Feb 25, 2012I have a Ralink 802.11b/9 54 bps wireless USB adapter.I was able to install the drivers and get it so the computer sees the adapter and the adapter is able to see and connect to my wireless. It will not however connect to the internet. (I am using a HPpav a1113w with windows XP and I have a Dlink wireless router)

Jan 28, 2011I am using Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895, with Windows 7 Home Premium.My laptop has been running beautifully since I updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium in Fall 2009. However, today the laptop has not been connecting to the wi-fi. It could not read the Atheros wireless card built into the laptop, and the all the network settings showed was the Ethernet adapter (realtek). I tried restarting and shutting down the laptop but it still did not read the wireless card (though the wireless light on the laptop was on, indicating that the wireless is on).
Then, after 4 hours of leaving the laptop shut down, the wireless started again. However, a half hour later it was down again, with the same problems already stated. The light was on and the card was not read. During my time online, I did manage to download the driver update from Toshiba website (Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 7 (32/64). I tried to install it but I received error messages, including: I tried again but I still received this message, but with a different file: I have no Ethernet connectivity and I need to use the wi-fi.

I'am running Win7 64-bit and i have Belkin USB wireless adapter( Belkin surf N150) When i first bought the adapter it didnt connect to internet, so i though it is not working and i got it replaced. I got the same problem with the second one as well, and then i have changed the wireless mode on the device manager from: IEEE 802.11b/g/n to: IEEE 802.11b and eventually i have connected to internet without any errors, but in this mode the internet is unbelievably slow which is very slow when compared to another wireless mode where i have changed it from. So my question is why i can't connect to internet IEEE 802.11b/g/n in this mode? The weird thing is that some times it connects to internet with no error and dissconnects again in a short while. Also when the windows tries to repair it, i get this report:

In years past we have found hurricanes and other disasters may have forced Engineers to work from home or out of hotel rooms for several weeks. Since that time we are now using VoIP phones that require a power over Ethernet (PoE) LAN connection. Along with the phone we already have an external power brick that we can take home that supplies the PoE LAN connection. However, that requires that you have access to the router so you can run a physical cable from the router to the power brick.
That's fine when you are at your own house and have access to your own router. But in the case of a hotel, you can't run a cable to the router. Many hotels have gone to wireless only and don't have a physical LAN jack to plug into. So I've been looking at something like the Netgear WNCE3001 Dual-Band Internet Adapter. That will supply a physical LAN connection from WiFi only. But it does not have PoE. So now if we are going to work from a hotel room, we need the VoIp phone, the power brick and the WiFi Internet adapter. 3 seperate items to lug around.
Is there such a device that would allow you to pickup a WiFi signal in a hotel room and has a physical LAN jack that is also capable of PoE? I could at least lose the power brick then.

Sep 8, 2012I am running Windows 7 and have a Ralink 802.11n wireless LAN card. I have had no issues with this and a month ago my roommate randomly decided to switch from Verizon to Brighthouse. This switch took 3 weeks but everything is hooked up and working (almost) fine now.
My computer picks up the wireless signal fine but when I type in the password it says the password is incorrect (Ive tried 100 times, case sensative, yada yada). That same password works fine for my roommates computer to connect and fine for my iPhone to connect. If I connect through an actual cable, the internet works fine on my desktop.It seems to me like an issue with Windows. Windows is updated and all of the appropriate drivers and updates are current as far as I can tell.

Problem is, I can't find how to use it. I have it running under Services. The supplied utility & drivers are installed, but I stopped loading the utility since it causes the PS2 mouse to stop responding as soon as the utility loads. The stick connects and does work, but I have no control over it without running the utility.
I tried another no name sticks software (the exact same stick, but under a different name) but it has a overly complex utility (and a newer driver), but it causes the Laptop to lock up completely.I never used a USB wireless stick before and never used wireless anything in 2k when I use to run it 6 or 7 years ago. The Laptop isn't for me.Does 2k have the ability to run a wireless device with its own utility as it does in XP, or is this because it is a USB stick, not a PCI card where the problem is?

If I use an Ethernet wire and connect it to the router, it can set up a wireless connection with the machine, I can unhook the hardwire, and I'm good to go. But every time I reboot, it won't connect unless I set it up with the hardwire first. Impractical.All other devices attached to the router are fine and connected to the Internet. How can I get the router to maintain the settings for this new connection so it will connect wirelessly when I reboot?

Also turned security on and off and xbox 360 reported the changes in security on the 5.0 network.So the xbox 360 is definitely seening the 5.0 network. and can tell if it is running WPA2 or not..If it can see the 5.0 network and recognizes what security and network type (infrastructure) is set, would would stop it from connecting to the WRT610n router and getting an IP address? No mac filters or firewalls are set and, again, connects just fine and gets an ip address if I select the 2.4 (network1 ssid) instead.

Oct 19, 2012I took this wifi adapter from a pc that isn't being used, and decided to plug it into one that is. While it was in the other pc, it worked, now that it's in this pc it doesn't detect ANY wifi networks. I decided to plug it into a laptop and it worked the minute the drivers were installed.The problems are as follows:
* When plugged into the pc, the adapter's utility app just says "Checking status" and no info being displayed thereafter.
* Windows says the device is working, but it does not come up in the Internet Access popup window in the task bar.
* No info comes up in Xirrus except for the name of the adapter.
I installed both the drivers that came with the adapter, and the latest drivers from windows update. Neither worked.It is a Billion BiPAC 3011N adapter.
