Wireless Signal Is Detected But Computer Doesn't Connect

Apr 6, 2011

I have a an HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook running Windows Vista.I have a wireless router at home and connect to the wireless signal using both this computer and my other computer that I use for work. Yesterday, out of the blue, my laptop stopped connecting to my home wireless signal. It detects the signal, but when I click on it to connect (something I shouldn't have to do, as it is configured to connect automatically), I get a message saying that it couldn't connect and suggests that the signal strength is low.I know that the signal strength is fine as I am connected just fine on my work computer.I can plug my laptop into the router using a cable and it connects just fine that way, so the only problem is with the wireless signal. I have restarted the computer, modem, and router, to no avail.

Wireless Connection Not Working Upstairs?

Oct 10, 2011

I'm having an issue with the connectivity of my wireless internet. Downstairs, everything is peachy. Upstairs, which is no more than 100 feet from the router, the connectivity is non-existent. That is - the laptop still registers full signal strength, and identifies my computer as connected - but the browser constantly loads, google talk is always trying sign in, and my dropbox continues to try and find a connection. The page never actually loads, but it also never tells me there is no connection. It's like the date has slowed so much that it is not actually being sent.

Asus A53SV Loses Connectivity Upstairs After Sleep?

Oct 25, 2012

Major symptom: Maddeningly intermittent wireless issues with Asus laptop after repair. Unable to connect to network after sleep or reboot on upper floors of house.

History:

1) Laptop wireless was working fine but power jack and case were damaged.

2) Sent away to Asus for free repair (pulled the HD first).

3) Got it back and seemed fine, but...

Problem:Wireless starting dropping after sleep. It's my wife's laptop and she usually uses it on the 2nd floor of the house.Routers are on the first floor. It failed the same way on both my G and N routers. Played with all sorts of settings, disabled IPv6, reinstalled drivers, checked for BIOS update. No luck . Eventually saw some event log entries that might have been associated with a bad wifi card. Ordered a new Intel 100 N (OEM model) and replaced card, same issues. Swapped card with a Broadcom 1510 from an old Dell I had. Same problem.

Tried more settings, static IP, flushing DNS, etc. Same problem. At this point the event log has nothing notable in it, no error logs anywhere the wireless card will just report no connectivity.when I work on this laptop I take it down into my office, which is on the 1st floor by my router. The laptop works flawlessly there (10 feet from the router). So my theory at this point is that Asus damaged or otherwise messed up the laptop antenna while repairing the laptop. most of the time on the 2nd floor the windows wifi icon reports a perfectly good signal, and if I boot the laptop on the first floor and walk upstairs, the laptop works fine(as long as I don't reboot or let it go to sleep).

So upstairs i am alos working with a wireless...kind of tv server that has a very poor signal from my wag320n. I want to boost that up a bit by using a wap54g on the attic. HP G62 Laptop Losing Internet Signal

Jun 27, 2011

I have a HP G62 laptop and it randomly disconnects from the internet even though it still has full wireless signal. However if I turn the laptop 180 degrees or lift it above my head it will reconnect .The laptop will also only work in certain rooms of the house and not others even though it receives a similar strength signal in all of these rooms. For example it will work in my bedroom which is upstairs and on the opposite side of the house to the router but will not work in the living room (unless i hold it above my head) which is right next to the router.

A second HP laptop in the house has no problems and will remain connected no matter what room it is in and how is held. The two can be right next to each other both with full signal and one will be connected to the internet and the other wont.I have tried updating the drivers on the laptop but this has made no difference. The router is an echolife HG520b. The hp laptop which has the problem has a Broadcom 4313 network adaptor where as the laptop which works fine has a Realtek network adaptor.

Full Signal But No Internet On Laptop

Jan 17, 2011

when I log onto the PC, I have to reset the local network adapter in order to go online - it solves the problem every time. The real issue is with the laptop. It keeps dropping connection and, even when it shows up with a full signal, it can't connect to the internet and, when it does, it's really, really slow. I've tried resetting the IP address, I've gone in to make sure the network isn't hidden, I've checked the WEP key, I've even had it right next to the pc (which works only marginally, occasionally). We can't afford to buy another new laptop and I can't work out what the problem is.

Inspiron 8200 - Why Does Laptop Keep Dropping Signal

Oct 27, 2011

I have an older Inspiron 8200 with XP I'm trying to fix up. I added an internal 802.11g card and it connects to my wireless network just fine. For some reason the connection only stays open for about 10 minutes or less and then it disconnects. If I try to reconnect to my network it works, and then the same thing happens again.

It doesn't do this when I plug it into a wired LAN. It does do the same thing when I try to use a wireless USB or PC card adapter.

why it keeps dropping the connection? And why it won't automatically re-connect? The laptop is very near to my router so I know I'm getting a good signal. Other laptops work fine with the router.

And I hopped on Call of Duty last night and played a competition with some friends and gave everyone 4bar connection. Later that night, I was playing some more and people that connected to me received 1bar connection and I got that in return on their connection.
