Connecting Multiple Computers Through Different Networks?

Jan 11, 2012

I have 3 Macs (OS 10.6.8) and one PC (Windows 7) at work. They are all connected to the company network for internet and access to shared network drives. The computers are used for media (mostly video) production and we need to move large files between the computers easily and quickly. The current network (company wide) is slow and unreliable, so I would like to create a separate network for these four computers and have them connected to both the company network and the office room network. Each computer already has two network ports and I have a router I can use.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Multiple Networks Connecting To It?

Jan 9, 2011

Adding a second DAP-1522,  They have 1 DAP-1522, they set that up useing the WAP(button on the side),  This one is running in the frontroom of the house and the 2nd bridge will be running in the bedroom of the house. She has tried to click on the WAP button on both Dap-1522's and then the router to sync but thats not working, from what we can tell.   I think I will need to manually config them now that a second one has been introduced.the frontroom Bridge is, but we cant find the ipaddreess for the second dap-1522 at this time.  So question to all, if I can - Is there a way to identify all of the Dap-1522's on the network or anything that is connected on the network. as the DIR-655 is only showing 2 things connected?Right now I wish she would have listened too me and had her house wired for ethernet when the house was being built.

3 Computers On 2 Different Wireless Networks?

Mar 12, 2012

One of my business customers need a network set up a certain way. They have two XP computers right now. Their internet connection is wireless through a Verizon Mifi. They also have a crossover cable through the wall so the two computers can share files. They are going to add a 3rd Windows 7 computer and turn one of those XP computers into a server where all the files they need to access (Quickbooks, etc) will be stored. They do not want the server to have internet access at all. Becuase of the way the building is set up, I need to add a wireless router to the mix. The Mifi will only be for the two client computers to connect to the internet and the other wireless router would be for the two client computers to connect to the server to access their files. I tried yesterday to add the wireless router to the mix by having one computer (XP) use one wireless card to access the Mifi with an IP address of and another wireless card to access the wirless router with an IP address of It connected to both perfectly, but then got confused as to which wireless connection to use to access the internet. I've read about how you need to use two different gateway addresses on each to seperate them inside Windows but wanted to make sure that's how I needed to do it before I went out there and tried it.

Laptop Recognizes 1 Of 2 Wireless Networks And Other Computers Can Connect To Both

Feb 11, 2012

I have suddenly started having issues recognising and connecting to a wireless network at home on my laptop. We have 2 wireless networks at home as we use an additional D-Link router through the powerlines. (DHP-W307AV PowerLine Homeplug AV Wireless N Starter Kit)I used to be able to connect to both but now I can just connect to the main wireless router. Other laptops and smart phones in the house can connect to both. I was wondering if this had anything to do with Norton 360 so I have used their removal tool to get rid of it. Unfortunately I still can't connect to the second network.

Multiple Computers With Same IP?

Jul 21, 2011

I have 4 computer, all with them IP address. There is nothing I can do about this. I'd like to access them each via a 5th computer. Originally I thought I can connect each of the 4 computers to 4 different routers and then use NAT to convert their IP address's to 4 unique ones. When I actually applied this solution, the 5th computer was not able to ping the converted IP address. This method either does not work, or I did not config the router correctly. I was using a Cisco RV016 out of the box, and added NAT entries into it's table.

Multiple NIC's - Two Networks?

Feb 14, 2012

I am having trouble setting up two networks.Basically, i want one 'private' network and one public network. The problem is, the private network can't access the internet.(Network 2)

Network 1(Public) works fine as i don't want them to access Network 2.Here's how it is setup.

Router/Modem (Network 1)
Server NIC1
Server NIC2
Switch - (Network 2)

Network 1 can access the internet and shared files on the server.

Network 2 can access Shared files on the server (which is what i want) but cannot access the internet.

Router/modem IP is subnet

Server NIC 1 IP is subnet
Server NIC 2 IP is subnet

How can i get computers in Network 2 to access internet?

Access Multiple Computers Behind Router?

Jun 21, 2011

I have few computers behind the wireless router. All the computers have static private addresses The issue is that when I try to access any computer e.g to use FTP. From outside since I can only use the main WAN IP address when I use FTP I can only connect to one computer basically the one running FTP service on port 21. I can access the wireless router and if necessary can do the port assignments. My question is that if multiple computers are running FTP services behind the router how can I connect to each one of them.

Can't Connect To A Certain Website On Multiple Computers

Oct 13, 2012

I can't connect to one website. Not on my computer, not on my father's computer. I think the network is the problem, which is why I'm posting here. The website was working even yesterday but during yesterday evening, it stopped working and it's been like that since. I don't know how to fix it. My command prompt says my server can't find that one website and says my server failed. I tried other things like scan my computer, restart it, look at my Chrome settings, my firewall settings, nothing worked. I'm not sure what's going on here, because the network is private, and the contact information for 2Wire/Pace was useless for me, so I don't know what to do.

Login To Multiple Computers With Single One?

Jul 22, 2012

I currently have mutiple computers at my place. Once the computer turned on i want the option of which login for the current computer to use, it can login it current computer or the mutiples computer with their content/data all inside. So more like an computer linked. Example, it can only to A or B, A is the current computer data, while B have all the data of the different computer monitor datas, and if i login B it will show that current computer info. And same goes to the B computer, i can login to A or B on the B computer. What makes this very good is that, both the computer logins are sort of connected, for example if im on actual computer A, but logined to computer B and downloaded/changed some files/data on the B login, once i login on computer B to login B, the changes will apply even tho the changes are done in computer A.

Setting Multiple Computers To Run One Teamspeak Server?

Dec 11, 2012

My friends and I want to set up a better Teamspeak 3 server but Don't want to spend the money to rent one. We currently have a friend who runs the server on his computer but it is unreliable. We are wondering if we could have multiple computers support one server. So that if one computer fails the server would still get supported by other computers that are supporting the server. Also what would be some recommended hardware stats to run this server.

So I'm asking, can we have multiple computers support a single Teamspeak 3 server?

D-link Dir-601 :: Unable To Send Wifi To Multiple Computers

Feb 9, 2012

I have a Mac, and my wife has a PC running Windows 7. Since we moved into our new house, our Dlink DIR-601 does not seem to want to send Wi-Fi to both computers at the same time. One of the computers always seems to lag or not have internet connection at all. The Mac also seems to work better and more often than the PC when both are trying to access wi-fi.

I have messed with the channel settings, security, and most other typical settings on the router to no avail. Is there a setting I'm missing or should I enable certain settings that will allow both computers to have the same signal strength and reliability.

I am aware that it's not possible to have multiple subinterfaces in the router with the same "encapsulation dot1Q 5". Am I correct that only option here is to configure all those networks as a secondary network to router physical interface? Or are there other possibilities than secondary addresses?

Internet Access Using Multiple Computers On Private Wireless Network

Apr 2, 2012

the site has a private wireless network for which I pay a yearly access fee. This gives me a code I can use to gain access each time I connect. We used to be able to have all our family's laptops, etc., connected at the same time using this code, but the site has recently changed the configuration so that we can't do this. Is there any way we can share the connection made by one computer so that we can all access the Internet at the same time? The site is in a remote location that gets poor mobile data coverage and landlines are not an option. The yearly fee is already high, so I can't afford to pay for multiple subscriptions.

Routers / Switches :: Office VOIP With Multiple Private Networks?

Jan 23, 2011

I'm going to move offices into a shared situation with 3 companies. Each company will want its own private network so there's no snooping between companies. I am planning on using VOIP for the phone system (Nextiva cloud based). Is it possible to set up the system so that each company has access to the VOIP system but yet remains sequestered in the their own network for everything else. I was hoping to do this with one data port at each workstation using Cisco SPA-303 phones. The way I understand this, is that the phone plugs in to the data port and you daisy chain the workstation off from each phone. Is this possible to do this while having the system I described? Another wrinkle is that I'd also like all the networks to be access shared printers.

Connecting Two Networks Via WAN?

Aug 15, 2011

We have three computers (one of which acts as a file server) plugged directly into an internal office network. Then we have another such connection leading to the WAN port of a router which shares a single connection among another 5 or so computers & laptops. So the WAN connection is providing internet access AND access to the file server.

Since upgrading to a new router, it is now not possible to "see" the file server from the computers connected to the router, although the internet can still be accessed without a hitch. This has now become infuriating as I've spent several hours changing all possible router & IP settings to no avail.
