View 1 RepliesI have been searching the net for a hub of some sort for a home office. I need it to be able to support printers. It needs to be a wireless router and have a data storage which can be accessed by multiple computers. Like a backup. But the main thing im worried about is if it can be protected by antivirus and stuff.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have few computers behind the wireless router. All the computers have static private addresses 198.168.1.xxx. The issue is that when I try to access any computer e.g to use FTP. From outside since I can only use the main WAN IP address when I use FTP I can only connect to one computer basically the one running FTP service on port 21. I can access the wireless router and if necessary can do the port assignments. My question is that if multiple computers are running FTP services behind the router how can I connect to each one of them.

View 1 Replies View Relatedthe site has a private wireless network for which I pay a yearly access fee. This gives me a code I can use to gain access each time I connect. We used to be able to have all our family's laptops, etc., connected at the same time using this code, but the site has recently changed the configuration so that we can't do this. Is there any way we can share the connection made by one computer so that we can all access the Internet at the same time? The site is in a remote location that gets poor mobile data coverage and landlines are not an option. The yearly fee is already high, so I can't afford to pay for multiple subscriptions.

My son and daughter-in-law use the wireless and I use the direct connect. M son added a router (which I have no idea what that does) and set up networking on his computer (which I also have no idea what that does). When I am the only one on the computer, it flys. When either of them get on thiers too, it slowes a little. When both of them get on, I might as well get off because it can take up to three and a half minutes to load a page.

We have a dell power edge 2900 server running windows SBS 2008 and a switch with more than enough ports for what we need. What i need to know is how exactly to do the wireless and what hardware would work best for us. We plan to have approximately 45 computers hooked into the server and have some wired but for the most part wireless. Also we would want to look into advanced security options for our wireless set up as we will be in the same building as a few other companies.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 4 computer, all with them IP address. There is nothing I can do about this. I'd like to access them each via a 5th computer. Originally I thought I can connect each of the 4 computers to 4 different routers and then use NAT to convert their IP address's to 4 unique ones. When I actually applied this solution, the 5th computer was not able to ping the converted IP address. This method either does not work, or I did not config the router correctly. I was using a Cisco RV016 out of the box, and added NAT entries into it's table.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 3 Macs (OS 10.6.8) and one PC (Windows 7) at work. They are all connected to the company network for internet and access to shared network drives. The computers are used for media (mostly video) production and we need to move large files between the computers easily and quickly. The current network (company wide) is slow and unreliable, so I would like to create a separate network for these four computers and have them connected to both the company network and the office room network. Each computer already has two network ports and I have a router I can use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't connect to one website. Not on my computer, not on my father's computer. I think the network is the problem, which is why I'm posting here. The website was working even yesterday but during yesterday evening, it stopped working and it's been like that since. I don't know how to fix it. My command prompt says my server can't find that one website and says my server failed. I tried other things like scan my computer, restart it, look at my Chrome settings, my firewall settings, nothing worked. I'm not sure what's going on here, because the network is private, and the contact information for 2Wire/Pace was useless for me, so I don't know what to do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have mutiple computers at my place. Once the computer turned on i want the option of which login for the current computer to use, it can login it current computer or the mutiples computer with their content/data all inside. So more like an computer linked. Example, it can only to A or B, A is the current computer data, while B have all the data of the different computer monitor datas, and if i login B it will show that current computer info. And same goes to the B computer, i can login to A or B on the B computer. What makes this very good is that, both the computer logins are sort of connected, for example if im on actual computer A, but logined to computer B and downloaded/changed some files/data on the B login, once i login on computer B to login B, the changes will apply even tho the changes are done in computer A.
View 1 Replies View Related I was actually looking forward to setup multiple routers at our college(I know its quite late) where we have quite a good network of ethernet cables. Also, almost every cluster/lab has its own switch and we use static IPs with proxy to one network address(192.168.130.2). The user should be able to travel across multiple ROUTER/AP zones without changing connections.
all I got was I have to do something with MAC cloning and SSIDs.
My friends and I want to set up a better Teamspeak 3 server but Don't want to spend the money to rent one. We currently have a friend who runs the server on his computer but it is unreliable. We are wondering if we could have multiple computers support one server. So that if one computer fails the server would still get supported by other computers that are supporting the server. Also what would be some recommended hardware stats to run this server.
So I'm asking, can we have multiple computers support a single Teamspeak 3 server?
I need to setup my laptop for two different wireless configurations,at home i have a wireless network that work fine, however, at work i need to configure TCP/IPv4 by feeding in the required IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway etc. But i have to repeat this everyday in office and at home by removing and feeding in the parameters. Is there anyway that i can have both configurations and the system just automatically finds the right wireless network without changing the parameters. I am using windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac, and my wife has a PC running Windows 7. Since we moved into our new house, our Dlink DIR-601 does not seem to want to send Wi-Fi to both computers at the same time. One of the computers always seems to lag or not have internet connection at all. The Mac also seems to work better and more often than the PC when both are trying to access wi-fi.
I have messed with the channel settings, security, and most other typical settings on the router to no avail. Is there a setting I'm missing or should I enable certain settings that will allow both computers to have the same signal strength and reliability.
I just received a new Cisco SG300-10 and am configuring it in Layer 3 mode. I am trying to setup multiple routed VLANs going back to a FiOS Actiontec router. My configuration is as follows.
Fios Router: 192.168.1.1
Assigning DHCP 192.168.1.2 through 100.
SG300-10 has VLan 1 ip 192.168.1.5 used for Mgmt.
VLAN2 is 10.0.2.1
VLAN3 is 10.0.3.1.
I have a static route set on the fios router for both subnets setup as follows.
Destination 10.0.3.0 Gateway 192.168.1.5 Netmask 255.255.255.0 Metric 1
Destination 10.0.2.0 Gateway 192.168.1.5 Netmask 255.255.255.0 Metric 1
I have a laptop connected to Gi8 on the Cisco (Vlan 3) and statically assigned 10.0.3.3, with a gateway of 10.0.3.1. DNS set to the fios router (192.168.1.1).
Everything pretty much works EXCEPT, I cannot get out to the internet from either vlan. Traffic routes between vlans/and the default subnet on the fios without issue.
When I ping out, DNS resolves, but will not go past the fios router. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

View 2 Replies View Relatedgetting a secondary isp as back-up and redundancy...and work arounds for ddos's....I just thought that i could use a switch/bridgeable router that can act as a switch... and run that off the first in line off the #1 isp router. Instead of connecting the second into the isp port, i should be able to put the #2 isp line into that. and put #1 ethercable into one of the outgoing ports from the second. And keep all the pc's on the #1 as is....But it should still use both providers simultaniously...right? I have 3 or more routers that can do this, and i have used them like this and shared several pc's internet's other then the primary ISP. But it was shared through the pc. and separate NICS or wifi AP's. I currently have one that will autosense a gig, and have bought another router that can operate at a gig that i plan to put into the #1 position as it's the fastest one. And will keep 1 gig without variability. and also give me wifi n 450-700. And they both support bridgeing, repeating and network balanceing /shareing. This should be possible and i won't have to spend $4,000 on a router with 2 ISP ports, and only uses it as fail-over....=c this should use both simulataniously and balance workloads between each.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt my company, we lease 3 static public IP addresses from 1 ISP. We want to have 3 separate networks that each use one of the IP addresses. Network 1 is the computer network, network 2 is the VOIP network, and network 3 is the security camera network. I am trying to determine the best way to do this. I have come up with 2 solutions in my head, but I'm not sure if they will work or not. I would like to get some input. Solution 1:Solution 1 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Router-> 3 switches. There would be one WAN input on the router, that would have a static route to 3 different LAN ports. For example, address 24.244.208.101 would be assigned to LAN port 1, 24.244.208.102 would be assigned to LAN port 2, and 24.244.208.103 would be assigned to LAN port 3 (by assigned, I mean have a static route to it). Is there some type of router that is capable of doing this? Solution 2:Solution 2 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Switch -> 3 Routers. The ethernet cable would run from the Fiber Box to a switch, and then 3 routers would be plugged into the switch. Each router would have the Static information configured in them. Would both of these methods work? If so, which would be the best way to go?
