If I install one matched pair, the wireless network is found and will connect to the network. If I install all four, the network is not found and the wireless will not connect. The network card is Netgear G PCI adapter 54MBTS 2.4GHz.
My PC has a wieless card in it and last night the internet went off and then I wouldn't find my router at all, just everyone elses.I tried resetting the router, unplugging it an leaving it for a while, then resetting my PC. Tried unplugging the wireless card and plugging back in. Made sure I have latest drivers. Disabled and enable the card.I then tried plugging in an external belkin adapter in the usb and that worked. There are 2 other PC's in the house and they are both connecting to the internet fine. But I tested an old laptop we have and that didn't pick up the router either.I went on the pc in the other room next to mine and tried changing the channel it was on from 12 to 5 and it actually worked now my pc can find my router (???)But we've been having alot of issues lately with bad internet on certain channels etc.I don't really understand why channel 5 would work but channel 12 doesnt? We are experiencing more latency on that channel too.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having difficulty connecting to the internet at my new place, I'm starting to think that the network card I recently bought (D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop Adapter) might have a problem, but I am not sure. I am currently using my landlord's internet, so I don't have access to the router to turn it on and off, which Windows suggests doing constantly, but I don't think that's the problem because I have internet on all my other wireless devices (Phone, PS3, Xbox).I am able to see the router most times and connect to it, but I am unable to connect to the internet, the networking image in the bottom corner has a yellow warning sign. Also, after a certain amount of time, the wireless card is unable to detect any wireless signal, the networking image in the bottom corner has a red X through it. I disabled all networking interfaces besides the wireless card because of an error message that I thought may have been caused by it: "This computer is continuously switching between two or more wireless access points or routers", but disabling the other interfaces did nothing and the message still appears after troubleshooting.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI haven't installed anything new lately, nothing that would affect the wireless, but my wireless suddenly stopped working. My wireless has been working successfully for the past 2 years no problems till now. I have a Dell Latitude E6410 my computer is running Windows 7 32bit. When I open up the DW WLAN Card Utility it says "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled. Please enable any available wireless adapters before accessing this configuration utility. I tried reinstalling drivers for the wireless but my computer says "no compatible hardware found".
Also the under the wireless adapters section of Device Manager there isn't an adapter for wireless, but there is an unknown device.

I've tried to use computer restart magic but no luck there.
Also, my computer is running on a university network. My roommate's wireless is working fine. Also I've already system restored to a point where I know it was working, no luck...
I have a 2wire modem/router to connect to the internet. However, the ethernet controller on my Dell 8400 has a ? by it in the device manager. I'm told by the Internet provider that I need to download a driver to allow the connection. Which driver do I download? My network interface is listed as a Integrated Gigabit Ethernet (Product code IN - SKU - 430-0742). I've gone to the driver download page on Dell's website and entered my service tag, but I still don't really know which driver is needed OR if it's even listed. Broadcom-Driver
R87461.EXE (8MB) - shows optional, so I'm not sure if this is correct or not. By the way, the operating system is Windows(r) XP Professional.
I'm using an nvidia ethernet card that's in my mobo. Yesterday I had internet without any problems but this morning when I turned my computer on, the light on it wasn't blinking. Tried turning power on/off, unplugging and pluhging back but still no solution.Checked Device Manager and there is no (!) or (?) next to the device name. Also it says device is working properly. Even did the "scan for hardware changes" and again it shows that device is working properly.. But that's not all! The weirdest thing here is that my 3 neighbours who are from the same ISP have the exact same problem. We're connectrd to 1 box that is outside. The other part of the village that is on the same ISP has no such problems. So I'm wondering if it's a local corrupt cable problem or our cards have fried. I believe we use fiber optic cables.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my new Dell Dimension 8400 (3.0Ghz/512Mb/XPsp1) to my home wireless network. I installed two diiferent PCI adapter cards in my one available PCI slot -- an older D-Link (11b) and a brand new Netgear (11g) (which Dell Sales assured me is compatible). Both cards detected my Netgear wireless router and provided an excellent internet connection, so I'm assuming they were seated properly. The problem is that every time I shut down the system I get the blue screen of death with the following message:
-Hardware Malfunction
-NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error
-The System has halted
The system runs and shuts down perfectly when the PCI cards are removed. D-Link and Netgear Support technicians told me I have to contact Dell, but Dell Support doesn't seem to have an answer for me. Which wireless PCI adapter cards are truly compatible with Dell hardware?

We have two other laptops and they are connected, no problem. This morning my Sony worked fine on email and web access but I was having trouble on FTP. Then email stopped and then web.I have tried all the usual solutions. Delete the Network, restart etc etc.It clearly show the network (and also another secured network I cannot access). When I connect it shows "Acquiring network address" then just hangs. If I press, repair it hangs on "Renewing your IP address" Does the fact that it can see the networks and when I "ping 127.0.01" it seems to be OK, mean that it CANNOT be a hardware fault? I ask this partly because the WLAN switch at the front often does not seem to work (when it does work it is green and currently it IS green)

I built my own desktop so i'm installing a pcie card won't be too much of a problem, money isn't a concern at this moment. i want something with relatively low ping speeds as well as something that can take advantage of my bandwidth so i'm able to stream hd video

A while back my faithful old IBM ThinkPad became very slow under the weight of too many applications and updates so I replaced it. Now I have decided I would like to revive it mainly as a games machine for my young grandson, so I wiped everything off it and reinstalled Windows XP Home Editon (it previously had XP Pro). It used to access the net via a wireless LAN card (IEEE802.11b/g) and this worked fine. I am now having difficulty reinstalling this device. I thought XP would just pick it up but it doesn't. I tried downloading a driver onto a memory stick using my new laptop but that doesn't work either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got my gaming pc and need a wireless card for it, I have a linksys WRT54G. What wireless card would you suggest? Is usb equally as good as PCI or is PCI still better? My price range is around $50
Forgot to mention the router is just on the other side of a wall, its about 5 feet away.
I have recently started (slowly) upgrading my computer. I have an older desktop, and I'm wanting to eliminate the ethernet cable so I can put my desktop anywhere in the house and not have to worry about running cables. I really can't afford the faster internet at this time and I'm having issues with streaming movies. So I really don't want to lose what speed my internet does have by switching to wireless. The USB adapter is less expensive by a few bucks, but I'm worries it might just stop working randomly, or be slow in comparison to a PCI card. Another issue is with my old motherboard, I only have 2 pci slots and one pci-e slot, I've ordered a new sound card, just installed a video card. So I only have one slot left, and I was wanting to put a TV tuner in that spot.
Should I get the USB (300mbps is what I'm looking at) or should I just get over wanting to put a tv tuner in and just get the card and install it? Just wanting some general advice on what more advanced users think of it. I've seen pci expansions online but that was just way out of my price range, and do not want to have to buy a new motherboard.

The indicator light always stays amber (instead of turning blue when turned on) on external wirless switch. The wireless adaptor should be a Broadcom 802.11b.
