Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.3 Multiple AD Domains

Aug 9, 2012

I do have a quick question about Cisco ACS 5.3 and multi domain authentication. How is it exactly handled?

Can I join more than one domain with the ACS server? Or do I still need to configure that bidirectional trust relationship between those AD forests (even with the ACS 5.3)?

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: Can ACS 5.2 Support Multiple Active Directory Domains For 802.1x

May 25, 2011

I'm looking to implement ACS 5.2 using 802.1X, we have two seperate AD domains.A single switch will need to support both ADs, so if a machine in AD1 is connected, it will be authenticated to the ACS using AD1 and applied to VLAN1, while a machine that is in AD2 will be authenticated to AD2 and applied to VLAN 2.

I'm looking at machine authentication, not user authentication, so I assume that I will need to import two certs from each AD.

I have a customer with three rooms where teh access layer aggregation switches are run back to.

Access Switch Stack A -> room 1 + room 2

Is it possible to have three Nexus 7000s ie one in each room (1,2 and 3) and have them setup like this:

Nexus 7000#1     vPC domain 1
Nexus 7000#2     vPC domain 1 + vPC domain 2

Cisco :: ACS 5.2 Windows 2003 AD Cannot Join

Aug 23, 2012

I am trying to lab up an ACS5.2 with windows 2003 AD for PEAP authentication. But my ACS does not join the AD and throws an error "can not resolve network address". But when i do an nslookup on ACS CLI , the same domain wireless.abc.com is returning with the IP address of my AD. I think i am missing something in windows AD/DNS configs here as i am not a windows AD expert.

1) My AD domain is wireless.abc.com. In my DNS, i have a zone called wireless.abc.com. and i have added "New Host" in that DNS zone with the "name" as blank and providing IP address of my AD (AD and DNS are on same windows installation) . Is this the right way to do ?

2) I should be entering "wireless.abc.com" in the ACS active directory domain name field and do test connection. right ?

Multiple LAN Cards On Windows XP?

Mar 1, 2012

I have 4 computers with 3 LAN cards (1 onboard + 2 PCI) installed on each of the machines. One of the machines run Windows Server 2008 and other 3 run Windows XP. I am trying to simulate routing on these desktops. I have connected all the machines in a mesh topology. Please refer to the image attached. I am able to ping all the 3 machines from the server machine. However when I try to ping the machines from the client PC running XP, it is able to ping only one machine connected to it. All the network cards on the client machine running XP show that they are connected (in control Panel-> network connections). But ping packet shows only one host is reachable. The other two network cards(that are not able to ping other machines) are showing red light. I am not able to get over this.

Multiple NIC Segregation In Windows?

Jul 11, 2012

I'm in a shop that requires our workstations to have two NICs. One attaches to a router and through to a DCHP internet connection. The other is a static IP via crossover to our instrumentation system. The issue is that these systems can be extremely remote and rely on satellite or 3G Network connections and are not overly reliable. Every time our net connection drops, BOTH NICs reset, causing us data loss from our instrumentation. Any way to separate the connections so that if one drops, the other is left unmolested?

Can't See Multiple Work-groups In Windows 7

Oct 24, 2011

As we all know, MS has changed the default workgroup names in different versions of windows. Additionally, you can rename your workgroup anything you like. I have XP, Vista, and Win7 computers, a television, BluRay player, a Wii, two printers, and a NAS with two USB drives attached. All of these -except the Win7- are wired to one of two switches. I have wireless: iPad, the Win7 notebook, Nintendo DSs. I have friend, and non-friend machines (computers, tablets, and phones) that come and go that are wired or wireless. The 3 windows computers all have the same workgroup name. All of my other units do not use workgroup names. I have a router, and two unmanaged switches, and have, on occasion, a second router. The main router, which has wired, and dual band wireless (each with two named wireless networks) nets, sees everything, by name and/or MAC address. Win7 is blind, deaf, and dumb.: it shows its own workgroup name, but no other workgroup name(s) , and, consequently, no unit on these other workgroups. It will show some wired units not in a workgroups - the television, and the printers (not the Wii or NAS). It will not show the wired XP computer! No wireless units either in workgroups or not in workgroups appear. Additionally, Win7 only shows units on its wireless network, not on the other three. The wired units it does show are not on any of the wireless networks, though it lists them on its wireless network.I have left the Homegroup, and terminated the Homegroup services. I have allowed discovery, and unlimited sharing of everything on every computer on the router, and yet the Win7 unit does not share or see well at all. Why?

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.2 AD Trust To Other Domains?

Jan 27, 2011

We are trying to set up ACS 5.2 in our multi-forest AD environment.  As part of our evaluation we set up an Active Directory External Identity Store to a domain (a.b.edu).  It connects properly and I can see the directory groups in the that tab when we Select.   This domain (a.b.edu) has a two way trust with another domain in another forest (x.y.b.edu).  However, I do not see the groups in that domain and I cannot seem to manually add those groups using the Add on the free text Group Name.

The documentation is not clear on this point:  Page 8-41 and 8-42 of the "User Guide for the Cisco Secure Access Control System 5.2) says:  "The External User Groups dialog box appears displaying a list of AD groups in the domain, as well as other trusted domains in the same forest." This implies to me that it cannot cross forests even though a trust is set up.  This seems to be what is happening.

Cisco :: Network Design Task - None Of The Domains Will Be Able To Communicate With Each Other?

Mar 6, 2013

I've been tasked with designing a network consisting of 3 separate broadcast domains with each one representing a separate business accross 3 separate floors. None of the companies should be able to communicate with each other.I've been told that the design should only represent the first 3 layers of the OSI model so I'm only looking at Cabling, Switching and Routing.

I don't expect you all to tell me exactly how I should do this, however I just need a starting point. My main issue is with routing. I'm aware that each port on a router represents a broadcast domain so if I use one router, 3 broadcast domains, does that means that none of the domains will be able to communicate with each other? Should I use more than one router or can i get away with one? Also just so you are aware I've been told not to use VLans and each broadcast domain must have its own ip address schema.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 871 IP Routes Based On Domains

Apr 9, 2012

I would like to configure few routings on my Cisco router 871 in order to allow my employees to have access only to specific websites. However, since some websites have dynamic IPs propably the route that I will create will not work.

My question is, can I configure a route or is there any other way to configure this permission based on the hostname/domain? For example, if I want to permit access to this website www.surveymonkey.com (75.98.93.51) instead of configuring:

ip route 75.98.93.51 255.255.255.255 192.168.10.250

is there any way to configure based on the url.. in order to be able to recognise this host correctly??

Nokia-N900 - Multiple Active Network Connections In Windows Xp

Apr 10, 2011

My phone is a Nokia-N900, and I find the most useful way to interact with it from my PC is by ssh. Luckily it is possible to switch out the usb-networking module in the devices kernel to make it appear to windows as a generic RNDIS gadget. Plugging it into a windows PC I can now ssh into it, I can open an sftp session, everything works perfectly...

Except I can't access the web. I can't view other network resources. I look in the network connections section in the control panel and see my two connections, but I don't see any way to set which one to use for what. Seeing as I only use usb0 for ssh and eth0 for everything else, it seems I need a way to set it up so that usb0 only gets port 22 or something similar.

Is there any way to achieve this, or another method by which I could leave my phone connected to my Pc while using it for other network tasks?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 - Forwarding Domains To IP Address

Jul 24, 2012

I've set up my E3000 (and the WRT54g it replaced) to use dynamic DNS (using dyndns.org) to forward a domain to a particular IP address on the network.  Works awesomely.

I now have a situation where I am setting up a local network (no internet access) where I want a few other local users (an iPad and a laptop) to be able to access a couple websites (let's say x.me and y.me) on a machine also connected to the router.

As an aside, It seems (just from casual testing) that if I am on a machine on my local network and I try to access my dynamic domain (that I route through dyndns.org) and it seems to resolve right away without going out to the internet.  Is this correct?  Does it automatically route anything on lan directly?
