Wanting WiFi available for 100 or more at once for large meetings. What is the best way to solve the throughput problem for such a large group who all may at times be downloading data simultaneously?
whether it's possible to access information relating to 1 computer, from another machine that has previously connected to the same wifi network? For the first time I've connected my work computer to my home wireless network to work from home. When I return my computer to work, will they be able to see everything I've done on that home network using my personal laptop arous that time? My wifi network has WPA2 and has a password. I imagine the work computer would need some kind of logging software, how can I tell this?
easiest way to view files between PC's. I have one desktop PC running Win 7 with all my media connected via ethenet to my router and one laptop running XP plugged into my TV in another room which i browse the net on via WiFi.(there is no phone line in the living room)
So, is it possible to remotely connect to media on the desktop PC using the laptop?I want to access the files i have on the desktop and play them on the laptop in the living room.Ive heard of homegroup for win7 but the laptop has XP.
I recently switched internet service providers from AT&T to Time Warner and ever since I have been unable to connect to my Netgear router with my computer's wifi. However, I have successfully connected my TV wirelessly to said router. One other note, my computer's wifi seems to recognize that the netgear router is there but it just refuses to connect me to the internet
we have been having problems with our wireless internet connection for a while now and have even changed provider without success. What happens is that all our computers lose the internet connection from one moment to the next while the signal strength remains unchanged. when you try to sign back into the home network it is basically impossible. When rebooting the BT router it works, sometimes for a few moments only sometimes it lasts.I am wondering if the reason is that the computers are losing their ip address or has it something to do with the security key?
I'm sort of new to networks so I'm not sure if this is even possible but what I'm trying to do is set up a wired network between computers but leave the wifi on the computer as how it connects to the internet. I'm using two computers connected through a lynksys router(not connected to the internet) and ethernet cable, and one of the computers has a wireless card that connects to another router that is connected to the internet. i can set up a network between the two computers but then the one can't connect to the internet(even though it says it is connected the network with internet),
I have a Mac, and my wife has a PC running Windows 7. Since we moved into our new house, our Dlink DIR-601 does not seem to want to send Wi-Fi to both computers at the same time. One of the computers always seems to lag or not have internet connection at all. The Mac also seems to work better and more often than the PC when both are trying to access wi-fi.
I have messed with the channel settings, security, and most other typical settings on the router to no avail. Is there a setting I'm missing or should I enable certain settings that will allow both computers to have the same signal strength and reliability.
I recently purchased a dir 655 router and it works fine but in after a while of using it, the wifi signal will stop broadcasting my other computers still work with the internet that are hard wired but the ones im using through the wifi signal will loose connection. So my fix has been unplugging the router and plugging it back in then it will broadcast my wifi again. I tryed leaving it plugged in and refreshing and rebooting my computers but that wont fix it until i disconnect the router and plug it back.
WiFi drops 80% packets from new computers (Win7, IPv4 andIPv6 enabled) to reliable internet hosts. WiFi is OK (0% loss) from new computers to E1200 itself (ping E1200 IP address).Old computers, mobile devices, and wired are OK to reliable internet hosts.Basic Wireless Settings are Mixed, Auto Channel Width. Wireless Security is set to WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode. Guest Access enabled.

I have a problem with files sharing via wi-fi. I can not share files over the network using wi-fi connections. While the network is the cable connection sharing is available. The network also acts as one computer is connected by a cable to the router and the other via wifi. But if the two computers are working through wifi network does not work. Are there any settings in the router, which can cause blocking calls via wifi?
I was able to enable printersharing on two computers with the printer attached to my computer, however, I can see the my computer icon on a third computer but it won't open so I can add my printer to its printer folder. All the desktops are the generic type running windows xp except for mine which is running windows vista.
Since about a week ago, my room-mates and I have been getting lag spikes on the internet when more than one of us are on the internet at once, yet the connection is perfectly stable when there is only one active. ( Does not matter which one. )
I've run Avast, AVG and CCcleaner, on all the computers and the spikes still persist. I've also replaced my router with no results. Here's my system info and some tracerts showing the lag spikes

I have an XP machine that is unable to see any other computer on the network. I disabled the firewall and I can ping any device on the network with no issue. I have set several other computers to the same workgroup which is mshome. Lastly I have read several other post and tried the ideas there including this one...Finally, let's do the stack repair.TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.
Start, ]R[/B]un, CMD to open a command prompt:
In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:
Note: Type only the text in bold for the following commands.
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log
Reboot the machine. That did not seem to work. As I am still in the same situation.
another note. This is the only XP on the network. Everyone else is Windows 7. Also on a side note, the reason I am doing this is to install a printer on this one and allow the other computers to print from it and seeing folders is good also.
I have 4 computer, all with them IP address. There is nothing I can do about this. I'd like to access them each via a 5th computer. Originally I thought I can connect each of the 4 computers to 4 different routers and then use NAT to convert their IP address's to 4 unique ones. When I actually applied this solution, the 5th computer was not able to ping the converted IP address. This method either does not work, or I did not config the router correctly. I was using a Cisco RV016 out of the box, and added NAT entries into it's table.
I have a wireless ADSL Router with 2 Windows 7 Computers Connected to it via Wireless. They can see the internet and the Network but not each other.I have connected a wireless HP Officejet 1050 Printer to the Wireless and it can see the wireless and connects. No computers can see the printer or each other on the wireless network and I can not setup the computers to print to the wireless printer.
I have a wireless router which works just fine. I can connect my laptop as well as my iPad to it. I also have a hard wire connection that goes to my computer which works just fine. how can I get my computer to see the other computers in the network? They just don't show up even though I have shared enabled. There is only one router, so I thought it might be automatic, but it doesn't seem to be.
Buy 24port Network Switch connect all 20 computer to it using LAN wire configure the IP Address & Sub mask individually to each computer (Rem: # every IP Address should be similar in first 3rd Quads & 4th Quad should be UNIQUE i.e, 192.168.0.1 then 192.168.0.2 and so on to 192.168.0.20) then input Subnet Mask as 255.255.255.0.Apply & Restart every computer inividually.
I have two identical computers on the same home network (and a couple of others too). My problem is the even though they are connected to the same wireless router and can each see the internet and the printer that online they cannot see each other. When I ping one from the other I get no response though they both receive responses from the router. I can't transfer files etc. It works a while ago but can't seem to get them connected again.
I was getting the standard "Network Path Was Not Found" error that I would get from time to time if I tried to access the drive before my network connection was solid on my computer. So I tried using the Easy Search Utility to "reconnect" to the drive. I tried the mapping feature and when I asked to connect, it asked for a username and password (which I don't remember it asking for in the past), so I typed in the username and password that I use to connect to the drive when doing maintenance and I tried the username and password I use to connect to the drive when connecting remotely through DynamicDNS. Both ended up giving me an error that it couldn't connect.
NOW when I try to use the old mapped reference to connect to it, I get the following error... "Z: refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure the disk is properly inserted...."
I'm currently having troubles using my XP laptop (although I have another XP that is still connecting just fine)One strange thing to note... while I was pecking at buttons trying to figure out what it could be, I started using the Wireless Network Setup Wizard and the first option it gave me was to Add Computers to the Network FSHGuest... which is a hospital network I was using. I didn't complete the wizard. Not sure if this has ANYTHING to do with my problem, but I thought it was interesting.and I checked the wireless workgroup and it is still set to the same group that all my computers are. Can you tell I'm not terrible proficient at network stuff?
Can a computer on our network with no admin privelages cause other computers to shutdown? We have 15 machines that are having force shut downs happening but they are clear of viruses malwares, we have ran multiple scans and nothing but could another computer somewhere on the network tell them to force shutdown closing everything?
I have a vista, an xp, and a win7 computer networked. The xp is very temperamnetal, in that it randomly is accessible and just as randomly disappears. i often get the message "Computer (name) is not assessible...." The trouble is most acute in trying to access the xp machine from the win7.
I have a home wireless network and my service provider is Suddenlink. I use a DLink modem and have two Tosiba laptops. All of this has been working fine until this morning when one of the laptops won't connect to the internet. when I run the trouble shooting guides on it I get messages that the problem is that the modem won't connect to the internet. However, the other laptop (this one) is working fine. when I look at the network map i see both computers and a green line to the modem. on this computer, there is also a green line from modem to internet. the other computer shows a res x on the modem to internet line. this is a sudden change i have restarted the computer the modem and the router. I can also conenect this computer to the internet via a mifi that I have but not the other laptop. there are no red x's on any of the hardware when I go to the "manage" computer.
I know this is sort of a stupid question, but I just spent over an hour with a Microsoft Tech Support guy who had absolutely no clue what he was doing. He frequently paused for five minute intervals to "confer with his resources" (I suspect he was reading an outline that told him what to do), and every time I explained that an issue did not work precisely as he expected, he had to put me on hold and talk to someone else. It was hellishly aggravating
I have a modem connected to my pc, and the ethernet can be removed and connected to a laptop to access internet. How do I prevent access to other laptops and computers?
