Computer Does Not Receive Packets

Jun 6, 2011

I have connected the computer to the internet a multitude of ways, and no matter how i do it, it always can not receive packets. It is sending packets though.I have tried connecting it directly to the modem, with different wires, through a router, through a network card... I'm pretty much at a loss, im not an expert by any means but im not computer illiterate either. Chances are this is a simple fix... My other computer (the one im on) works fine with both cords, connected directly, and through the router to the modem.

Dell :: Inspiron Mini 1011 Won't Receive Enough Packets To Connect To Internet

I have a Dell Insipron Mini 1011 and recently I haven't been able to connect to the internet. The network connection says it's connect to linksys, but it sends out more packets than it receives. What can I do to get it to receive more packets? Could it be my area that's causing it not to connect?

Wireless Internet Connects But Doesn't Transfer Packets

Nov 30, 2011

As the topic states, the wireless card finds the signal without issues, but then does not transfer any packets after it connects. Only one computer is having this issue, all others connect perfectly fine. Also, there was no significant change to the computer recently, the problem seems to have sprung about randomly.

Able To Send Packets But Not Receive Through Router

Apr 23, 2012

At random times, my internet will "drop" connection and will not download any packets, but I am still able to send packets. My Local Area Connection icon continues to say I am connected, my modem is fully functional, and my cables are good. I can get my internet back up and running for 10 minutes or so by disable and re-enabling my Network Connection. If I simply try the "repair", it gives me an error at the "Refreshing IP" step.I have done a full system scan for viruses and I am clean. My drivers are fully updated, I have disabled my firewalls, and still no luck. During the times when it is down, I can successfully ping my modem through CMD, but I get the time-out error if I ping a site, my default gateway, the DHCP Server, or the DMS Servers.I have made no changes to any major settings on my computer, nor has there been any recent additions/removals of any software.

Nortel 5520 - Specific MAC Address Doesn't Receive ARP Reply From Switch

May 26, 2013

Switch is a Nortel 5520

PC is Windows 7, with Intel 82579LM adapter

When PC was first attached to network, it could not ping gateway(switch). Turns out it was broadcasting for the gateway's MAC address, but never got a response. Tonnes of testing later, if I just change one number on the MAC address of the adapter, it receives a reply from the switch and can ping the gateway.

Why doesn't the native MAC address work?

Update: Just the vendor portion is the determining factor. As long as it starts with 2C-59-E5, it will not work. 2C-58-E5 will.

Update 2: Pinging anything in the same subnet works, just pinging the gateway interface of the switch doesn't happen. Tried on multiple drops, and there are other devices on those drops.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 Doesn't Automatically Connect To Internet On Computer Start-up

Aug 12, 2012

My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Dropping Packets While Gaming On Computer

Mar 27, 2012

I bought a DIR-655 a less than a year ago on amazon, and it was working great up until about 4 weeks ago. Ive noticed that it has been dropping alot of packets while I am gaming on my computer. I would run about 95-98 ping usually and now it jitters every 5-10 mins or so from 95-98 to up to 500. It is really troublesome during games and I dont know what to do. Ive tried disabling QoS and still nothing. I run on wireless G and N with auto 20/40 mhz. Standard WPA(personal) and it was running absolutely great until now. I know its the wireless because I have hardwired it into my laptop, both from the router and just the modem itself with no problems whatsoever. I dont know what to do about it.

Cisco :: PE Sends The RD When Advertises A Route Via BGP?

Nov 6, 2012

I know RD is used to make an IPv4 address unique in an MPLS VPN system.I don't understand why a PE sends the RD when advertises a route via BGP.I thought RD were only local significant. But I made a packet capture and the RD is actually sended inside the MP_REACH_NRLI attribute:

(from packet capture)
Label Stack=19 (bottom) RD=12:1, IPv4=172.16.22.0/24
MP Reach NLRI Route Distinguisher: 12:1

Why the RD is sent? I suppose that the PE receiving the update checks the Route Target Extended Community to know to which VRF associate the update and not the RD.I made a test between PE1 with RD 12:1 and PE2 with RD 13:1 and there was full routes exchanges, the same when both PEs were using the same RD(all this configured in the correct VRFs). The only difference is that PE2 now shows in their corresponding VRF BPG table "Route Distinguisher 13:1".

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst Express 520 Sends TCP RST

Aug 5, 2012

I have one out of three Catalyst Express 520's I cannot connect to with Cisco Configuration Assistant or with a browser. I've used Wireshark to capture the problem, and it sends a TCP RST packet immediately upon any such connection attempt.

As these devices do not have a console port, how can I gain access to the device? We'd like to upgrade them but cannot pull the existing config.

Since these 520's don't support or are not configured for telnet/ssh and the only connection I can make is with a broswer and CCA, I'm wondering if there is a way to get the config into a text file as normally done.

D-Link DCS-930L :: Camera Sends LOTS Of Data Without Any Acitivty?

Nov 20, 2012

My camera uses Lots of data without anyone viewing the camera.I have it connected to a mobile data limited subscription with 2Gb of transfer each month. When traffic goes over it will limit bandwidth to 64 kbit/s.

After I connected the camera my data usage rise very high and just in a day or two the 2Gb limit was reached. The speed was then decreased to 64 kbit/s. And the next 3 weeks until my limit was reset the total data usage was up to 4Gb.That means that in 3 weeks 2Gb data was sent from the camera in only 64 kbit/s.How could this be?I have motion detection on that will email me images, that gives me some false positives some days with sun and shadows. But that should add up to a few Mb as maximum for a month.

I also have remote power on/off on this specific camera. I have now turned it off and the sent data from my modem has stopped.WHERE does the D-link camera stream live to? It's password protected and no one except me has the password.I can't see open sessions in my router (Dovado 4GR) and my mobile broadband supplier (Telenor) can not see where the data is transferred. But the camera is sending data somewhere, WHY? and how can I turn that off?

Windows 7 Can't Receive Internet Network Traffic - Gateway Accessible

Aug 18, 2012

I just got my dad's old notebook (VAIO VPC F223FB) which is better than my older one. So, I did a backup and then managed to clean install a Windows 7 Professional x64.At first I had a problem with the drivers, because the internet wasn't connecting and the USB ports weren't detecting my External Drive. So, I tested other USB port and got it. Installed the drivers and I could connect to the wireless network. But it doesn't detect the ethernet cable! And I want it detecting because then it's faster. I already tried downloading the Ethernet Controller driver. At first, I downloaded through Sony's support site but it didn't recognize the driver. Now, it recognizes but still doesn't connect it. And when I tried Solving Connection Problems, it said the network gateway was accessible but Windows can't receive Internet network traffic.
