i have a external usb adapter having a detachable antena connecting with the router thorgh wire and is on the roof.. so i can't move it.. its providing me internet. i want to access internet in my home wirelessly. my usb adapter is having a usb port.can i connect this wirelss adapter having male usb port with the wireless router having female usb port in it.. to share the internet at home.

At first all was well, then a few months ago i noticed (upon star-up) that the network adapter was not connecting to my Belkin router? The Network & sharing centre tells me that it is connected, although the icon on the bottom toolbar shows a yellow triangle & reads No Internet connection? I have to go through the same process evrytime to get connected, which usually takes approx. 5 mins That is to follow the Network/share centre's troublshooting? I have updated the adapter Driver, yet still the problem exists?

It sees the router, it connects, I show strong signal strength, but get a "limited connection or no connection" error back from the router...can't get on the Internet. If I use an Ethernet wire and connect it to the router, it can set up a wireless connection with the machine, I can unhook the hardwire, and I'm good to go. But every time I reboot, it won't connect unless I set it up with the hardwire first. Impractical.All other devices attached to the router are fine and connected to the Internet. How can I get the router to maintain the settings for this new connection so it will connect wirelessly when I reboot?

When it gets to the plug router into wall portion, it just sits there and eventually says its hooked up wrong. However the wifi is already working (checked by logging into my kindle fire) as well as my second port which is hooked to my ps3. However my 1st port which is connected to the pc does nothing. I have swapped the cables with no luck. So I cant figure out why there is no communication between the router and my pc.

I tried updating it with the Cd and it said it was up to date. The computer is a Compaq presario and is about 14 years old. I looked in device manager and there were no? s or !s in adapters.

I go to my Internet options and my house's Internet router doesn't show up. I remember a long time ago I was clearing space on my computer because its and old one and it runs slow Because I don't have much memory and I might have accidently deleted the linksis progam / installation. And I have no way of re-intalling it. I think the only way of re-installing it is using the linkage disc but I lost it in some boxes packed in storage.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem getting serial interfaces to show up with a NM4A/S card in a 3745 router. It worked at first but now the serial interfaces don't show up in running-config but show diag shows the card is present but says "Port adapter is disabled deactivated". I have tried the card in 3 different slots and of course turned off power when moving card around (left power cord in for grounding). Again, it was once working (serial interfaces were showing up in running-config) so if I damaged the slot somehow, however I was very careful when seating card. Have been searching the learning network and google for days now to no avail. Have tried to find something similar to the card type command thinking the port adapter needs to be activated but have not found any documentation about that. Hope card isn't bad all of a sudden but really don't think it is since it worked before and it seems to be recognized just not showing serial interfaces in running-config/sh ip int b (on ios/cli). Really think it's something along the lines of activating card, but not sure.

I have 2 laptops with wireless N adapters that will connect at a maximum of only 72Mbps. I've tried changing the security mode to WPA2 Personal, channel width to 40 MHz only, and 20MHz only. I've changed the network mode to N only. I've updated the drivers on the adapters and ran the update on the E2500 router. I get the same 72Mbps if the laptops are right next to the router. How can I get the connection speed faster?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using a WRT120N on a local area connection.The WRT120N acts as a gateway and also to connect to the PPOE connection, via a bridged adsl modem.I've noticed that the LAN port 1 was flashing although the network cable was disconnected from the physical port. I've restarted a few times but to no avail as well. Ever since that, I've noticed that connection through cable are unstable and hard.Now, I'm not able to reset or upgrade the router's firmware.Is there any other way to be done so that I can get this router working as normal again.

The modem is plugged into the AUX port and I am dialing into the modem, everything seems to be working fine as I get a login prompt and my banner etc but I can't type anytihng. If I type then nothings happens... If I just type a bunch of random characters on the keyboard then when the authentication prompt times out and it goes back to the username, it will show a few of those characters.. I have tried many things, changing speeds etc, I have even tried changing modems and it is doing the exact same thing.Here is my config:

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion desktop computer running Windows XP Home Edition. It used to never get internet wirelessly for some reason until one day i played around with it. I don't remember how but I got it to go online and it worked ever since. Just recently i have moved from my previous home and have finished setting up both of our computers. The Vista (the one i am using to write this) is an Ethernet connection and is having no problem connecting to the internet. Although, the XP for some reason will not connect to the internet. The adapter will find the network but when i type in the WPA2 it tries to connect but i think it times out or something. I have tried several solutions and none have worked. My father has a Toshiba laptop and he is currently having no issue with connectiong wirelessly to the internet. Our old verizon router stopped working when we attempted to set it up after the move, so verizon came and istalled a new one. It is secured with a WPA2 code whereas our older one was secured with a WEP code. I think it might be a problem with either the router or the wireless adapter itself (which is a Linksys Wireless-B Network Adapter). Also, when i logged into my router manager thing, I noticed that under the network, it said the XP was an inactive Ethernet Connection and not Wireless.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a E1550 that works fine until I tried adding an external USB HDD for storage. The drive is a Western Digital 500MB drive I used to use for backups. Had no issues setting up the share and was able to access it just fine. But a few hours after hooking it up, my wireless devices could no longer connect and I could not access the admin page to see what was wrong. The E1550 was still pingable and my wired devices could still access sites through the router. Cycling power to the router did not work. What did get things working again was removing the USB drive (which killed all wired connections as well) and then cycling power. The E1550 was fine after that.

A few months ago, I lost connection on my desktop computer and I reconnected... however, it didn't actually connect. When I hovered my cursor over the Wireless Network Connection icon, it just said "Acquiring Network Address" and never connected. I got onto my laptop and did a quick search on the problem. A few wrong moves later, and I couldn't even find my wireless network.
Despite all of my attempts at creating a connection, I still have no internet. I've even tried plugging my computer into my WRT54G router via cable, and still no connection. It's not the router that's the problem, though, as my two other computers and xbox have perfect internet connection.
I use Windows XP, I use a WRT54G router, I have Mediacom high speed internet, and that's about all I know.
