3100 - No Support Of Radius Security On Wireless Adapter

Jan 6, 2013

I recently got a refurbished external (USB) wireless adapter by Netgear. It's the WNA3100 but who knows what they did to it while refurbishing it.

I tried using it to connect to the wireless network at my university, and I got the above-displayed error. So what's the deal? This RADIUS thing is not a new technology, right? So any modern wireless adapter should be able to handle it. Why would this thing not support it?

Secondly, if it doesn't work, that's alright. I need a second wireless adapter anyway, so I could use this one at home where the RADIUS thing is not an issue. But how do I make sure this does not happen again with another one that I buy? I can't seem to find anywhere in the specs anything about this compatibility. For instance, I believe I want to get this one next:URL

Cisco Wireless :: Does WLC 5508 (7.2) Support PEAP To MS Radius

Oct 9, 2012

I'm running version  7.2.111.3 on my WLC 5508 and I try to figure out how I can set PEAP towards my configurerd Radius servers. On my Local EAP profile I can specify PEAP, but how is it default configurerd when you just specify the radius servers on the "WLANs > Edit Test > security > AAA servers tab ?

The MS radius logs tell me that it is EAP and not PEAP, so the questions is does the WLC support Microsoft: Protected EAP ???

I have the options for Ipsec only as the Windoes NPS does not support Key wrap from what a previous user confirmed for me here on the board.. But then found another post that states that the 5508 does not support IPsec?

DLink DGS-3100 Switches And Fortigate Firewall / Router?

Jan 11, 2012

DLink DGS-3100 POE switches? I'm working for a place that has these and they are wanting to invest in a VOIP system. I've never seen these type of switches before, and would like some feed back before I roll out a 70+ phone VOIP system. They are managed switches but are all running un-managed at the moment.

They are also using a Fortigate 80cm Firewall/Router. I'm not familiar with this device either.

I'm missing layer 3 as I can't setup any VLan's with this equipment.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Jumbo Frames Coming From Catalyst 3100?

Dec 2, 2012

I have a Cisco Catalyst 3100 blade in a Dell server chassis that is trunked to a 6509.

When doing a protocol capture, I see large frames being sent from one of the servers in the chassis.

Example:

TCP:[Continuation to #1701] [Bad CheckSum]Flags=...AP...,   SrcPort=HTTP(80), DstPort=2667, PayloadLen=2831, Seq=1489611217 - 1489614048,   Ack=1719592331, Win=65535
I see lengths up to 6900+ bites coming from the server.

The switch has the global MTU set to 1500

system mtu routing 1500

and I can't seem to set this at the interface level. The server is configured to send 1500 length frames. Why am I seeing these jumbos? (the server is Windows 2003)

Cisco Security :: 3750 Switch Not Forwarding EAPoL To RADIUS Server

May 27, 2010

I have a 3750 switch stack running version 12.2(53)SE2 IPBASEK9-M. I have dot1x configured on the switch and have a Windows 7 PC connected with 802.1x configured on the interface. I see the EAPoL start message from the PC, but I don't see any RADIUS packets from the switch to the RADIUS server. I have a simple dot1x config just to try to get it working prior to adding additional features such as guest-vlan...

Config and debug file attached.

I don't know if the ip dhcp snooping and arp inspection configuration is causing an issue with this or not. I see the EAPoL packet received on the switch as seen in the debug attachment, but I still never see the RADIUS packet. I did set both to trust on the interface but still the same outcome. I can't disable it since it is a production switch with a test interface.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Security Plus To Terminate Client VPN Access For External Support Team

Aug 7, 2012

I have a customer that wants to purchase an ASA 5510 security plus to terminate client VPN access for an external support team. The customer claims to want URL content filtering/proxy which leads me to suggest a CSC SSM 20 plus module. But upon further conversation, he mentioned wanting IPS. In this case, the customer does not seem to know the difference between the URL content filter/proxy and the IPS and uses both terms interchangably.

1. What would you suggest in your expert opinion would be the best module to get for this customer? IPS or CSC

2. If I go with the CSC module, where can I find good documentation on how to configure it and get it up to date?

3. does the CSC module provide any web proxy functionality?

Cisco Security :: Dell Latitude D820 - Reason 442 / Failed To Enable Virtual Adapter

Feb 5, 2007

I've installed version 4.8.02.0010 of the VPN client onto a Dell Latitude D820 laptop. When I attempt to connect, I get this message. There are no firewalls running (I disabled the Windows XP firewall) and I'm running under Service Pack 2 with all of the latest security patches from Microsoft.

I even tried un-installing the client and using an older version (4.8.00.0440) and it reports a similar error in the Log file.

I'd prefer to NOT have to wipe the laptop and reinstall the O/S if I don't have to. This is the only laptop that I've experienced this problem with but it's also the first Dell Latitude D820 that I've attempted to install the client on.

Is there a problem with the Dell Latitudes and the VPN Client? Is there another way around this other than a wipe and re-install?

Cisco Wireless :: 1242 - Roaming Between APs With No RADIUS

Feb 9, 2011

I have 3 Cisco 1242 WAPs that I have deployed at a site that has NO  RADIUS/AAA devices. I have given all of them a different channel  (1,6,11), but the same SSID and crypto (WPA2-PSK). The issue is when a  machine boots up it associates with the closest/strongest AP, but as the  device "roams" it does not which to a different AP. It stays associated  with the original AP until that signal is gone. Then it quickly  associates with the closest AP with no problem.

How do  I get the device to associate with the strongest WAP? I have research  "fast roaming and WDS" but it seems like you need EAP/LEAP and they do  NOT have that at all.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 5508 Radius Accounting

Jun 5, 2013

I have a WLAN configured with 802.1x PEAP pointing to an external RADIUS server.  It works fine for the most part, but I'm having problem closing accounting sessions in RADIUS.  I've found this is related to the client table in the WLC.  The user session does not end in RADIUS unless the WLC officially removes the client from the db, which takes 5-6 minutes from what I can see (probably due to the default idle timeout of 300 seconds).

For example:

1.  I connect my tablet to the test WLAN.  It associates and authenticates successfully and the WLC sends the accounting info to my RADIUS server, opening up a user session.  If I turn off the wifi in the tablet, the client entry stays in the WLC client table until it times out.  The WLC removes my tablet from the client table after 5-6 minutes, and then the session closes in the accounting table.  I can force the session to close much earlier by manually removing the client from the WLC.

2.  Same as #1, but this time instead of turning of the wifi in the tablet, I choose to connect to a different WLAN in the WLC.  The user session in the accounting DB never closes.  If I reconnect back to the original test WLAN with 802.1x, it opens up yet another user session in RADIUS accounting.  Now I have a "dead" user session in accounting that is going to be open forever unless I delete it from SQL.

Is this an issue with the end user client not sending the disassociation frame properly, or a config problem with the WLC?  How can I make it so that every time a client drops from an AP or moves to a different WLAN, the WLC would immediately send accounting updates to my RADIUS server and close the user session properly?
