So have a wireless guest network on an N600 router. Here is my setup:
pf sense -> untangle -> switch <- N600
the N600 is just an access point and does no DHCP. The primary wireless network gets IP no problem but the guests are not getting an IP. I'm assuming the N600 has no way of issuing an IP on the guest network. how to set a DHCP server on the guest network and have a static route to the pfsense firewall from that network.
I have this guest wlan working with web authentication, as you may know in order to get authenticated you must have an IP address first then have a valid username and password. The problem is that if you don't have valid credentials you keep the IP address anyways.I'd like to know if there is a way to release the IPs that are not being used? The WLC is the DHCP server for this network.

This is rattling my brain. I have configured 2 SSIDs, one for internal, one for guests. They are on seperate VLANs (50 and 51) and bridge groups (1 and 2). I can get IPs via DHCP for the internal network, but not for the guest. I can't get DHCP for any VLAN 51 sub-interface, nor clients that connect to it. The overall goal is to keep all traffic on the guest network seperate from the internal traffic, however, DHCP requests will be from an internal server. I have removed all the access-lists for troubleshooting purposes. AP and Switchport configs are below!

My router a E4200. the thing is i want to disable the dhcp services from the router, because there are allready a dhcp server in my network. but if i disable the dhcp will the Guest wifi functions still work?

Is there a way to get a list of the DHCP clients on the guest network? I'm able to do this for the non-guest access via the WEB interface's Status->Local Network->DHCP Clients Table page. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just moved to Auckland, NZ from the USA to go to school at the university here, and am having a problem connecting to the internet in the university residence hall in which I am living.Wifi is not available in the residence halls, so we need to use an Ethernet cable. When I plug in my computer, the network adapter icon says Identifying for a while then settles on Unidentified Network with no internet access, the IP is 169.x.x.x.When I try to release and renew the IP, it says unable to contact your DHCP server, request has timed out".I've tried multiple Ethernet cables, both brand new.I tried connecting to a port in a friend's room in the same building, and even in a classroom on campus, and both had the same result.Naturally after all that I assumed my NIC somehow died overnight while I traveled here, so I went to a computer repair shop expecting to have some hardware replaced, but we plugged it in there and it worked immediately so they weren't sure what to tell me.

It seems to take a while to deliver an IP address making the client device show the "limited or no connectivity" message, which of course makes the users complain. On one occassion I have seen my own client eventually picking up an address even after the limited connectivity message appeared. On another I saw the debug showing "Dhcp request for autoconfig address", which I suspect is a symptom of the problem.
Our Anchor Controller is the DHCP server and is a 4402 running 7.0.98.0 - I've attached some DHCP packet debug.
I have an existing setup consisting of:
Windows Server - doing DHCP for private wired/wireless
Cisco 1141 Autonomous WAP with only private wireless access.
ASA 5505 (with very basic licensing)
HP switch
The customer wants to have guest WiFi.
The guest WiFi is going out to the internet via a seperate VLAN/interface on the ASA. Can the 1141 do DHCP for the guest WiFi? Or do I need to do it via the ASA?

I have the internal private wlan running off of port 1 and that is working fine with an internal dhcp server.Is it possible to setup another ssid (guest) and have the interface directly linked to a static ip on the WAN and also use the built in cisco internal dhcp server?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have two 5508 ver 7.3.0, one is the primary and one is the guest controller. mobility is up and running. i have an exising guest ssid working with wpa2-psk and web authentication and its working fine but i require a second guest ssid that only uses a wpa2-psk for ipod/ipads as i cant use passive client on primary controller. i presently have the one vlan range and dhcp setup on the guest controller to give addressing to either ssid. i know you can have multiple ssid setup on the guest controller but in other sites i have only had one guest connection comming from the primary controller, just a primary controller on each sites was only creating one link to the same guest controler.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 x Redundant Guest Anchor Controllers (5508) located in 2 separate Data Centers with all the management and guest user VLAN spanned between two. Everything is working fine with the Guest WiFi access except the DHCP functionality as the Controllers are acting themselves as the internal DHCP Servers.
This is how I tried to distribute :
network. 10.1.0.0/23
gateway: 10.1.1.254
Controller 1, DHCP Server pool: 10.1.0.2 - 10.1.0.254 Gw: 10.1.1.254
Controller 2, DHCP Server pool: 10.1.1.2 - 10.1.1.254 Gw: 10.1.1.254
As the user load balancing between the Anchor Controllers cannot be controlled (i.e. they are active/active), the same client sometime getting 2 different IP addresses from both the Controllers (as they do not talk to each other in terms of DHCP) hence depleting the pool addresses.
I guess one way of solving this is to just run 1 DHCP server in one of the controllers but that defeats the purpose of having N+1 Controllers. Is there a better way of doing the DHCP load balancing and having full redundancy at the same time?

In our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.
SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet

Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.
with our WLC 5500 controller, once the clients get the DHCP address the page is not redirecting them to the guest portal.What is the best way to check as to why the redirection is failing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with a Netgear N600 as my main router. I have a wirelesss HP printer that accesses fine as does Iphones and Ipad. Then I have hard wires. Off of the main router I have 3 Netgear 5 port switches. 1 switch with a line to bedroom tv and a line to family room tv. 1 Switch at family room TV which goes to Blu Ray, Direct Tv, and Xbox360. 1 switch at bedroom for Blu Ray and Direct TV. Believe it or not, this all worked. I tried to hook up a ZmodoH264 security system (the ones with four cameras, and a separate hard drive and monitor for viewing). I used one of the 4 inputs on the main Netgear router for this, and it seemed to be recognized. But, I can't access the security system mobilly, AND all my network addresses seem to have been screwed as Directv isn't working (Whole Home) and the printer stopped being recognized. However, Blu Rays are still fine. Is there a way with ipconfig to list all of my hard wired nodes? I assume wireless dont show up in a list.

But when i created a guest account using this guest role, after webauthentication , there is no prompt to change password. Is this the intended behaviour or is there anything else that i need to configure. Looking at it, i am not sure how the NGS would allow a "guest user" to really overwrite the password by allowing password change. ? is that not a security risk as well for the NGS ? my setup has 5508 anchor controller and NGS communicating via RADIUS.

I implement webauth via webauth page on wlc deployed.One Branch with a WLC5508 version 7.0 wireless anchor controller is working on the NGS.But now I integrate next branch with WLC4402 version 6.0.188 and the authentication of users at the new branch gets an error, wrong user/password.
I double checked configuration and user/password but I can't find any configuration error. Also stopping and starting of radius service and reboot of NGS still does not work. I tried to debug the radius via web interface and watched for the loggfile and there is still a reject.I also tried the freeradius command radiusd -X but I got an error when starting the radiusd -X.
1.) How can I figure out, if I will get the correct password from my WLC ? Are there any debug options to see more ? e.g. some cli commands, radiustest utilities or how to get the received password from the chap challenge of the debug ?
2.) I have appended a part from my radius loggfile. How can I find the detailed error in the radius log file? Is it correct that the password in the debug file is empty ? raiuds logg line "[radius-user-auth] expand: %{User-Password} -> "
I have a Compaq with XP wired on a Network with a Belkin N600 Router.There are 5 computers on the Network, (4 wired, one wireless) and this is the only computer that I have problems with connectivity. It connects to the Belkin through 2 switches.Typically when I turn the system on it connects, downloads mail, etc. After a short period of time there is no connectivity to the network for printing nor the internet.I may get connectivity randomly again after a while, but you never know if or when you will get connectivity again for sure. I am using Explorer.I had loaded some Belkin software with no luck so I uninstalled it. The other computers have no special software for the router.
