I have laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and an other desktop system running Windows XP.The Laptop is connected to the internet via the router and the desktop is connected to the router via a LAN cable(not cross cable).Is there any way to link these systems together?

Have three computers ( 2 are XP one is vista) connected via wireless router one computer is considered a host computer sitting on a docking station which has the printers connected to it. In the beginning once everything was connected we could print from any computer wireless, then one day we had a power outage and for some reason we can only print from the host computer. How to get the other computers back online to print. All computers are still able to connect to the internet via wireless router (Linksys E1000) but not able to print except the host which is directly connected to the printers.

There are 3 computers that connect wirelessly: a 8-year-old desktop with a Netgear USB adapter, a 1.5 year old laptop and a 3.5 year old netbook, both with internal wireless cards. The desktop and netbook are running Windows XP and the laptop runs WIndows 7.
The desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7) are able to connect with no problem. However, the netbook (XP) is having problems connecting. It is able to connect to the router using the WPA2 key, and says it has excellent signal. However, when I start up an internet browser, it gives me a DNS error for any page I try to access. Connecting directly to the router with a cable works fine.
I got on the phone with Linksys support. They told me the problem was that the computer wouldn't use WPA2, but when I switched to WEP, it didn't work at all! I switched back to WPA2 and have the same problem as before: it connects to the network but DNS error messages for any website I try to access (And I've tried both Chrome and Explorer).
To make things more interesting, I set up a guest network on the router, and the netbook connects fine through that so far!
Recently i have been having LOADS of problems with my wireless router. Every now and then it will decide that 2 of my 3 computers will not be allowed to connect to the internet. and i will have to spend hours of resetting and rebooting computers to get it to work again.. only for the issue to start again a few hours later. I recently added the third computer but im not sure how that would be an issue.

I have a E2500 connected to a cable modem as the base of my home network. Hard wire connected to the E2500 is an linksys 8 port hub and a couple of computers. The 8 port hub is connected to a couple of computers and a xbox. I have the hub as a distro point to cut down on wiring. Wirelessly connected to the E2500 are a variety of laptops, netbooks, ipods, an ipad, a playbook, an iphone, a android phone, a wireless printer and a Ps3. Most of the devices are just using the wifi for internet access. Most devices have been setup with their own ip addresses to avoid ip conflicts. The computers and laptops/netbooks are running either Windows XP, Windows 7 or Mepis Linux. Up until now everything was going as good as can be expected, all the computers could see each other and most could transfer files between each other except when Windows gets picky.In the last few days no computers can see each other. Windows or Linux.Everything can accsess the internet and wirelessly print still just can't see each other. I reset the E2500. I updated the firmware on the E2500. I installed the Cisco Connect software (just in case I was too stupid too setup a router). Still nothing. I can ping other machines from a command prompt in windows or a terminal in Linux and get a good ping back. In the router setup via a browser I can go to the status page and see other devices on the local network but most are just ipods, ipad, playbook and the wireless printer, If I go to the administration page / diagnostics I can ping other computers and get a good answer. I just can see them from each other. I think I've rebooted every thing at least once. Yes the workgroup names are all the same (workgroup) and yes file sharing is turned on on all computers.

Before when I had a **bleep**y netgear 33 mb it worked perfectly fine. Now this router is has 300 +mb and it stil doesnt work. This router cost me $80 dollars. Before cisco linsys I bought a netgear not the **bleep**ty neatgear but a newer one and it still had the same problem.

I have 2 computers connected directly to the E3000, and 2 computers connected to a ProCurve managed switch on the other side of the house. It's been awhile since I installed the old router and I remember something about not using the CD as it says before plugging in the new router because it messes everything up. All of my computers are running XP Pro SP3 with 2 of them being wired.
I remember something about just plugging the router in and typing in 192.168.1.1 in my browser and then setting everything up that way. Am I correct in doing this or am I forgetting something?

Recently installed an E4200 router to an MacPro following the setup as directed by Cisco Connection (connect Ethernet to router and then computer to router.) The wireless and the hard-wire connectivity works fine with accessing the internet. However, we have lost the ability to connect to other computers on our LAN via the Shared folder connection. This is usually accessed via the Sidebar (see image)
However with the E4200 in the mix, all we see is the router per its "given name" (what it was named on installation). I have tried to follow the advice mentioned in other threads, such as "Can't access network shares with E3000" and nothing worked-- and those threads seemed to apply to Windows and PCs anyway.
How can I see network rate of other computers connected to my WRT54GL wireless router?I have admin password and I want to see how much bytes/sec received and sent from all the computers connected to the router.

My android phone also is having the same issue. My internet connection is stable and my wired connections do not get disconnected at all at any time. Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook.However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200. When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well.All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

One is running at 18Mbps, the other two at 0.4Mbps. the internet setting are the same and the security is the same (WPA2-Personal with AES encryption). One of the slow computers is brand new and WAY faster than my "fast internet" computer. The other is about the same as the "fast internet" computer. I updated the I connected the new computer to the router tusing an ethernet cable and it had superfast internet. I redid the Cisco connect on each computer, but it didnt change anything. Why is it so slow wirelessly?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI,ve used a network for a number of years with no problems. I have databases on computer 1 and access them with computer 2. After installing a Cisco e2500 I can connect to the databases but after a short period of time I am disconnected. If I search my network computer 1 is not found. Waiting a few minutes the network will find computer 1 again. At about the same time my firewall software has started to show an attack from an 2 different IP's I don't recognize but its always one of those 2 IP's. I'm assuming the two problems are related. I,ve considered going into my firewall and allowing the unknown IP access, BUT who knows where that IP is coming from. I've checked the Cisco setup but couldn't find an IP address that matched the attacking IP address.

WiFi is OK (0% loss) from new computers to E1200 itself (ping E1200 IP address).Old computers, mobile devices, and wired are OK to reliable internet hosts.Basic Wireless Settings are Mixed, Auto Channel Width. Wireless Security is set to WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode. Guest Access enabled.
