As we all know, MS has changed the default workgroup names in different versions of windows. Additionally, you can rename your workgroup anything you like. I have XP, Vista, and Win7 computers, a television, BluRay player, a Wii, two printers, and a NAS with two USB drives attached. All of these -except the Win7- are wired to one of two switches. I have wireless: iPad, the Win7 notebook, Nintendo DSs. I have friend, and non-friend machines (computers, tablets, and phones) that come and go that are wired or wireless. The 3 windows computers all have the same workgroup name. All of my other units do not use workgroup names. I have a router, and two unmanaged switches, and have, on occasion, a second router. The main router, which has wired, and dual band wireless (each with two named wireless networks) nets, sees everything, by name and/or MAC address. Win7 is blind, deaf, and dumb.: it shows its own workgroup name, but no other workgroup name(s) , and, consequently, no unit on these other workgroups. It will show some wired units not in a workgroups - the television, and the printers (not the Wii or NAS). It will not show the wired XP computer! No wireless units either in workgroups or not in workgroups appear. Additionally, Win7 only shows units on its wireless network, not on the other three. The wired units it does show are not on any of the wireless networks, though it lists them on its wireless network.I have left the Homegroup, and terminated the Homegroup services. I have allowed discovery, and unlimited sharing of everything on every computer on the router, and yet the Win7 unit does not share or see well at all. Why?

I have a RV110W which is am using as a router (not gateway), because it is connected to the DSL modem (not planning to bridge it) through its WAN port. The DSL modem forwards all PPTP traffic to the RV110W.The only pupose of the RV110W for me is to use it as a VPN router.
Info:
Firmware version: 1.1.0.9
Below are the settings I have:
WAN:
LAN:N.B. The modem runs a DHCP server, so I am relaying the requets to it
VPN:N.B. Also tried with 192.168.0.0 and 12.168.2.0 networks; same thing.
Routing Settings:
Routing Table:NB: 192.168.1.11 and 10 are VPN clients (created automatically).
Firewall:Users are being able to successfully connect to the VPN; however, there are couple of problems:
1. They are not assigned a gateway; hence, not internet connectivty (i want them to use the remote gateway)
2. They are not able to access the 192.168.0.0 network; hence unable to reach their DNS server and other hosts (run a tracert; they couldn't go beyond the RV110W VPN server IP). For this, i tried to turnoff the firewall on the RV110W, and also tried to create and Access Rule to allow all outboud and inbound traffic between LAN and WAN, but no success.

I have a pair of RV082 routers and I'd like to configure gateway to gateway VPN tunnel as described in a cookbook, "How to configure a VPN tunnel that routes all traffic to the Remote Gateway," (file name Small_business_router_tunnel_Branch_to_Main.doc). I followed this cookbook and found that my while the Main office has internet connectivity, the branch subnet doesn't have internet connectivity.
Routing does behave as advertised, where all traffic does go to the main office. However, the 192.168.1.0 subnet in the branch office does not get internet connectivity. I've read in other posts that the Main office router will only provide NAT for the local subnet, not the branch office subnet. Is there a way to configure the RV082 router to provide NAT for all subnets?
If not, which Cisco product will provide the VPN Tunnel connectivity as well as the NAT for all subnets? Can the RV082 be used as part of the final solution or are my RV082s a wasted expenditure?
Following is the configuration that I'd implemented, (real IP and IKE keys are bogus).
Gateway To Gateway
Remote Main Office
Add a New Tunnel
Tunnel No. 1 2
Tunnel Name : n1-2122012_n2-1282012 n1-2122012_n2-1282012
Interface : WAN1 WAN1

I've had some issues with my internet connection lately. Occasionally I would have connection interruptions even when I am just browsing the web with no downloads in the background or anything like that. The strange thing is that connection fails right at the vey beginning - if I constanly ping the gateway, I will see that among the continous pings of 1ms or less, every once in a while I would have several "request time out" messages. My laptop is connected directly to the router with a 6 feet cable. I replaced the cable and it still happens. What I also noticed is that if I am online in the MMORG I am playing, I can stay online for long hours, however when I start browsing the web, I would get disconnected pretty soon. So I think somehow browsing (and downloading at high speeds, which is understandable) somehow triggers these timeouts. I dont know what to make out of it.

I'm sitting around 6-15 feet away from my wireless router, and I keep losing wifi. I end up having to right click on the wifi icon in the bottom right corner and click Troubleshoot Problems. The problem which is found and fixed is "The default gateway is not available." During the troubleshooting, Intel My Wifi Technology gets disabled and then re-enabled, and things usually start to work again.ometimes I have to unplug the router to re-cycle it to fix the problem. When this happens is inconsistent - sometimes when I'm actively working, other times when I return from being away from my machine.[CODE]

I have newly deployed network. I have two ASA5520-AIP20-k9. both connected to ISP and configured as Active/standby failover. the ASAs were working fine at first but later on, the internet connection becomes very slow. the ping reply i am getting from my next hop(ISP router) varies during the peak hour is some times in 2000 msec or above but during off hours, the ping reply time is 1 and 2 msec. when I directly connect my laptop to the link that comes from the ISP its ping reply is 1msec and 2msec. I thought the ping reply of the ASA5520 to the ISP gateway should be constant and should be 1 and 2 msec regardsless of the traffic passing through the firewall.

I am trying not to run before i can walk,.. so first thing I'm trying to do is ping out to a DNS server in the internet: 212.135.1.36 from my internal network.
- If I put a default gateway on my router, and set to 172.16.32.254 (Firewall Vlan100 interface) and ping,.. it works fine from my router.
- If put a default gateway on my switch below the router as 172.16.32.252 (VLAN100 interface of the router) and ping from the switch it doesnt work.
I assume its getting to the switch as I can ping the 172.16.32.252 from the switch so the router is dropping the packets... my question is why!?
Once this bit works,.. the intention is to route any external bound traffic that comes from VLAN100 to 172.16.32.254, external bound traffice from VLAN200 to 172.16.64.254 etc etc

I am having problems with my linksys wireless G ADSL gateway WAG54GS router. I am on Windows Vista/Internet Explorer. When I set up the router to work on the internet when I first bought it (several years ago), something must have gone wrong in the installation because it works only when connected to the computer by the lead, and NOT wirelessly.
While this is fine for general internet browsing etc on the main computer, my problem now is that I cannot connect anything else to it (such as my Playstation 3) because the router does not work wirelessly and I do not have the WPA key that the PS3 asks for. Is there any way can fix this without doing a complete reset on the router?
[ALSO: the router also periodically goes wrong, e.g. loses connection for no reason at all - I often have to disable and then enable the internet connection, or turn the router off for 15 seconds then switch it on again, and then it's fine again. I live in a rural area though, so it might be because of a poor connection. Our telephone connecton isn't very good either and sometimes goes wrong.]

I have Cisco 871 router with 12.3. OS version.
1. I'm interested if it's possible to block certain contetn only at certain time ? e.g. We would like to block facebook from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 11:00 to 15:00. I was going through cisco manuals but can't find the right answer to this.
2. Cisco 871 has 4 LAN interfaces and one WAN interface. Currently WAN interface is connected to adsl modem in bridge mode and LAN 0 interface is connected to switch.
I'm interested if I could use remaining 3 LAN interfaces for adsl connections same as I'm using WAN interface. Then I would create vlans that would use LAN interface 0. Each of those VLAN's would use different adsl connection.I would assign different IP to each VLAN's so users would be able to change their gateway and use different ADSL connection.

I am looking to upgrade my dumb switches to a Cisco 2960 switch. I wanted to check and make sure that this configuration would be supported. I will need to setup 4 vlans on the Cisco 2960 switch, 1 for vmotion traffic, that would not have internet access, one for management traffic that would not have internet access, one for standard server traffic and one for vmserver traffic, those would both need internet access. Would the Cisco switch work with the SMCD3G-CCR gateway ok, or would I need another router in order to do this?

The Command "ip classless" is not set. I read on some blogs that this might explain the issue. However, when I go into config mode (config t), I get the following output.

I have a single Nexus 7K (6.x) with only F2 modules and I would like to SPAN the same source interfaces and vlans to mulitple destination servers (interfaces). When configuring SPAN to a single destination traffic gets replicated successfully but when I add an additional destination to the same SPAN session then none of the destination interfaces receive any traffic. As soon as modify the SPAN to include only a single destination interface it works again. I'm guess this is a limitation of the Nexus 7K 6.x code or the F2 modules.

We have a Windows XP machine on our network that is giving us a strange problem. We have it statically configured with an IP and a default gateway address which points to a router on our network. This is the same router that nearly all of our machines point to and none of the other machines have this issue. If we open up CMD and make a ping request from an outside server (public or interal servers on other subnets) we get a 'destination host unreachable' error. We can ping the ip address of the router that is assigned as the default gateway. We can circumvent this ip address by adding a static route ('route add' from CMD) directing all traffic on the network interface to the ip of the router. Once this is done we can ping and get a response from any server both internal and external. We also tried doing a tracert (without have the static route added) to an external site by IP address. The tracert does not even show a hop for the router so it seems as if the request is never making it past the interface on the XP machine. We simply get an error saying it is unable to find the host. Interesting though it does provide us with a domain name for the ip address. So somehow it is able to reslove DNS. (We have a local DNS server on the same subnet)
