Router Gets Internet But Doesn't Send Wireless Signal To Laptops
Feb 20, 2012
My Linksys router is connected to my desktop and modem and gets internet access but for some reason has stopped sending the wireless signal to other laptops in the house.
my netgear n150 router can not send wireless signal to devices.what is wpa or wps. how can i find my wireless user name and password. does paying 80.00 dollars to netgear solve problem.
I just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.
If I have two Linksys wireless routers in my house, ( 1 Wireless-G as the Gateway attached to the DSL line, and attached to the main computer, and 1 Wireless-b model BEFW11S4v4 that I want to use as a bridge or as a repeater to send the wireless signal around the attic (2 floors away) and I have connected them via Ethernet, and then connected to the attic computer (not the main one) via Ethernet to Wireless-B, why can I not get connectivity on the attic computer?
If I forgo the Wireless-B router, and connect the ethernet to the attic computer everything is fine, but there is no wireless signal in the attic. (only downstairs where the Wireless-G is.) I believe I can access the Wireless-G and tell it to be a bridge or a repeter (?? I think) but as far as I can tell the Wireless-B is giving itself the same IP address as the Gateway Wireless-G is using, and I don't have an connectivity, so I can't change it! Im confused.
U just bought a new E4200 router to enjoy 5ghz band for the first time.I noticed the range at my house of the 5gh is smaller than 2.4 is that right?one of my pc is having trouble keep connected to the 5ghz signal or the router doenst respond to it, is there a way to improve that signal?
I have 2 laptops that won't connect to the internet through my wireless router. They will connect through the ethernet cable though. When I click on connect, it says "waiting for network" but then closes itself and says it cannot connect. I also have one laptop that will not connect for several minutes after it "wakes up" from sleep mode or is restarted. It shows (No internet access).
I have two laptops which connect to the router via wireless. This router is wired to the modem. I can connect each laptop to the router then make an internet connection. This works fine. But if one laptop is connected to the internet, then the other cannot. I have to disconnect the first laptop then reconnect with the second.
I have had this scenario working in the past and can't remember what I have to do to enable both laptops to use the internet connection at the same time.
We recently acquired an internet connection. Connecting via LAN works fine for me but not to my room mates. We're all using Windows 7. Windows troubleshoot it and says "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" on their laptops. What should we do?
I have a new Linksys E2000, I was unable to connect one of my laptops to the internet, so I decided to call support with the problem, after 45min and not results, find out that the E2000 do not support the Atheros AR 5007, they told me that I need to get a new driver for my adapter. Fine but Cisco doesn’t have a Driver update for this problem or how to fix it, or at least send you a link where to get the fix.Â
I have a Linksys wireless router model WRT54G (not sure the exact model, it's not in front of me right now). It has worked flawlessly for the past several years, but for some reason has recently stopped working. I confirmed it's not a problem with the DSL Modem, as I can hard wire connect to my laptop and the internet works fine. It's clear something is wrong with the wireless router. I've tried unplugging, hitting the reset button on the back, and nothing has worked. My computer is able to recognize/locate the router and connect, it's just that I can't connect to the internet. One thing I've noticed under the wireless connection is that the computer is able to "send" packets, but not "receive." My experience is that this is always the case when I experience connection problems, but I have no idea what that means. I was going to call the Help Line, but I see it costs $30 which is likely more than my router is worth and probably 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a new one so I am trying to troubleshoot myself.
I have a an HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook running Windows Vista.I have a wireless router at home and connect to the wireless signal using both this computer and my other computer that I use for work. Yesterday, out of the blue, my laptop stopped connecting to my home wireless signal. It detects the signal, but when I click on it to connect (something I shouldn't have to do, as it is configured to connect automatically), I get a message saying that it couldn't connect and suggests that the signal strength is low.I know that the signal strength is fine as I am connected just fine on my work computer.I can plug my laptop into the router using a cable and it connects just fine that way, so the only problem is with the wireless signal. I have restarted the computer, modem, and router, to no avail.
I have in my work RV016Â 10/100 16-Port VPN Router, working Ok and connected with 3 ADSL internet lines.
1- The problem is that when any line disconnect from internet it supposed to log this disconnection in internet in system log but it does not
2- I can't understand the option of sending mail with the logs, does it send when i press the button EMAIL LOG NOW, or it supposed to send when any log is added? and how to configure it.
We have a large house, with wired connections in every room.  After the ISP just installed a new  EA4500, the wireless signal does not reach the whole house. Is it possible to plugin the old X3000 into the wired connection upstairs and have it boost a wireless signal to that area?I know how to reset the unit and access the setup page.
I'm having problems with my current network setup.I have four machines that need to be networked together (with the plan to add more in the future). One of these machines, the 'host', I want acting as the 'server' which holds all the shares etc.I have a security router which the 3 machines, and a printer are plugged into (via the lan ports). The host machine is also directly plugged in to this. That router hands out IP addresses to these machines using DHCP. The problem is that, I want the internet connection to be shared to these machines through the router, via an active wireless connection on the host computer.
Motion detection is setup - and I can see in the log and on the Live Video "Motion Trigger Indicator" that this part is working. I can also send test-emails, so the smtp is set up correct. In the Event Setup I have a valid server and a motion triggered event with the status ON. But no emails are sent . In the log there is also no indication of the server trying. Am I missing something - or is this not working for anybody?
And - there is no firmware beyond 1.0 for this model as far as I can see.
P.S. I am using a Gmail account for smtp, port 587 and using startTLS to send with,
I have a belkin wireless router/modem running our home network. We connect using 3 android devices, a wii and wireless printer with no problems. However, when connecting using either a windows 7 or windows XP laptop the internet connection is lost after a couple of minutes. I can't work out the cause of the problem but resetting the router gives a couple of minutes of browsing before it goes again. I have tried using static IP addresses for the laptops but this hasn't worked, furthermore I have tried a winsch reset.
Currently it seems as our 3550's doesn't send traps when bpdu-guard sets a port in err-disable state. Or DFM doesnt recognize it.Is there a way to get a DFM alert when a 3550-port gets into err-disable state?
Desktop won't connect to internet. I have a Belkin router and my laptops connect to the internet. My Netflix Rokus connects to the internet.I have tried your suggestion with reset winsock and reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, etc. [code]
Recently my modem/router broke and we had it replaced by our provider. Since it has been replaced we have been having problems with our connection. We have 1 desktop and 2 laptops the desktop is connected to the modem. When we have both laptops running we can browse online okay but if one of the laptops starts downloading something or even loading a video or big web page the other laptops connection will not work it. It says its still connected and finds no problems but no pages will load. I also have problems when I download anything. If I begin downloading then on the same laptop I can not even browse the web while I'm Downloading.
At home I have a wireless access point that I use to connect my laptop #1 to the Internet. On laptop #1 IP address is set to 193.49.21.65. This IP address also Subnet Mask and other addresses are given by my Internet Service Provider. Everything works just fine but lately I bought another laptop (laptop #2) and now my aim is to connect both laptops to the Internet. Unfortunately, I can't make that happen. Only one of my laptops having IP 193.49.21.65 set can connect to the Internet.

So is there any way to have an Internet connection on both of my laptops without having to buy any new equipment?
I had to reboot my Dir 655 because my 2 wireless laptops wouldn't connect to the internet. Once I reset all of my static IP settings in the dlink admin tool the wireless laptops work fine. The problem now is that I can't connect to the internet on the computer that is hard wired into the router. I recall once before having to adjust the TCP/IP settings in the Network settings, but don't remember exactly what it was the I had to do.
My mothers laptop gets signal downstairs but upstairs it doesn't and my laptop gets signal anywhere in the house and its always excellent signal. Is there anything i can do to her laptop so that it gets more signal?
I've had this router for about 3 weeks. Â It's only 20 feet from the computer, but my computer on 2 or 3 separate days had trouble staying connected. Â The signal dropped to 5 Mbps and had a little yellow symbol that said no internet access and when I looked at the properties it said, "limited or no connectivity." Â I got impatient and purchased a 75 ft Ethernet cable online with plans to possibly return the router as I don't really need wireless anyways and since I spent $100 on this router I expect it to work at 20 ft distance. Â For the last few days it has remained at 54 Mbps or more sometimes all the way up to 108 mbps. Â But now since it got pretty low a few times I don't trust it enough so I might return it anyways.IPv6 connectivity says no network access. Â This might be because when it asked for administrator password to recognize it as a trusted home network I closed it instead of putting in the password.
I have a Motorola Docis Surfboard model Model SB6120 and can connect to the internet with the ethernet cable directly onto the labtop but if I connect it to the E4200 router the range is there but the internet connection is not. Â This happened 2 days ago and can't get the router to work.
I basically plugged it into my Verizon Fios router and downloaded the Cisco Connect application (since I have a macbook air which has no CD drive)  It sets up fine, I change my router name.... BUT at the end it says there is an issue of some sort. The Cisco Connect application reloads saying "repairing connection" but then does not repair it.  Not sure where to go from here. I also logged in to 192.168.1.1 but of course I do not know where to go from here. I also reset the router trying to start from new, but no dice.Â
My router was working till date. Due to some reason, I disconnected the internet cable and connected it. After that it does not connect to internet.Based on the forum I accessed 192.168.1.1, it displays the administration page. I have reset to factory settings and switched off the router for a while and turned it
I'm having a problem with Wake on Lan. Â (I'll bet you never guessed from the title, eh?). Â I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. Â I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. Â What am I missing?
I have a WRT54GS V7 that I have been running for a few years now with no problems until today. My wife used the internet from her laptop through the day but this evening after she moved to the bedroom and booted up the laptop, she found there was no internet connection. I tried what I know in cases like these, unplugging the router or modem for brief periods of time to try and get things going again but to no avail. So I tried using the Easylink Advisor which basically suggested the same process.  At this point, my internet connection is coming in from the cable just fine. I have access on the desktop which is wired and works with no problems. The modem and router lights are both signaling that everything is fine but no wireless internet coming from the router.  Using the desktop I tried looking for some solutions and tried resetting the router. I ultimately called customer support but being out of warranty they wanted too much although she suggested that I needed to reconfigure the router since I had reset it. I followed the online instructions for reconfiguring but still have gotten nowhere.Â
Im trying to bridge my zyxel eq660r-f1 dsl modem so that i can resolve the nat issue im having in my home network. Only problem is that everytime I bridge the modem and hook my E4200 up, I cannot connect to the internet. If i connect my laptop directly to the modem, I do get internet but not through the router itself.Â
We have a old Router and a new one(the Lynksys). The old one had problems with the Wifi so we bought this one. So when we connect This Router to the Modem it doesn't show connection to the internet. (The Setup fails because of this). But with the old one it does connect to the internet. So either my modem doesn't detect the new router or vice versa. So I am not sure why its not working since on the old one it works fine.
Why is it that my netbook doesn't have internet access on my Private Network? But when I connect it to my Guest Network, it does have an internet access. It's the only device I have that doesn't have internet access on my Private Network. The rest are working. I tried all the possible options to connect a device but still the problem exist.
