I have a HP CP2025N laser printer that has been happily working on my Apple network. Now all of a sudden I keep getting a "printer not connected" error. I reset the network to no avail. I am running Lion, the printer is connected via an ethernet cable on a Apple Express routter that extends an apple extreme. Again this configuration has been running for two years now.

After a few hiccups the router works with all of our computers, blackberry's, wireless printer and Ipod touch's however my Apple TV 1G will not connect to the network. The Apple TV will just give the error code -6 after the password for the network has been entered. I double checked that the password for the router is only WEP 10 hex digits and that it is correct have tried reseting the Apple TV to the factory settings and using the DHCP Reservation in the network settings of the router and manually configuring the TC/IP settings on the Apple TV (Not quite sure what I am doing with this though so put everything back). View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the dir-655 router, and am impressed by it's speed. I had no problems configuring the router to my liking, and have found that all of my wireless devices communicate with it flawlessly.
However, my main reason for purchasing this router was for the USB port. I had hoped to connect my 2TB external drive and have it accessible by all wireless devices in my home. To my understanding, the USB port relies on the use of the Shareport Utility. I've installed the Shareport Utility to my laptop for wireless access to my media files for streaming.
Here's my problem. How can I access my media on my external HDD connected to the dir-655 with Apple TV2? I've read several options for PS3 users... and they all seem to involve leaving the pc/laptop running. I would ultimately like to bypass the necessity of leaving my laptop on... but if that's not a possibility, I can live with it being left on.
Therefore, is it possible to access the external drive connected to the dir-655 with my Apple TV 2 by using the laptop as a bridge? Can I access the content via Apple TV by using Windows SMB just as I currently do to access media stored on my laptop?
To summarize, I want to have access to the media on my external drive connected to the dir-655 via Apple TV2.
A customer of ours has the following access points and wireless lan controllers on site. They want to use the Apple Bonjour service with Apple TV's and iPads. I have enabled multicast feature of the 5508 globally and one the SSID.The Apple TV has an ethernet connection and the iPads connect over the wifi. The Apple tv is on the same subnet as the iPad's - the Bonjour features do work for approx 5/10 minutes then it stops working for some reason. The Access Points plug into a Cisco 2960 Layer 2 switch, the 5508 controllers plug are in LAG mode and plug into a Nortel Layer 3 stack which I have enabled IGMP snooping.I've read that the Apple Bonjour service isnt designed to work on a multi subnet network - but both the Apple TV and iPad are connected on the same subnet. Sounds like some kind of timeout but not too sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter making some physical changes to my home network (which had been running for sometime without incident) my desktop machine stopped (home built MSI X58 Platinum MB) talking to the network. I get "media not connected" even though I am connected, and the connection works for any other computer I attach. I get indication of proper physical connection at both ends (router and computer ethernet port), however I get no connection and the default 169 .... IP address. It does not matter if I create a fixed IP address in the router and set the ip address of the port to correspond. I have tried all the ip resets, stack resets, remove and reinstall the network ports, etc., to no avail. Connecting directly to the cable modem did not work. I even installed a new buss ethernet card with its own drivers and I get the same 'media not connected'.

If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows:
a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
I have an acer laptop and although I have wirelessly connected to my canon mp560 printer, it loses the connection and I cannot reestablish it so my lap top tells me the printer is offline. Is there something else I need to do or load on for this to work every time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBought multiple WAP121s which are physically connected via CAT5 to the Ethernet NIC of a printer. Printer is in a warehouse with no Ethernet cabling -- but there is a wifi signal provided by a Cisco wireless router -- which is why we got the WAPs -- so PCs could get their jobs sent to the printer via Wifi > WAP > printer NIC.
Problem is the printers only stay visible on for about 15 min or so -- then disappear. Only way to get them visible again is to do a powercycle on the printer (not the WAP121). Then it stays visible for for another 15 minutes or so -- then disappears. If a Workstation sends a continues (-t) ping to the printer IP -- the printer will stay online and get print jobs.... but if activity is idle for 10-15 minutes... it disappears (power-save is off on the printer).
Firmware on WAP121 is current.
What setting on the WAP could be enable to keep the printers alive? have been trying to operate in bridge mode... What is the "best practice" here for connecting a printer to a WIFI via these WAP121s?
I have configured remote access VPN with radius authentication in my firewall ( ASA 5510). When tried to connect the VPN with Cisco vpn client, the following error is showing,
"Error: Secure VPN connection terminated by Peer. Reason 433 (Reason not specified by peer)".

Problem: On 3 Xerox 5745 display panel shows: "Network Controller booting"
at 75% the system restart and go on again and again.

One of our Cisco 6500's fitted with a WS-X6704-10GE line card is showing a large number of Rcv-Err's on port 3. The port is disabled and no optic is even plugged in.Upon clearing counters, after every refresh the counters increment by 131070 -- so 131070 > 262140 > 393210 and so on. Seems a little strange that the buffer is full when nothing is connected.

If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again. If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem.
