Windows 7 Can't Receive Internet Network Traffic - Gateway Accessible

Aug 18, 2012

I just got my dad's old notebook (VAIO VPC F223FB) which is better than my older one. So, I did a backup and then managed to clean install a Windows 7 Professional x64.At first I had a problem with the drivers, because the internet wasn't connecting and the USB ports weren't detecting my External Drive. So, I tested other USB port and got it. Installed the drivers and I could connect to the wireless network. But it doesn't detect the ethernet cable! And I want it detecting because then it's faster. I already tried downloading the Ethernet Controller driver. At first, I downloaded through Sony's support site but it didn't recognize the driver. Now, it recognizes but still doesn't connect it. And when I tried Solving Connection Problems, it said the network gateway was accessible but Windows can't receive Internet network traffic.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Internet Accessible But No Network Access

Mar 4, 2011

Internet access is working fine, however I cannot get my computers to work on the network therefore cant share any files or play any network games.  The router is set up as DHCP server therefore IPs are automatically assigned, this is setup on the PCs and the router.  The work group is also set.  Exactly same settings basically as my old router which worked fine but wont on this one!  I have 3 wired PCs and a wireless laptop.  2 PCs are windows XP the other is Windows 7 and the laptop is windows 7.  The wireless win7 laptop will recognize my win7 wired PC and vice versa and can share everything without problems, but they wont have anything to do with the wired winxp PCs, on top of that the 2 winxp wont recognize each other either so don't think its anything platform specific. I have also tried setting up static IPs for each computer - still no joy. This is a brand new D-Link DIR-655 Rev B1 firmware 2.00

Cisco Infrastructure :: Route Internet Traffic To Different Gateway Using 3560G Switch

May 24, 2011

My issue: I have installed a firewall within my network.  Currently all my clients default gateway defaults to GW: I would like all my internet traffic to route to the firewall ip  My Primary switch ip is, which is a 3560G running 12.2(25)SEE2 IPBASE-M.
My main problem is, I do not have access to the gateway, so I am trying to route internet traffic from within my switch to the firewall.  I have already tried Route-Map, but seems this version of the OS does not support. I have already tried Policy-Map, but same as above. I have also tried IP ROUT command, but it did not work either.
And remember, I would like to perform the routing from the switch, because I do not have access to the default gateway which is a router to perform forward internet traffic to the firewall.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2911 Cannot Send Or Receive Traffic

Feb 21, 2013

’m somewhat new to Cisco routers this is my first attempt at getting one to work. I work in an environment with multiple locations, most are using the Cisco Model: 2911/K9 or the Model: 2921/K9 routers running IOS Version 15.0.We just added a new small office and all I had in the way of a router was a Cisco C1841-IPBASE-M router, running IOS Version 12.4.When setting up the C1841 I kept the configuration pretty much the same as the others allowing for the differences in the OS. I can remote into the 0/0 (outside port) from over the network, I can ping to that port without fail, but I can’t send or receive traffic from the 0/1 (inside port).

Cisco Application :: WS-X6066-SLB-APC / CSM - Server Will Suddenly Not Receive Any Traffic For 5 Minutes

Sep 10, 2012

A company I work for has a number of CSM modules (WS-X6066-SLB-APC) installed in 6513 chasis switches. The CSM modules are running version 4.2(14)These CSM modules are configured to load-balance a number of vservers via serverfarms, each serverfarm containing multiple real servers.
Here is some example configuration:
vserver SITE
  virtual tcp www
  serverfarm SERVERFARM
  persistent rebalance

The company is facing a problem with what seems to be related to return code checking. Every once in a while a server will suddenly not receive any traffic for 5 minutes. This always occurs right after the server has sent a HTTP 503 return code. However we cannot see in the CSM logs that the CSM module has actually disabled the real server. For other serverfarms which are running regular HTTP and/or ICMP health checks to real servers we can clearly see in the CSM logs when a real server has been temporarily disabled due to health check failures.
The return code checking is set to disable a real server for 300 seconds after the CSM has received five HTTP 503 responses from the real server. If we check the real server log however we cannot find more than that single 503 return code right before the server stops seeing any incoming traffic unless we move back at least hours in time.I have tried to figure out what time frame those 5 return codes must be received within for them to count towards the maximum allowed return codes, but nowhere in no documentation can I find any information about this time frame. For all I know the CSM could keep track of every incoming 503 forever, until the maximum of five 503's is reached, and then the server is disabled for 300 seconds.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Machine Can't Send Or Receive Any Traffic To WAN Side

Aug 22, 2011

I have a RV220W (running fw version that i am trying to configure for a client.  They are set up on Comcast with 13 available IP's.  I should note that this netowrk is now currently running without issue using a Cisco Pix 506e.  Unfortunately, the Pix is almost impossible to configure using the GUI now as I have to load a 4-year old version of Java now just to get the PDM to load. But I digress.I've set up the RV using the identical settings as the Pix on bth the LAN and WAN side.  When I do, computers on the LAN side can all reach the Internet ok.  However, once I enable one-to-one NAT for an internal server, that machine can't send or receive ANY traffic to the WAN side.  I've even tried setting access rules enabling ANY traffic in both directions, and that has no effect.  Either I'm missing something, or this is just one more bug in this product.
Even though it was a bit of a step down going from the Pix to the RV220W, it was done for the ease of setting up VPN's as I was ready to purchase a second one for a new satellite office opening in a few weeks.  It looks like we will be switching vendors on the router side as my faith in Cisco is waning at this point.

Sharing :: Mapped Drive On Windows NT 2000 Server Not Accessible?

Mar 26, 2012

I have a domain with a domain controller Server 2003. I have a backup dc running an application with server 2008. The shared folder I am trying to access is on an nt server 2000. We have had a mapped drive "I:" and have used it for years. Our copier also scans to a shared folder on the server 2000 machine. All of the desktop systems are xp sp3 with one W7 machine. A couple of weeks ago when user attempted to access the shared/mapped drive, an error would occur that "the drive was in use and they could not be logged on". Sometimes the error would say "you don't have permission to access the drive." Mind you no settings have been changed on the network. When either of these errors would occur it would occur for everyone but if I rebooted the server everyone could connect again. The same errors would occur the next day or 6 - 8 hour later. Now the error has occured "Drive is already in use and you cannot be logged in" (I have tried drive Z as well the drive is not in use) and restarting the serever no longer works. No one can access the shared drive. I have unmapped the drive on my system and have attempted to reconnect, I enter the path and check reconnect at logon and it asks for a password. I enter the administrator password (which is what I always used) and it just pops right back up asking for a password as if I entered nothing. I can ping the server with the shared folder and even logon remotely so I know it is not a physical disconnect. I am not sure what changed and have followed many suggestions found to no avail. We cannot access the shares or scan.

Turn A Wifi Connection Into The Network's Internet Gateway?

Jan 25, 2013

Anyway, a neighbour is letting us share their broadband by way of a wifi connection (on a very long USB lead into the front garden...) but this only works on one PC.The PC is right next to the Orange router (Brightbox) but so far I've failed to do anything like bridge the connections from wifi to ethernet to the router and beyond. Should I persevere with this? I don't understand how this would work in terms of DHCP and routing IP traffic.I'm prepared to buy new kit if necessary (but not much). Most of my equipment is wifi enabled but due to the signal strength of my neighbour's wifi you have to be on the front lawn to get a signal.

Home Network :: No Internet Access Across PPTP / Default Gateway?

Jun 6, 2012

I am trying to set up a PPTP VPN connection which also provides internet access. I have the following configuration. The router named "Router1" connects 2 computers PC1 and PC2 on the LAN side with a network address of It is a PPTP server and a DHCP server. It gives IP addresses to PC1 and PC2. It has a static address of on the LAN side and a static address of on the WAN Side. PC3 has a static address of and is connected to the WAN port of Router1. "Router2" is connected to the LAN side of Router1 and it has a static IP of Router2 is connected to the internet and provides internet connection to PC1 and PC2. PC1 and PC2 connects fine to the internet and can see each other. However, PC3 cannot connect to the internet even though it is connected to Router1 by PPTP VPN connection. PC3 can see PC1, PC2, Router1 and Router2 but it cannot connect to the internet because Router1 does not give it the default gateway( to connect it.

When PC3 connects via PPTP, It receives a correct IP address(, correct DNS addresses but the ip4 default gateway field is left blank, and the DHCP option is not enabled on connection properties of PC3. Router1 is a DD-WRT firmware router (DLink Dir 400) and has PPTP server enabled as a service. How do I get Router 1 to give PC3 a default gateway IP? And how do I forward all outgoing packets from Router 1 to Router 2? I do not need portforwarding for some ports, I need full access to the internet from PC3 though the PPTP connection via Router2

Home Network :: Can Ping Gateway But Not Router And Slow Internet

Feb 21, 2011

A while ago internet access was slowed right down for an hour or so. I have a phone line that comes into the house and then into gateway ( then ethernet from that to linksys wifi router ( So I did the following ping and repeated what you see below a few times to see that these results were broadly consistent, which was the case. One other person is connected to linksys via ethernet cord and they might have been on at the time. Questions are.... are these results consistent with contention caused by other user on the linksys? and why can I ping gateway but not the router? That makes no sense to me! I am not annoyed with the other person if he is hogging the network...I like him. I just wonder whats going on. When the internet works results from pinging are all as one would expect

Home Network Share Not Accessible But Other One Is

Mar 26, 2011

I have a fairly simple wireless home network. My main desktop machine is running XP Pro, and our family laptop is running XP Home. The laptop shares the My Documents folder for 2 of the 3 profiles. One of them works as it should. It is visible and accessible on the main desktop machine, but the other share is visible but NOT accessible. I get the following error message when I try to explore it from the main desktop machine:

<the share name> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Access is denied.

I'm not sure when this started, but remember that the other folder being shared is working just fine. I've double and triple checked the settings, share names, and basically anything I could possibly mistype. I've restarted both PCs, and refreshed the network explorer via both the file explorer and My Computer dialog. The My Computer dialog refresh the shares for some reason that the explorer wouldn't, but I'm still denied access to that one share on the laptop.

Shared Files Not Accessible On Network

Jan 19, 2011

I have a router-based home network in which the desktop running XP media center is connected by cable to the router. There are 2 wireless laptops, one running XP home and the other Windows 7.The laptops can talk to each other, and the desktop can talk to the laptops. But I cannot access the desktop from the laptops. I can see the (shared) folders, but when I click on one I get the message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource..Not enough server storage is available to process this command." One solution suggested in several places is to change the IRPStackSize to 15. However, if I start the desktop in safe mode with networking, I can access the files.I can also access the machine using remote desktop. One extra frustration is that this is a problem that has happened relatively recently. It used to work OK.

Internet Accessible But Unable To Browse Anything

Apr 19, 2012

My pc (windows7) will say its connected.. It even says internet access.. But when I click in the Internet?THE WEB PAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE. It says the DNS lookup failed. But the thing is... all my friends bring their laptops over (Mac & Pc) and try work fine. Even my phone catches the wifi perfectly in my house. I started to think maybe it was the laptop but the laptop word great on wifi at my job, my friends house, and pretty much anywhere with wifi but my house. I have wifi through bright house and they came to my house one day but they ended up not doing anything because they can only make sure there device (router) works perfectly. Ok.. So I took the laptop to best buy's geek squad and the guy "reseted my network card" & told me it should e fine when I got home.. Nope. Didn't work. I have spent hours looking trough the Internet trying things that people recommended I do. (start, run, cmd) I've tried it all. It just won't work. I really need this laptop to work at home because I do a lot of work from the pc. I hope somebody on here could point me into the right direction before I give up & toss this laptop in the shed and be forced to purchase a new one.

E3000 - Accessible Network Devices Cannot Be Seen In List Of Computer

Mar 1, 2012

I recently change routers to a Linksys E3000 wireless router from a Uverese 2wire residential gateway and all worked well for a short time nothing changed however when I go to view network devices from Win7,Vista or XP computers the network devices are no longer there. when I shut down and reboot the router and switches I still cannot see these devices, however when I hook up my old 2wire router I see my devices again. Even when I reconnect to the E3000 all the devices can be viewed for a few hours. Changing routers resets something but maybe overloads the linksys E3000 after a few hours? maybe this E3000 is just defective?

When I view a network map in Network & Internet all the devices appear in the map The configuration is Linksys E3000 router with two (2) 8 port Trendnet gigabyte switches and One (1) 8 port Trendnet Poe 10/100 switch. They are chained router to 8 port gig to 8 port gig to 8 port Poe 10/100. Prior to this I had the router to each switch separately - - this does not seem to matter works the same either way

Devices attached - Network printer,XP desktop, Vista Desktop, NAS, WDTVlive media player, Roku, Home automation controller, IP touch screen for the automation, security DVR (wireless devices are all ok Win7 laptop, Vista laptop, Ipad)seldom are more than 3 devices being used at one time light traffic.)
