We have 36 cctv cameras slowing down our oracle network pc's all in same subnet. I want to remove the dvr's of cctv to a separate network to improve performance. How to accomplish that with a Rv042 linksys router? Or is there any other better way around. 5 Users access the cctv cameras all the time.

NETWORK 1:EOC connection fro ISP going into a router (not the RV042) with a static WAN address from ISP. This router is hooked up to a switch that all the computers are connected to. All the computers on this network are using 192.168.1.x addresses. Most of these addresses are static, but the router is running DHCP in case we hook up temporary computers like laptops or client machines to this network.
NETWORK 2:DSL connection going into a router (not the RV042) with a static block of IPs from ISP. (8 IPs, 5 usable for the WAN interface, 1 static IP is being used for WAN interface). This router has a VPN connection set up for remote access to the linux machines on this network. This router is running DHCP on the LAN interface for this network with addresses 172.16.1.x. All the computers on this network are tied together with another switch, completely seperate from the 192.168.1.x network switch.
PROBLEM:We needed computers on the 192 network to be able to access computers on the 172 network. Someone decided to just run a cat 5 cable from the 192 switch to the 172 switch (not the routers, the switches). This "worked" - badly. Appearently there is a DHCP conflict (or something else going on) that was causing the router on the 172 network to try and assign addresses to the 192 network computers, and it was also "resetting" a connection about once an hour. This crashed our server on the 192 network. I disconnected that cat 5 cable between the two siwtches, and now each of the two networks are working properly, but they are now completely isolated from one another.
I need to create a bridge between the 2 networks so that machines on the 192 network can access machines on the 172 network while filtering out DHCP broadcasts from either network router to the other network. (I may need to filter out other protocols as well, but don't know yet.)So, I see 3 potential ways of doing this but don't know if they will work:
1) Can I just set up multiple subnets on the LAN interface of the RV042 and just run 2 cat5 cables from each switch on the two networks to the LAN ports of the RV042?
1a) If I do set up multiple subnets on the LAN interface of the RV042, do I need to assign the two ports to different VLANs? (I don't see any way to set each port to a specific IP address.)
2) Can I set up the 2 WAN ports on the RV042, one static for each network, and will the RV042 route traffic from 1 WAN port to the second WAN port?
3) Is there some other way I should consider setting this up?
Finally, someone mentioned that once I get the RV042 set up correctly as a bridge, I will need to route 172 addresses on the 192 network to the 192 interface of the RV042 via the DHCP router on the 192 network, and conversely, I will need to route 192 addresses on the 172 network from the DHCP router to the 172 IP interface of the RV042. I think this will be easy enough to set up in each of the DHCP routers...
I have two private networks and want/need to route traffic between them. I also have an ISP connection and want/need to provide internet to at least one of the private networks. Providing internet access to both is not required or desired.
Can this be accomplished with an RV042? If so, how?
P.s. The problem space, once again, in a non-narrative form with some addresses thrown in:
Private Network A: 192.168.200.0/24
Private Network B: 10.50.3.96/27
ISP Network C: 192.168.0.0/24 192.168.0.1GW 192.168.0.2 is WAN1 address on RV042

I am having trouble setting up two networks.Basically, i want one 'private' network and one public network. The problem is, the private network can't access the internet.(Network 2)
Network 1(Public) works fine as i don't want them to access Network 2.Here's how it is setup.

They are all connected to the company network for internet and access to shared network drives.The computers are used for media (mostly video) production and we need to move large files between the computers easily and quickly. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 Pro Desktop with an on-board Ethernet and an Axis USB To Ethernet adapter. The on board Ethernet is configured as dhcp and obtain the address 10.162.146.123 with 255.255.255.0 subnet. The Axis USB to Ethernet adapter is static ip configuration with 10.38.25.37 and 255.0.0.0 as subnet. Under the adv settings I have also another ip 11.38.25.37 with 255.0.0.0 subnet. When the Axis is communicating 10.38.0.1 network I can not access the internet using the on board Ethernet 10.162.146.123. I have to disable either one of the cards to access one network at a time.

My current configuration allows hosts on the remote site networks to talk to hosts on the HQ network, but not to hosts on the other remote sites.I have receieved a request to allow comminucation between the remote sites as well, with traffic all routed through the 5510 at HQ.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a employed at a credit union with 17 branches. We have a mpls circuit connecting the branches to our main office. I setup DSL as a backup connection. I have 17 RV042 Cisco VPN Routers. I created a secure vpn tunnel for every branch to the main office. I made a delayed route in our main router to fail over to the VPN, in case the mpls failed. Almost everything works great except our ATM's are required to connect to a router at our main office to a different subnet than the tunnel is connecting, therefore not routing through the tunnel. I've tried creating another tunnel but only works with one of the branches, cause I get a conflict at the main office when I try a second tunnel with the same ip network. Also I tried routing all the traffic through the vpn by putting in the address 0.0.0.0 subnet 0.0.0.0, at the branch site. But I can only do that for one branch, The Downtown Cisco won’t let me create another tunnel with that setting.

Both subnet can access Internet by accessing IP address, but 192.168.9.0 cannot access Internet by using host name. It looks like DNS is not working for the 9.0 network.

My server has two NICs. So I thought, I why not set one address up to 10.x.x.x But the two nets can't ping each other. I tried using "multiple subnet" on the RV042, setting up 10.1.1.1, but no luck.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAdding a second DAP-1522, They have 1 DAP-1522, they set that up useing the WAP(button on the side), This one is running in the frontroom of the house and the 2nd bridge will be running in the bedroom of the house.She has tried to click on the WAP button on both Dap-1522's and then the router to sync but thats not working, from what we can tell. I think I will need to manually config them now that a second one has been introduced.the frontroom Bridge is 192.168.0.50, but we cant find the ipaddreess for the second dap-1522 at this time. So question to all, if I can - Is there a way to identify all of the Dap-1522's on the network or anything that is connected on the network. as the DIR-655 is only showing 2 things connected?Right now I wish she would have listened too me and had her house wired for ethernet when the house was being built.

now lets say i am branch 1, i can access 10.10.1.0/24 network but cant access 10.10.5.0/24 network, means i dont have branch to branch connection, it should be through HQ, means my RV042 at brnach should fwd all traffic to HQ for another branches also. Under VPN tunnel if i try to configure remote destination 10.10.0.0/21 its not allowing me it says network overlaping with local network, how i can sole it, I know how to do in cisco, we can permit those networks in access lists.
We have setup a new internal web server so now we have two internal web server and both or hosting sites on port 80. Currently we have port 80 forwarding to one of the web servers and users are able to hit it from the outside.
Is there any way to configure the RV042 to route web traffic to the correct web server by using the site name or dns? If a user puts in the address{URL}, be routed to one web server but if they put in {URL}, be routed to our second web server. I've checked with our vendors and the both web servers applications need to run on port 80. If we have forwarding setup on the RV042 to forward port 80 to web1 then users can't access web2 from the outside?
I'd like to set each individual LAN port with different address i.e. LAN 1 192.168.1.1 and LAN 2 10.1.1.1 instead of using the multiple subnet feature and having all ports replying for the addresses created.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to associate multiple IPv4 networks with one physical interface in the router. All those multiple networks share the same broadcast domain(VLAN 5). I am aware that it's not possible to have multiple subinterfaces in the router with the same "encapsulation dot1Q 5". Am I correct that only option here is to configure all those networks as a secondary network to router physical interface? Or are there other possibilities than secondary addresses?

I am setting up a customer site. One side is RV180W and the other side is Checkpoint 500W.
RV180W side
LAN - 192.168.100.0/24
Checkpoint side
LAN - 172.26.1.0/24
VOIP - 172.26.2.0/24
Need to setup an ipsec tunnel between the site. However, from the RV180W side, I can only ping the VOIP network, but not LAN. I have heard that RV180W only can talk to one remote network via ipsec, correct? workaround this other than changing out the RV180W?
We have Point to point T1 environment where 3 additional WAN sites get internet access through our RV042. When we setup load balancing we have problems with https traffic, so we setup protocol binding for https and everything worked great from the local LAN. When trying to access https content from the remote LAN across the WAN the sites failed and I see no option to add additional subnets to the protocol binding. Is there a command line feature that supports adding additional subnets for protocol binding or is the local LAN the only option?

From what i am reading, it looks like the RV042 can do this, but I am not real clear what my rules should look like.
I would think my high priority rule for each external IP address would be to deny all traffic first for each machine on the lan.Then create one entry with source 202.x.x.2 port 80 -> 192.168.168.2 ?
How should I set my rules to do this, and what settings should I have on the Nic of the second machine?
I'm going to move offices into a shared situation with 3 companies. Each company will want its own private network so there's no snooping between companies. I am planning on using VOIP for the phone system (Nextiva cloud based). Is it possible to set up the system so that each company has access to the VOIP system but yet remains sequestered in the their own network for everything else. I was hoping to do this with one data port at each workstation using Cisco SPA-303 phones. The way I understand this, is that the phone plugs in to the data port and you daisy chain the workstation off from each phone. Is this possible to do this while having the system I described? Another wrinkle is that I'd also like all the networks to be access shared printers.

I am in the process of baby proofing the house and would like to use the cisco plsk400 homeplug system to relocate my wap. I use 2 networks to seperate and filter the kids internet traffic from my own. It also allows me to shut the kids vlan when they shouldnt be on the internet.
As far as i can tell the plsk400 homeplug doesnt support 802.1q.... so is there any way i can keep the seperate networks/SSID's and the abilty to filter and turn off one of them at will without a trunked link to the router?
We have RV 042 deployed for internet access/firewall purposes. Due to growing number for Wireless devices and also to separate WLAN traffic from wired devices, we have created a separate VLAN/IP Subnet for the wifi devices. We are having trouble accessing the internet from the WiFi VLAN/IP Subnet. Cisco 3750 is layer 2 and layer 3 device. We have VLAN 1 (10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0), all wired devices and RV 042 are part of VLAN 1. Connectivity to internet from VLAN 1 is good. VLAN 2 (192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0) was created for wifi devices, 3750 does the inter-vlan routing, I have enabled the multiple subnet feature on the RV 042 and added 192.168.1.2 / 24 to the subnet list, we still have issues accessing internet from vlan 2 devices.
As a workaround, I shutdown vlan 2 and added 192.168.1.0/24 as secondary address to the VLAN 1 interface on 3750 and i was able to access internet from 192.168.1.0/24 network with wifi devices also on vlan 1, we want wifi devices to be on separate vlan / ip subnet. Looking at the documentation for RV series routers, it talks about supporting multiple subnets access to internet by enabling multiple subnet feature but it doesn't seem to work.Are there restrictions on having multiple vlans?
setting up networks with multiple locations and multiple wireless points.For example: My sisters' home has here modem in her main computer room, it has a Belkin router hooked to the modem. Then a line goes from there to my nephew's room where I tried to expand their network by adding another router. I really just wanted an access point, but they don't seem to sell these as much as they used to. Anyway, I had it working, but it was two different networks, NETWORK1 and NETWORK2. So they had to swap networks when moving around the house. what would be the best hardware setup to provide both sides of the house with some Hardwired access as well as wifi access? Right now, we have two routers, a DIR615 (or something like that) and a Cisco E1000, and again hardwire going from the main computer room to my nephew's room.Also, in my house, I have lots of stuff... I have an Actiontec Router from FIOS, feeding a small hub as well as a switch in my main room. Which then feeds a Ps3, Wii, laptop, Denon reciever, and Access Point... and also feeds my Apple TimeCapsule, which also feeds my printer. My wireless devices range from cameras, iphones/ipads, and a wifi unit (I forget what it's called, but it connects my DVR wirelessly to my network, and the DVR itself doesn't have wifi).
my question about my setup is, should everything be on one network... as in let the ActionTec handle most of the duties and use switchers and accesspoints to extend the network. Should everything be on the same wireless network and channels? Like if I used my access point to extend, do I want the same settings as my main wireless router, and would that be the same for the Apple Airport Extreme?Also, does having all these wireless networks going create any kind of hinderance on my performance. For example, the PS3 has some sort of wifi in it... it produces a SSID, but I never connect to it. Should I make sure that's off? And in my main room, should I go with just the AirPort extreme over using it and the Wireless Access point.

I want to connect it to one of the ports from a CiscoASA5505 router because I need to connect 4 additional PC's and the ASA is out of available ports.I am trying to connect it through an ethernet port from my laptop.At first I configured the TCP/IP settings as getting the IP and DNS's automatically and but I was able to enter the setup by entering the default IP address (192.168.1.1).After 10 minutes it got disconnected and could not connect again.I get Status: Limited or no connectivity.If I try to type the IP address manually (192.168.1.1) I can ping the router successfully but the setup webpage never opens.what I need to do in order to access the setup webpage when I connect the router directly to my laptop?
