MS Access Databases - File Location Did Not Exist And My Whole Database Disappeared?

Jul 18, 2012

Our company has a Server in the office to which we all map network drives. This server is backed up to a Cloud Server (egnyte.com). Whenever I am working on a database on the mapped network drive, it freezes up after 5-10 minutes with the alert "Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database, and then open it again."

This problem does not occur with any other Office Products, only Access. It happens to all databases on the server and to all users.

It does not do this when the file is saved on my desktop or when I am working on it directly through the cloud server. When working on the cloud server, however, I went to Compact and Repair my database and a window came up saying the file location did not exist and my whole database disappeared. It was already saved in the file location, I was just compacting and repairing.

Is there some problem with using a local server that backs up to a cloud that makes it lose connectivity every few minutes? Why is this only happening with Access?

Can't Enable File And Printer Sharing Across Two Networks At Home

Sep 1, 2011

My home network starts from the ISP/Cable modem to a Belkin wireless router.

A WIN XP box connects via ethernet cable in that room. A second WIN XP box connects via wireless in the next room. A Third box Win7 laptop connects via wireless in another room.

All machines have Internet Web browsing working fine, all machines can see each others shared files and printers across the home network.

Here's where I get creative... I added a fourth box WIN XP via ethernet (LAN to LAN) to the Win7 Laptop. It shows as an unidentified network of type Public in Network and Sharing.

Using Shared Internet Connections on the Win7 laptop, the fourth WIN XP now also has Web browsing working just fine across the LAN to the laptop over the wireless and out to the world.

The Win7 Laptop can see shared files and printers on either side of its networks (fourth WIN XP on the LAN side, and first and second WIN XP on the wireless side), and they can see its shared files and printers.

However, the fourth WIN XP on the LAN network won't see the first and second WIN XP on the wireless side. File and printer sharing doesn't see to make the jump across the Laptop Win7 in the middle.

How do I bridge the two networks for file and printer sharing ??

As it will contain our personal docs/photos etc and I would hate to use them.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Setup Two Wireless Networks On One Comcast Cable Modem?

Apr 7, 2013

We have kids in the house and I'd like to limit their internet access to certain times of the day but because of the great amount of devices they use (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) the only way I could think of doing that easily was to set up two wireless networks: one that the adults could use 24/7 and the other that the kids could access during certain set hours.

Here's the equipment I'm working with:

DLink DIR 615 wireless router
DLink DIR 515 wireless router
Motorola Surfboard cable modem S85101U

I plugged the DLink 615 in, set it up for DHCP client and plugged it into the cable modem. I lef the default 192.168.0.1 IP address for the device. On that router, I also reserved the 192.168.0.199 IP address and assigned it to the DLink 515.I also gave the DLink 515 device the IP 192.168.1.1 so I could administer it.I set the DLink 515 to static IP and made the IP 192.168.0.199 and the default gateway 192.168.0.1.I plugged the DLink 515 into one of the LAN ports in the DLink 615.I set a schedule on the DLink 615 to shut down internet access to the DLink 515 at a certain hour and turn it back on at another time.Everything seems to work ok, but at least once a day we have to unplug and plug the routers to reset them.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Setup VRF For Guest Networks?

Dec 10, 2012

I am trying to set up a vrf for guest networks and am having issues on one of the switches.A quick overview (since I dont really know what i am doing ) we have two sites that are connected via lanex. each site has a 3750. The only internet connectivity is the remote site (so all the users at the local site route out through the remote site to get to the internet)I need to make a guest network at the local site using our current infrastructure but it cannot have any access to our network resources.

I have created a vlan here (vl166) and on the remote switch

ip vrf TRAINING
didnt do any route distribution
then added "ip vrf forwarding TRAINTING" and readded the ip to the vlan interface
gave it an ip address of 172.16.166.1

did the exact same thing on the remote switch but with interface address of .2

enabled ospf on both switches.... router ospf 3 vrf TRAINING

I cant ping from one interface to the other... when I try pinging from the remote switch I get :

CISCO3750MCI-1#ping vrf TRAINING 172.16.166.1
% VRF does not have a usable source address
 CISCO3750MCI-1#show ip vrf interfaces TRAINING
Interface              IP-Address      VRF                              Protocol
Vl16                   172.16.16.2     TRAINING                        down

I cant see why the interface is down. Nothing in the logs (even when I do no shut... it just accepts the command but doesnt come up)

Cannot Access File Because Another Process Has Locked Portion Of File

I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. Wireless Network Not Listed In Available Networks

Jul 4, 2011

I recently bought a Medialink Wireless N router and configured it as per the instructions. I have a desktop computer connected to the router now and it works great with a wired internet connection. However when I try to connect to the wireless network with my laptop, the network does not appear in the available list of networks. The broadcsting SSID feature for the router has been enabled. I am not able to figure out if it is a problem with the wireless network or my laptop, because my laptop has been acting weird lately. Is there a way to test that the wireless adapter on my laptop is working fine. I am able to see other wireless networks on the list. How do I know for sure that my wireless network is set up right?

Connecting To Isolated Networks With The Same Network Id

Nov 24, 2011

Basically, the issue I am having is we have a class b network ID of 172.16. We had a new phone system installed last year which needed to be on an isolated network as our switches do not have QoS on them. Plus they are quite bad...

Some genius decided to use the same network ID on the new phone system as our current network but they are totally isolated networks.

This is where my laziness comes into play... We use a laptop connected to the phone system's network to connect to configure the phones etc but I would like to do this at my desk. So what I have done is configured a wireless access point on the phone systems network so I can connect to it on my laptop to theoretically make changes to the phone system on my PC, but also staying connected to our network for obvious reasons... I do have some networking knowledge, and I am assuming the routes are going to be completely wrong because of the same network ID issue not allowing me to connect to the phone system on my laptop. But I am not sure if I can add a static route to resolve this.

Interface List
0x1 ........................... MS TCP Loopback interface
0x2 ...00 50 56 c0 00 08 ...... VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet8

Sharing :: How To Setup File Sharing

Jul 5, 2011

recently i was trying to share files between two computers using a networking switch.(windows xp) I tried using network setup wizard on the host computer it only gave me two drive options f drive and the floppy disc drive. so i selected f drive to copy files. I inserted a cd and clicked next but nothing happened. i tried clicking format button and it asked me to 'insert a cd to f drive' so I avoided the format button. My computer has a backup system which someone installed and im not too sure about it so I was wondering if f drive was referring to the backup system (sort of looks like an external hard drive with lights on it connected to modem) or maybe referring to usb port. I did not try using my usb yet. The second pc I noticed did not have network setup wizard on control panel and was not sure if i needed it. I heard that a router has a firewall and is more safer than using a networking switch. at this stage i dont need internet connection for the second pc
