more than 2 meters distance approximately from my router then for some reason it doesn't connect. The laptop can spot my network at that distance and i can connect without problems from any other device such as my mobile phone or my mother's laptop, so I'm pretty sure that I'm not out of reach.Occasionaly it connects but this appens very rarely (in fact it happened twice so far), disconnects shortly after (after about 5 min) and the internet speed during that time is rediculously slow
I have a laptop that I want to sell, therefore I went to somebody to see my laptop and wanted to connect to his wifi. After repeatedly entering the pass for the wifi ,the wifi was still not connecting.
1. My laptop will see his wifi but after entering the pass will not connect 2. The pass is correct because I introduced the same pass on my mobile and I was able to connect to his wifi through my mobile 3 My laptop wifi is working fine because when I went home it connects automatically on my home wifi 4. I tried to open and close his router but I faced same problem.
i am using dlink DIR-600L wireless router, the problem is i can connect to any device only if my laptop is on, the moment i swtich off my laptop my other devices dont work on wifi
my acer laptop can detect my neighbour's wifi but cant detect my wifi which i connected today , my router is trendnet , it works perfectly in PC and my Phone can also connect to its wifi , but my laptop wont even detect the wireless network
Basically, I turn my laptop on it all loads but when it gets to finding netwoks in the quick link bar the network icon is crossed out, when I hover over it it says "Not connected - No connections are avalible".
It' has done this before and I simply used a Netgear wireless USB adapter to connect to the internet. The problem fixed itself in a few weeks. It's started over again and I was told by a friend to format my harddrive which I did. It's still happening.
When I go to troubleshoot my connections it says Ethernet cable is unplugged. I have another laptop (exactly same as mine), and two desktop computers which all run Windows 7 and can find the network.
We have recently switched routers and now my laptop doesn't work wirelessly; it connects to the router but there isn't an internet connection. The laptop works fine when the LAN cable is plugged in though. Our other laptop can connect to the internet with or without the LAN cable. Both are Toshibas running on Windows Vista.I have tried various approaches such as downloading the latest Atheros AR5007EG drivers but it said that they're already the most up to date. [code]
I'm going to piggyback this thread since it pretty much describes my situation (Dell laptop Windows XP Professional). I had a pc, a laptop, and a wireless printer all working properly together. Printer stopped working for some reason. The solution at which I arrived was to remove the existing printer profile and add it fresh. That worked for the pc but not for the laptop. The laptop doesn't see it.
My mothers laptop gets signal downstairs but upstairs it doesn't and my laptop gets signal anywhere in the house and its always excellent signal. Is there anything i can do to her laptop so that it gets more signal?
I want to use my JBL Flip with my laptop, but my laptop doesn't have bluetooth. If I buy a bluetooth adapter and plug it in my laptop, will my laptop be able to connect with my JBL Flip speaker (which is a wireless bluetooth traveling speaker)? **Will my JBL Flip play music from my laptop if the bluetooth adapter is connected to my laptop?
I just recently bought a Telewell Wlan AP wireless access point and my problem is that I can't connect to the internet with Lan, hence can't get connection on my desktop. My laptop however works fine with wlan.
There's a wall socket which connects to a bigger student local network, I can connect my desktop to it directly and it works so there seems to be nothing wrong with my computer. I've had 2 routers before this, another Telewell that worked flawlessly and a Buffalo that cut the connection every now and then but didn't have this kind of problem.
I have the router plugged into the wall, set to get a dynamic ip (as it should be) and it does find Wan-side ip-address and dns-servers, as I could connect through wifi. So there doesn't seem to be a problem with that either. But for some reason Lan doesn't work. I can access the router through Lan, dhcp is on and I can see my desktop on the routers client list.
I'm trying to connect my computer to our router with no success. Windows doesn't detect the wire when I plug it in, no matter which one I use. This has never been a problem before I recently installed Windows 7 HP.I had no wireless connection to the router either after I installed the new Windows, but following an answer to a remotely similar question in the forum fixed it ('scan for hardware changes' on "Realtek Wireless LAN" under Network Adapters in Device Manager)
my laptop isn't showing my wireless internet connection in the list. But my phone is connecting to my wireless internet connection without any problem.I am using a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows Vista.
Just bought a new laptop for my mother - a Packard Bell Easynote TS with Windows 7. Attempted to connect it to our home's existing router, but have run into problems. We have two other computers in the house, both linked via ethernet to the router (a Netgear DG834Gv5) although one sometimes goes wireless with no problem whatsoever. I have been on various forums to find ways of solving this issue; I have turned off the router and laptop and rebooted both; I have checked at the router IP address to see if the SSID name is broadcasting, it is; I have added the correct MAC address to the access list as we are on WPA2-PSK (wifi protected access 2 with pre-shared key); I have tried disabling this security option in the hope it allows a connection but no; I have even tried copying the existing network configuration from the laptop than can connect wirelessly and via USB stick pasted across to the new laptop, this also failed to work. I have also been into the Device Manager to check the network adapter (ATHEROS AR5B97) is working properly and it has the latest drivers installed - it has. There is no yellow warning symbol on it. When I run a diagnostic check it results in: "Investigate router or access point issues."
Booting up the laptop reveals that there are wireless network connections available - the home one. It has a good-to-excellent signal strength, radio type = 802.11g, the SSID is showing. But when I click on 'connect', it brings up: "WINDOWS WAS UNABLE TO CONNECT TO [our SSID]"When I connect this new laptop using the ethernet cable that I sometimes run my existing laptop with, it connects to the internet with no problem at all, so it is definitely just a wireless issue. The only thing that I am aware I haven't tried is to uninstall the pre-installed 60-day trial of Norton which some suggest may block the signal (is that right?) but I have temporarily disabled it and that did nothing.
Everyone else sharing the same wifi connection as me has been having normal connection as always. My laptop does not connect to a single site because it always times out. If it does connect to a site, it takes like 10 mins. I got an alienware laptop.
I recently moved into the dorms of my college and tried connecting my laptop to the internet using an ethernet cable. It worked, so I decided to try and play Xbox Live through the use of the ethernet cable and it did not work. After messing around with it and failing to get it to work for my Xbox 360, the ethernet decided to quit working for my computer as well. (To try and get my Xbox to connect to the internet with the ethernet cord, I tried network bridging by bridging the ethernet connection with the wireless connection, then unplugging the ethernet cable from the wall so as to connect it from my laptop to Xbox 360. This didn't work so I just deleted the bridge. This is when the problem started happening as the local connection stopped appearing.) I am able to plug it in and see that in the Network and Sharing Center, however, it shows up as being unplugged. After a couple seconds though, it disappears. If I click on it fast enough, it shows up with an Error Code 45 after looking at the properties. I have tried typing in ipconnfig /all and the ethernet connection doesn't show up there either.
i have a packard bell network.i formatted the whole laptop.and now my laptop doesnot show any wireless network, however connects to dial up connection.i am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit os
I can sign on with all tools (i.e. phone, PC, etc.), but for whatever reason, I am having issues connecting my laptop. I'm running Windows 7 on a newer laptop. I tried changing the password and it worked for a minute, but now that's not doing the trick. It keeps telling me it doesn't have a valid IP address.
So, I happened to do CD recovery a day ago; *Due to forgetting Administrator password* and now my laptop seems to not be able to pick up any wireless connections when there usually is a ton. Also every time my laptop restarts it always loads saying "Preparing for first time use" Like I used the CD recovery again. which I didn't. I thought that maybe it has to do with the Drivers and such, though im not very tech fancy, so I wouldn't exactly know where to find the correct driver to install, and which to install.[code] Oh and lastly, I happened to notice on Driver manager, that on "other devices" there is a yellow exclamation point, on both of them: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 and Network Controller.
Internet doesn't work on my laptop. after getting some worms that prevented me to open any programs, i did a recover from previous back up. but since then my internet doesn't work (with or without cable). wirelessly: my laptop says im connected to the router, but it says that i have no connection to internet. sometimes it says that i m connected to internet but even so when i try to open my browsers (ieplorer or firefox), it just says "unable to connect"With wire: when i trie to connect via a cable directly to the modem, it does the same thing, it says iam connected to the modem but i have limited access, and the browsers say that it can't open internet.i am using windows 7, have a dell computer and a belkin N1 wireless router, and using cable.i tried to restore the winsock using the netsh command, i used winsockxpfix, i used lspfix, i deleted my norton virus program, i reset my router to default, i deleted my cache-cookie-history from the browser, i think my driver are up to date, i check my manager device (they all work), nothing worked.
my computer works fine and i can go online. i use wire for my computer and try the same wire to my laptop but not working. i tries another cable throught the router but still nothing.
My desktop doesn't connect to the router and when i troubleshoot, it tells me that the ethernet cable is not plugges into the computer. But the ethernet cable is already plugged in. My two laptops have no problems connecting to the internet.
I'm having trouble getting my laptop to connect to the Internet over wi-Fi. If I plug it directly into the router with a cable it works fine. I have 10 other things in my house that connect over wi-Fi just fine, my pc just won't connect.
iPad connects fine to WiFi leave it idle for 20mins and then when you wake it up, it doesnt reconnect. It is not just this 1 pad, i have about 20 users in the office with same problems. So far i have tried the following:
1. Update router firmware 2. Network initially had split up so each floor router was a DHCP server now only 1 DHCP server. 3. Test with different security WPA/WPA2 and No security. 4. Connect to different wireless router. 5. Try Apple's Airport but doesnt work in corporate enviornment(couldnt even get it working at home) 6. Try adjusting screen brightness (not in a million years is this a fix!!). 7. Static Addressing not an option as too many devices and it is not a fix.
I am running XP Pro SP2 Ver. 2002 on my laptop.,i use the wifi connection very well. But when i plug the rj45 cable in from the modem, the LAN icon says Little or no connection.
My gateway net book has always recognized wifi, but since we left home a few weeks ago I have not been able to connect. My computer savvy nephew couldn't even figure it out.
I'm using sapo internet USB pay as you go internet, the only problem I cannot get my windows vista to get connected . the software downloaded perfectly it just cannot connect to network! the computer i'm using now is gonna disappear soon!
I have a "vpn device" (that is what they called it to me) basically its a custom no-name black box with a lan and a wan port that my office gave me. It is running url... vpn connection to my office automatically so no computers have to run a vpn client locally. "It just works".Previously I had a DL 4300 set to bridge mode so I could get wifi. VPN device doesnt have wifi
I replaced the DL-4300 with a 655 because I wanted N speed for wifi and I got a DAP 1522 to wirelessly bridge my dvr and a htpc.I have read through the many threads of the 655 and bridging and it being removed and I'd love to use the 655 as my router to take advantage of all the other routing features, but alasSo here is my setup as of now, they set my vpn to be 10.86.83.1 so that is my network.Cable Modem -> pfSense -> switch ->
-> office computers and printers -> DL 4300 10.86.83.2 (I'll soon disable this and remove it, or maybe setup another remote ap in future) -> DIR 655 10.86.83.3 (using Lan port not wan port)
Laptops/phones connecting to new 655 wireless SSID, however I'm not sure how you tell if its using the DAP1522 or the 655 or is that just seemless and I shouldnt know? Also I couldnt get a dhcp via the 655-> ... -> DAP 1522 from the pfSense router. So I just enabled DHCP on the 655 and now I get ip and internet access.Really have no idea how that is working having 2 DHCP servers, but I guess they are smart about it (for now..or just lucky)
I just switched houses, and when I connected my computer, modem and router I found out that I have internet on my PC which is wired, but when I try to get connected with my Laptop using the wireless funtion, it doesn't work. The laptop finds the router and gets "connected" but when I try to open a web page, it says there's an issue with my internet connection, and also something about not finding the DNS...whatever that means...as you can see..
I'm having an issue connecting to my wireless router. I can connect fine with security disabled, but it doesn't connect if I enable WPA. It says there's a "timeout" issue when I try to connect with WPA enabled. No one else is having issues connecting with their laptops and smartphones, so it must be a problem with my computer. [code]
my laptop internet doesnt work, devices dont exist(ethernet controller.network controller and pci simple communication controller) my pc is dell inspiron and windows 7
I've been trying to install our rwireless Hp printer on my laptop. I've had it installed and working, but then it goes offline and won't print. I've uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Now it has the error symbol on it (yellow circle withan exclamation mark)
