3 Computers On 2 Different Wireless Networks?

Mar 12, 2012

One of my business customers need a network set up a certain way. They have two XP computers right now. Their internet connection is wireless through a Verizon Mifi. They also have a crossover cable through the wall so the two computers can share files. They are going to add a 3rd Windows 7 computer and turn one of those XP computers into a server where all the files they need to access (Quickbooks, etc) will be stored. They do not want the server to have internet access at all. Becuase of the way the building is set up, I need to add a wireless router to the mix. The Mifi will only be for the two client computers to connect to the internet and the other wireless router would be for the two client computers to connect to the server to access their files. I tried yesterday to add the wireless router to the mix by having one computer (XP) use one wireless card to access the Mifi with an IP address of 192.168.2.1 and another wireless card to access the wirless router with an IP address of 192.168.1.1. It connected to both perfectly, but then got confused as to which wireless connection to use to access the internet. I've read about how you need to use two different gateway addresses on each to seperate them inside Windows but wanted to make sure that's how I needed to do it before I went out there and tried it.

Laptop Recognizes 1 Of 2 Wireless Networks And Other Computers Can Connect To Both

Feb 11, 2012

I have suddenly started having issues recognising and connecting to a wireless network at home on my laptop. We have 2 wireless networks at home as we use an additional D-Link router through the powerlines. (DHP-W307AV PowerLine Homeplug AV Wireless N Starter Kit)I used to be able to connect to both but now I can just connect to the main wireless router. Other laptops and smart phones in the house can connect to both. I was wondering if this had anything to do with Norton 360 so I have used their removal tool to get rid of it. Unfortunately I still can't connect to the second network.

Connecting Multiple Computers Through Different Networks?

Jan 11, 2012

I have 3 Macs (OS 10.6.8) and one PC (Windows 7) at work. They are all connected to the company network for internet and access to shared network drives. The computers are used for media (mostly video) production and we need to move large files between the computers easily and quickly. The current network (company wide) is slow and unreliable, so I would like to create a separate network for these four computers and have them connected to both the company network and the office room network. Each computer already has two network ports and I have a router I can use.

Two Computers - Only One Will Connect Through Wireless

Aug 19, 2012

I have a home wireless network and my service provider is Suddenlink. I use a DLink modem and have two Tosiba laptops. All of this has been working fine until this morning when one of the laptops won't connect to the internet. when I run the trouble shooting guides on it I get messages that the problem is that the modem won't connect to the internet. However, the other laptop (this one) is working fine. when I look at the network map i see both computers and a green line to the modem. on this computer, there is also a green line from modem to internet. the other computer shows a res x on the modem to internet line. this is a sudden change i have restarted the computer the modem and the router. I can also conenect this computer to the internet via a mifi that I have but not the other laptop. there are no red x's on any of the hardware when I go to the "manage" computer.

Two Computers Cause Wireless Disconnection?

Apr 14, 2012

I just recently had comcast high-speed cable installed, and purchased a Linksys E2500 advanced dual-band N router to get myself going. I'm running an Asus G74s series laptop with windows 7 and everything runs great while I am the only one connected. That being said when another laptop connects (Toshiba satellite also windows 7) the internet stays stable. It isn't until we try and do something that the internet randomly disconnects for 2 or more seconds before re-connecting and putting us in a constant loop of idiotic disconnection.

A quick example would be using the Toshiba to connect to World of Warcraft, I on my Asus can surf the web just fine for about an hour before it disconnects. When I try connecting to a, or the game at the same time it'll allow play for about 7 mins before the net drops for a few seconds then re-connects. This happens frequently no matter the time of day.I have attempted re-setting everything. Everything is up to date including the router. I've attempted to release and renew my IP. However I get this :

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

C:UsersVirus>ipconfig/all

Wireless Slow On All Computers

Oct 18, 2012

There are several wireless devices connected to my home network, but for simplicity, let's keep it limited to 3, and call them A, B, and C. They are different manufacturers, but what I'm seeing isn't specific to a computer. When they are wired in, they all have expected levels of performance, but when then are wireless, there is a strange pattern.[code] Provider is Comcast on a Cisco wireless router. Looked at isolating devices, limiting traffic, changing locations, etc and nothing usage-wise has affected the at-home numbers. So I know I am most likely looking at a router setting, but I can't seem to narrow in on why only one device works as expected and everything else is painfully slow.

I have a Dell inspiron that is about 3 years old. About a month ago I wanted to connect to a wireless network, but there were none visible. I was in a coffee shop where I know there was a strong signal, but nothign showed up. I checked with a friend who was with me, and not only was he connected, he could see 5 other networks in the area - I showed none, even though when I put my mouse over the icon in the lower right of the try, I got a message that there were wireless networks available.Even at home, where it connected automatically, if I clicked on view wireless networks, ny own network that I was connected to wouldn't even show up.

I dont know why this is happening. i got a new wifi modem. i cant even blame the new connection alone, because before that my pc at least used to show other inaccessible wireless networks in the list. but today it shows nothing.i have a windows xp.

I've just installed windows xp pro sp 3 on my laptop and am going through installing the drivers for the problem devices. I've got everything installed minus the drivers for the sound card. I'm trying to connect to my wireless network and am not having much luck. I know the network is available because i'm on it right now sending this message. However with this new installation everytime i refresh i'm getting the "No wireless networks were found in range" message. I'm also not getting any yellow question marks in the device manager window for this device. I know the card works because it worked just fine with ubuntu before i wiped the hdd and installed xp ....

No Wireless Networks Detected

Jul 31, 2012

My friend uninstalled some programmes on his Toshiba laptop and now he can only connect to the router via an ethernet cable. When trying to find wireless networks the message "No wireless networks detected" appears. Other laptops and devices have no problems connecting throughout the house. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the right drivers for the wireless adapter, checked that the TCP/IP settings are on obtain ip address automatically, checked that the NIC is enabled in the BIOS and checked that the WLAN is on automatic in the services utilty and there is no other WZC running.

Bridging Two Wireless Networks?

Aug 27, 2012

My current project is to have a printer that actually works. You don't need one often, but when you do you really need one. I'd like the printer to be wireless as we all use laptops but don't want to have the printer near the router.

The simple solution is to shell out for a wireless printer, but I have access to a cheap (and good) ethernet only printer. Now, how to connect it? I have a spare old router, which I'm thinking of connecting to the printer. I'd then have to get the router to join the network (is that possible?) or somehow bridge them. The to devices to join would be this and this.

Wireless Keeps Cutting Out With Certain Networks?

Jun 13, 2011

I have a windows xp system with a dell wireless WLAN card. I have found that when I try to connect to certain wireless networks - most recently the BBox network through Bouygues Telecom in France - it will connect, work fine for a minute or two, and then disconnect automatically. I can reconnect by going into the WLAN Card Utility and re-entering the WEP password, but I don't know why it cuts off automatically. I also noticed the same thing happening while trying to connect to a friend's wireless in London, England (not sure what the provider was). Other computers don't seem to have the same problem.

Not that I can connect to any of the others (don't have the security codes), but I find it strange that it used to show all of them, but all but my own have suddenly disappeared. Did I check some setting somewhere (that I can't find now) saying to show only the strongest connection?

Unable To Connect To Wireless On 1 Of 2 Computers?

Jan 2, 2013

i have a laptop and a desktop, everything was working fine until i messed with something in the router settings by accident, i changed some type of security setting and then changed it back because i was testing something.. at this point i had to remake the network for some reason, whcih was no problem i put in the pin and security code and i was able to connect through my desktop with no problem.. a few hours later i realized my laptop could no longer connect.. i recieved the unable to connect error.. i read that it could be the security settings, so i assumed i switched something before by accident and i restored to factory defaults...

after i did this my laptop could connect to the internet but my desktop couldnt connect! so it basically reversed itself.. i dunno what could be the problem.. i tried 2 of the 3 authentication modes because i am afraid if i try the 3rd i will lose internet completely then i will have no clue what to do..

LAN Disconnected / No Wireless Networks Detected?

Jun 30, 2012

I recently did a recovery on my laptop and had to put everything back to factory settings (losing all my music, programs, etc) due to a hard disk issue that I couldn't fix otherwise. After several hours waiting for the process to finish I logged onto my laptop - a toshiba, and realized that my wifi isn't working. The computer says there is an issue with the LAN being disconnected, but my router is communicating fine with other devices. Also, the side switch that turns wifi on and off is lit up (indicating that it is on) despite the fact that Fn + F8 are not responding on my computer. Generally, the laptop cannot detect any wireless devices or routers.I did another system recovery after reading about the issue, and tried turning it on and off, etc, but with no success.
