ASUS RT-AC66R Remote Web Access?

Oct 12, 2012

I've set up a new Server 2012 machine, and everything is going well except I can't remote web access to work.I have the ASUS RT-AC66R router (same as the RT-AC66U).First, automatic setup in Server 2012 Essentials fails. Doesn't surprise me as throughout the history of WHS it never worked right either But in the past I've always been able to set the route up manually in the router, and it was fine.

I've followed the MS instructions, routing port 443 to the servers static IP address. Still doesn't work.I know the server is capable because if I open a browser and hit it with the local NAT address of the server, remote access comes up fine.I also tried the direct public IP of my router, bypassing DNS, in case it was a host-name problem. Did not work.

ASUS RT-AC66R - AP Smart Phone With Tether

Oct 28, 2012

My power is inevitably going out tonight.I have a generator, but the Cable Companies UPS's drop after 4 hours (it's been that way every single outage so far). So, I'll have to Tether.

My ASUS RT-AC66R can run in AP mode. Can I enable AP mode, have it connect to the Phone, and then the Asus feeds all my gear?If so, will it be wireless only or will it also bind to the Lan.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 / Remote Desktop Access With Mac And Asus Transformer Prime?

Jul 31, 2011

I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.

Worse Signal On ASUS RT-N66U Than ASUS E1000

Oct 5, 2012

I recently moved into a larger 2 story house, and for the first few months I was using a Linksys E1000 I've had for about 2 years now. It's a fine single band router, but the people upstairs and the xbox/PS3 in the living room didnt have the strongest connection.

I shopped around and finally got a ASUS RT-N66U for a really good, strong dual band router that would supposedly give better range and performance than my old E1000.

Unfortunately, since I got it everyone is having issues they never had before, namely:Signal dropping all around the house and having to search for the network much slower performance than before the xbox/PS3 cant hold a stable connection even for a few minutes now, when before you could watch Netflix HD programs easily

I've upgraded the Firmware to 3.0.0.3.178 since I heard earlier firmwares had issues, but other than that and opening my ports for qTorrent it is relatively stock settings.

Asus N80Vm - Unable To Access A Certain Website?

Jun 22, 2011

There is a website I use, and when I was on it today I noticed that it was refreshing very slowly. Suddenly it stopped refreshing and gave me the "cannot connect" error screen. I waited all day and finally I thought to check via proxy. When I use a proxy, it works.

Here is what I have tried so far:

- used proxy (worked)

- pinged the site (worked)

- checked to make sure I'm not banned (I'm not)

- rebooted and started in safe mode with networking. Still could not access the site.

Computer Specs:
Asus N80Vm

Can't Remotely Access Asus RT-N56U Router Even After Configuration

Nov 14, 2011

We have an Asus RT-N56U router at home, which is connected directly to a cable modem. I am attempting to remotely access the router's interface, and am having trouble doing so even after configuring it properly. I configured the router's firewall to allow remote access, using port 8080. I also set up DDNS, although I tried connecting using both the IP and the DDNS name.I also set the router to respond to pings, and I am able to successfully ping the router (from a remote location) using both the DDNS name and the public IP. But when attempting to connect using my browser, it doesn't work. I have tried multiple browsers, multiple remote locations, and disabling my computer's firewall, all with no success.

ASUS Netbook Cannot Connect To Wireless Networks - Limited Access

Oct 19, 2012

I have: ASUS Netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

As of last night, I cannot connect to any of the wireless networks I use every day (my personal home network or my school's WPA2).

The signal strength is very good, but it says "Limited Access" next to the network name. Apparently "Limited" means "No" because I am not connected. Here's what happened:Lavasoft Ad-Aware was blocking a site that I needed to access. I haven't used Ad-Aware in months, and it did not even appear to be running. So uninstalled it with Add/Remove programs in the control panel. BUT, mid-way through the uninstallation, I got a blue screen and my computer restarted. When my computer booted back up, I could no longer connect to my home's wireless. I'm at school now and I cannot connect here either. Ad-aware is gone from the add/remove programs list, but there is still an Ad-Aware folder in Program Files. The folder still has a bunch of stuff in it, including adaware.exe. I dont see an uninstaller (but i havent really investigated that yet). so now i can't connect to any network. Here's What I've TriedRan troubleshooter. Useless. Turned off my netbook's wireless. turned it back on. Device manager says my Network Adapters are working fine. No yellow or red icons next to them. also tried resetting stuff with the command prompt. something about winsock and netsh. I don't know what I was doing though. just following instructions from other people on yahoo answers when i googled the problem.

ASUS RTN66U - Access Internet Through Network Machine With Dongle?

Oct 31, 2012

I have an ASUS RTN66U running Tomato firmware.I have temporary (a month or so) Internet access via a Huawei E3131 3G USB dongle. I am posting this question using said Internet access.

I would like other machines on my network to be able to access the Internet in the usual fashion. That is, through my ASUS router. My initial thought was to plug the dongle into the router and configure it to connect. However, it seems tomato does not support my dongle because I get a message to that effect in the log.

So my next thought was to "point" my router at my Windows machine which has the dongle plugged into it. Thus, any machine connecting to the router would then route through my Windows machine to the Internet.

Asus RT-N12B1 / Port Forwarding Broken With Installation Of Access Point?

Mar 3, 2012

I recently purchased an Asus RT-N12B1. It has an external hardware switch which allows the router to operate in different modes. I put in access point mode. Then I connected an ethernet cable from a LAN port on my Verizon supplied Actiontec MI424WR-GEN2 E router to a LAN port on the access point and turned off the wireless in the router.

I have dynamic DNS setup and port forwarding setup in the router to forward from port 50000 to 192.168.1.2:22 which is a server plugged into a LAN port on the router. This is no longer working since adding the AP and disabling wireless on the primary router. how to debug?

No Login Pop-up For Remote Access In Windows 7 64-bit?

May 28, 2011

I work from a remote location, and use a VPN to access files on the company server. I have no problem logging into the VPN, but when using Windows 7 64-bit, I am denied access to the specific folder containing the files I need, even though I can see and open other folders on the same server.

However, if I connect from an old laptop running Windows 2000, I get a login pop-up when I click on the desired folder and after entering my username (including the remote domain name) and password I can access the files. In the newer OS, I just get a stock "access denied" message, with no option to log in. Specifically, in W7 the message is "You do not have permission to access this folder", which is nonsense.

Our IT department is baffled. How to set up W7 so it will allow me to log into the protected folder in the same way I can do it in W2K? Once logged in to the VPN itself, I use the 'run' command with the remote IP address to bring up the folders in a normal Explorer window.
