I have an HP C7250 printer connected to our local network. Both my computer and the printer say it is online. The print que says it is off line. I can't print anything.
View 1 RepliesI have 2 XP machines, both connected to a network switch which connects them to a print server attached to a printer. The last print server recently died and has been replaced, but the problem remains. I've downloaded the driver from the printer manufacturers website and installed on both XP machines, one functions fine but after each reboot the printer is grayed out on the other. Removing it and adding again fixes this until the next reboot.I am aware of some networking issues at this site which result in a few dropped packets between sites but shouldn't be an issue here since they are all attached to the same switch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got 3 computers (2 desk 1 lap) all running Windows 7. I have 2 network printers. The printers are wired to one of the desktops and the other 2 computers connect via network. The printers work fine once I add them to each computer, but once I restart, the printers appear offline on the other 2 computers even though they work fine on the desktop to which they are wired.I've had this setup for a while and only recently this started happening. It looks like Win7 is messing with the IPs of the printers. I'm not an expert on how to find the IP addresses of the printers though and set them to static (if this indeed is the problem)

Tried to re-establish factory setting on the Menu for wireless and then res-et the wirless configuation.It finds the SSID but after typing in password etc it cannot estbalish a connection?

Set up was easy all is working good with the computers. |However, I plugged my HP Photosmart C5100 printer into the router (first slot). The computer seems to know it is there, and the printer seems to recognize the router, but it will not printer. Microsoft diagnostics says that the printer is not ON, and the printer is listed on Devices as Offline. The printer is about 5 years old, but it is a trooper and I don't want to to get rid of it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have an HP DeskJet 3050 wireless printer connected by WiFi to two laptops. One laptop, a Dell 700m, runs XP Pro with all updates applied. The other laptop, a Dell XPS 15, runs Windows 7 64-bit, again with all updates applied.The printer works completely reliably from the XP machine. From the XPS 15, the printer works reliably for a day or so, then the icon in Devices & Printers is grayed, indicating the printer is offline. Even in this condition, I can access the printer's built-in web server using Firefox on the XPS 15 and the connection appears to be fine. The printer's IP address has not changed. But the printer is still reported as offline for printing by Windows.
The workaround is to delete the device and reinstall it using Add Printer and Have Disk, but using the already installed drivers rather than re-installing. After doing that, the printer then works for a few days before again going offline.This problem is extremely irritating. I've done Google searches on this problem. Although I've found a variety of similar reports for various brands of wireless printers on Vista or Windows 7, I've not seen a solution. My latest attempt is to share the printer on the Dell 700m and print to the shared printer from the XPS 15. We'll see if that continues to work for a few days (I suspect it will). But this isn't really a solution and not always convenient.
I recently purchased a DIR-655 and everything's working fine -- Internet access, visibility of local shares, etc. -- with the one except accessing to my printer (Brother MFC-7440N) that's hard-wired to a port on the router.After installing the latest PC SharePort Utility on my two Windows 7 desktops, they're both able to connect and use all of the features of the printer (print, scan, etc.). However, I can't say the same for my two Macbook Pro's connected via WiFi (802.11N). I installed the latest Mac SharePort Utility on both, but neither can "see" the printer. Caveat: If I connect the laptops via a LAN cable (ie. hard-wired directly into the router), they're able to see the printer. how to configure the router (or Mac) to allow them to see the printer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2000 router. I am trying to install an Epson NX230 printer on my home network. Apparently, the Epson printer has a MAC address assigned to it. My network cannot find the printer. I looked at my riuter setup and the MAC Address Clone has two buttons, Enabled Disabled. The Disabled button is clicked on. Accdording to documentation I foudn on this website, it looks like I can Enabled the MAC Address clone button. The document also mentgioend entereding the MAC address for a PC.
If I enable the MAC Address Clone, do I enter the MAC address for the printer or during the install process does the MAC address get installed also
I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together. The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline. Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines. I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router. This always works. Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now. It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.
I am using Open-VPN to connect directly to our server at our office. We have a main network printer at the office that everyone uses. While hardwired, I added the printer to my laptop. When I am at the office, either wired or wirelessly, I can print to the printer. When I try to print from home, the printer never opens, it is unable to connect. Is there a way to access a network printer when logging in remotely through VPN?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently took my Dell Inspiron1545 out of sleep mode and my wireless internet connection no longer works.i have tried power cycling the 2-wire modem and the Cisco Valet router and resetting as well. I also have another laptop and xbox that use this network and are having NO issues in connecting and working perfectly fine.
The only device not working is the Dell laptop. I've tried removing the network profile, uninstalling the wifi driver and reinstalling after powercycling the computer and still nothing but limited connectivity only The WLAN utility has stated that the "Gateway IP Ping" has failed Now the laptop will connect to internet via LAN cable however will not to WiFi

I am currently having a problem connecting a hardlined (ethernet connected) PC to a wireless printer. I want to know first of all if this is even possible. If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows:
a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
Bought multiple WAP121s which are physically connected via CAT5 to the Ethernet NIC of a printer. Printer is in a warehouse with no Ethernet cabling -- but there is a wifi signal provided by a Cisco wireless router -- which is why we got the WAPs -- so PCs could get their jobs sent to the printer via Wifi > WAP > printer NIC.
Problem is the printers only stay visible on for about 15 min or so -- then disappear. Only way to get them visible again is to do a powercycle on the printer (not the WAP121). Then it stays visible for for another 15 minutes or so -- then disappears. If a Workstation sends a continues (-t) ping to the printer IP -- the printer will stay online and get print jobs.... but if activity is idle for 10-15 minutes... it disappears (power-save is off on the printer).
Firmware on WAP121 is current.
What setting on the WAP could be enable to keep the printers alive? have been trying to operate in bridge mode... What is the "best practice" here for connecting a printer to a WIFI via these WAP121s?
I have a very annoying problem with my Linksys WRT54G2.When I connect a wireless device (laptop, phone, TV, Ipad) to my wireless network I only see a Local connection, no connection to internet. After resetting the router (power off for several seconds) the internet-connection is available again.I have to do this every 1 - 2 days.

The wireless routers in the picture have been replaced with Netgear WG602 WAP's in an attempt to fix this problem. Ive aquired a smart phone (android) and decided to setup two WAP's on my property for mine or my guests' usage. When I connect to the WAP on the android my Linksys Router gets knocked offline and I have to unplug it to get everything on the network to connect to the internet.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a small network (one server, two clients) to create photo sales kiosks at an upcoming outdoor event. I will need internet access for processing credit card payments but there won't be any wi-fi or ethernet internet access on the site so I'll need to utilize my iPhone's 3G connection. I recently installed "MyWi" app which can tether the 3G and even create a personal wi-fi hotspot but unfortunately it only works in ad-hoc mode, not infrastructure.So far, the wired LAN is working great on my three Macbooks, using a Linksys (DD-WRT) router. Also, the wi-fi hotspot is working great to provide internet to all the computers. The problem, of course, is that I can't have both connected at the same time or else everything breaks. I've tried doing an iPhone-USB-Macbook tether and then sharing the connection via ethernet but the internet doesn't get through the router (because I don't have a clue of how to configure the router for this). I've also tried setting my router (DD-WRT) to do a client-bridge of the iPhone ad-hoc wi-fi, but again, it's way over my head and didn't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an apple Airport Express and have managed to set it into my network. Airplay works on both Itunes and my phone. However after 10-15minutes the Airplay drops out and the network map shows that the airport express is 'offline'. however the airport express LED remains showing it still have connection to the network. The only way to get it back is to reset the AE. The apple forum has lots of people stating the same problem with WAG120n routers.

This is the second time I have had this issue happen. Here is some probably useful information:
-I have (2) HP Pavillion dv6000 laptops running on Vista
-I have (1) iPad 2
-I am using a Belkin Surf N300 router
We lost power due to a storm last week, and both of my laptops would not connect to the Internet. I could connect to the router with access saying local only. I called Belkin and they changed some information on my laptop to allow me to connect. Now, I have the same issue with my other HP laptop and again called Belkin but they could not fix the issue. I can connect to the router and use the Internet on my iPad and (1) of my HP laptops, but not my last one. Even when I connect to the router with an Ethernet cable, it says local only access and no internet connection. So I did the ipconfig /all on both laptops and here is what they say..

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer.Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer.All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I got a used computer from my relatives. When i enable my local area connection then it says aqcuiring ip adress for a while. Eventually it stops trying and says network cable unplugged. It worked fine at my relatives place, but not at my place.
