Aug 10, 2011I did a clean install on acer extensa e261 with xp pro. i had to download the audi, vga and lan drivers from acer website. audi and vga is good but the lan driver has no setup or .exe file.

Jul 26, 2011I am working on a Drupal site which is on a virtual server (the way it's been explained to me). I've been told I need to work with it through webdev. So I can copy a file off the server and onto my local machine. I make my edits and then try to upload it to the server. I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. I have tried shutting down my code editor, opening and closing the connection, tried different methods of reaching the server (Cyberduck and through Window's map network feature) to no avail. What can I do?

Jul 5, 2011recently i was trying to share files between two computers using a networking switch.(windows xp) I tried using network setup wizard on the host computer it only gave me two drive options f drive and the floppy disc drive. so i selected f drive to copy files. I inserted a cd and clicked next but nothing happened. i tried clicking format button and it asked me to 'insert a cd to f drive' so I avoided the format button.My computer has a backup system which someone installed and im not too sure about it so I was wondering if f drive was referring to the backup system (sort of looks like an external hard drive with lights on it connected to modem) or maybe referring to usb port. I did not try using my usb yet. The second pc I noticed did not have network setup wizard on control panel and was not sure if i needed it. Feb 2, 2012The acer X3400 refurb that I purchased always seemed to have a flaky network connection. Then, I think, it's power strip got turned off while it was running and it no longer connected to any network. The emachine had trouble running from a cold start and I got a pink screen several times, once when loading the nVidia chipset driver from Acer. That's when I shut the ethernet controller off in bios. (From a restart, press Delete during boot, Select Integrated Peripherals, select Onboard Lan Controller, press enter, select Disabled.) This corrected all boot issues so far. Next, I went to Amazon and bought "USB 2.0 to Ethernet Converter" for $8.87. (I know this is a USB2 10/100 bps RJ45 adapter, but reviews do say the Windows 7 drivers are embedded. Also, the emachine's got a couple free USB slots, hehe...feel free to get a better USB network device as needed.) I will report on the outcome of this device, but so far, multiple reboots of the emachine have been flawless. I can't say for sure that there is an an electrical problem with the 9200 nvidia ethernet controller...it's just my opinion. (Love that you loaded Knoppix, that sh$% rocks! Reminds me of using HP-UX, except, for any proc:>), go linux!)

Nov 15, 2012I am at my friend's house and she cannot connect her Acer laptop to the her own wifi (netgear router). Her iPad and my laptop (lenovo) both can connect to the wifi. This would lead me to believe that the issue is with her computer but her computer can connect to other wifis in the area...just not her own. I am not sure what is causing this...it may be that program "Acer eNet Management" but that still doesn't explain why she can connect to other wifis and not her own. Is there maybe a compatability issue with netgear and her wifi card?

I have a D-link DIR-825 router and it has worked every time except today. I havent used my Netbook very much at home though, maybe a few times a year as I usually take it with me on trips.
I attempted to narrow down the problem. I called D-link as my router was still under warranty. They advised clearing all my old connections and rebooting but I got the same problem. I told them my Sony PS3 works, so they suggested I contact Acer as they think it is not the router. My direct hardwire connection also works.
I then took my Netbook to Best Buy and it worked there. The guy said they can pay a visit to my house as it is probably interference of some sort. This will cost $100. Why would my PS3 work if it was interference? Maybe it�s the proximity of my Netbook to something, but I tried it near my PS3 and it still had the same problem.
Id rather try to solve the problem myself first. I havent changed anything except a modem and Windows 7 updates.
