Cisco Routers :: RV042 Doesn't Receive IP Address From ISP On WAN Port
Jan 23, 2012I have a problem with my WAN ports. I can´t obtain a ip adress from my ISP. I´ve tried factory reset. Upgrade to lateset firmware. Clone MAC adress from my PC. Nothing is working.
But when I plug the WAN port into my Old router it receives an adress directly. When I plug the ISP connection directly into my pc or the old router it´s working as well.
I am using the latest firmware: RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin
And My ISP has an interface with an ADSL modem SmartAX with DHCP.
Cisco WAN :: 881 3G Won't Work - Doesn't Receive IP Address
Jan 26, 2011I'm trying to configure Cisco CISCO881G-K9 3G router to connect to mobile network without success. The cellular interface gets up but it doesn't receive IP address. It seems that profile isn't activated and it should've been.
I've attached running config and some other information gathered from router.

Oct 31, 2012I have my Dell Laptop with model 14R5420, service tag <Admin Note:service tag removed per privacy policy~RK>. It runs normally on Win 7. However, when I upgrage to Win 8, the wireless card can not receive the driver. I list below what I did.
- Download all drivers for my laptop which compatible Win 8 64 bit by using my service tag .
- Install Win 8 (format disk label C)
- Run Bios Driver to flash BIOS
- Set up all other downloaded drivers
All devices work perfectly except the wireless card. In Device Manager, there is still an unrecognized device name Network Device. I know that is the wireless card.If I run my backup to Win 7, everything is normal.

Jun 18, 2011I have a Netgear WNR3500L with a Comcast cable modem. The internet was running slow so I rebooted everything. After that I could not see the internet. I tried to reset the Netgear Router, shut down and restart and still the same problem. I plugged the computer directly into the cable modem and everthing works just fine. I'm guessing something happened to the Netgear router but I don't know if it is a setting or something happened to the router itself. The router is about a year old. I can use the default 192.168.1.1 to get into the router but I'm not sure what settings I should try to change.

When PC was first attached to network, it could not ping gateway(switch). Turns out it was broadcasting for the gateway's MAC address, but never got a response. Tonnes of testing later, if I just change one number on the MAC address of the adapter, it receives a reply from the switch and can ping the gateway.
Why doesn't the native MAC address work?
Update: Just the vendor portion is the determining factor. As long as it starts with 2C-59-E5, it will not work. 2C-58-E5 will.
Update 2: Pinging anything in the same subnet works, just pinging the gateway interface of the switch doesn't happen. Tried on multiple drops, and there are other devices on those drops.

Mar 5, 2011I have a linksys wrt54gs wireless router (working fine since last 3 years) which connects to the internet fine if there is no password set. However if i set WEP password to protect the wireless connection, i am not able to connect to the wireless connection. Everytime i enter the passphrase, when trying to connect to the wireless network, it refuses to accept the password. I have tried this with 2 laptops (both running windows 7) and both have same issue.

May 21, 2012I'm using an nvidia ethernet card that's in my mobo. Yesterday I had internet without any problems but this morning when I turned my computer on, the light on it wasn't blinking. Tried turning power on/off, unplugging and pluhging back but still no solution.Checked Device Manager and there is no (!) or (?) next to the device name. Also it says device is working properly. Even did the "scan for hardware changes" and again it shows that device is working properly.. But that's not all! The weirdest thing here is that my 3 neighbours who are from the same ISP have the exact same problem. We're connectrd to 1 box that is outside. The other part of the village that is on the same ISP has no such problems. So I'm wondering if it's a local corrupt cable problem or our cards have fried. I believe we use fiber optic cables.
