I have question about the basics of a high performance application and database server connection to each other. I have two servers, one application and one database server. Both of them are Windows 2008 R2 servers. I would like to connect them. What is the best configuration for quicker communication between them. Is it better to connect them through a network switch? Or directly connect them? Do I need to dedicate one of the ethernet ports on each server to separate their traffic to each other, from the internet connection traffic?
We purchased a database program which has 3 licenses attached. This is a small non-profit org. We would all like to be able to use the program from our homes. What is the best way for all to share and update data to the same database? Would we all be able to work on it simultaneously?
We've got ACE30s (active/standby) running A5(1.2), and a context that's front-ending one of our major applications, doing SSL termination on the client side and SSL initiation on the back side:
parameter-map type ssl FrontEndSSL-Param rehandshake enabled
parameter-map type ssl BackendSSL-param authentication-failure ignore [Code]...
For my Lan, I have created two Vlan; Vlan 10 = for Users and Vlan 20 = For Database Servers,There are 15 Lan computer/laptop and 5 SQL database server (Dell Server) connected through same 24 port cisco 2960 switch. Means, 15 + 5 port occupied.
I have applied access list on cisco switch to restrict communication between vlan 10 and vlan 20.But My main purpose to create two Vlan is not for any kind of communication or restriction. My main Purpose is that Users traffic do not distrub or choke or affect the Database servers. then what will i need to do for that is VLAN Concept is sufficient for my concern OR I will need to buy seperate Cisco Switch to connect 5 database servers OR Else ?
We have deployed an ACE 4710 and its working perfectly. But the problem is that after I chage the default gateway of the servers I am not able to transfer files from one server to other. Is there any special configuration needs to be done on ACE to achieve this?Other than copy Ping, telnet and everything is working fine from the servers. These servers are in the same subnet & VLAN.
I saw a strange beaviour in the ACE30 today. We are configuring most of our VIP:s with "loadbalance vip icmp-reply active" and I haven't thought about it that much.I just assumed it would do what the command says.Today an Intel tech called and said that he had taken down the webservice on port 80 on both servers in a serverfarm and he could still ping the VIP.I had a look in the ACE and saw that the VIP was marked OUTOFSERVICE. But he could still ping it at that moment. What is the criteria for the VIP not to respond to ping with the above command set?
I am going to install two new Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 servers application in a Master and Slave Deployment, and how many bandwidth is consumed between the servers.
is there a possibility to get a load balancing across two rservers so: when client sends http://vip/ and it goes to rserver1 then url is sent without change when client sends http://vip/ and it goes to rserver2 then url is modified to http://vip/xyz/
Or maybe load balancing can be done across two serverfarms ?
I'm setting up an ACE 4710 in our test lab before deploying in production. Do the test web servers I am using need to use the ACE as their default gateway? The are currently configured to use a multilayer switch on their vlan as their gateway but I'm guessing the ACE needs to see the return traffic for load balancing to work correctly?
I am wondering if there is a method to redirect particular URLs to individual real servers in a server farm.Scenario: We have an url which is setup on our ACE4710s (A3 2.4) to load balancer to a particular server farm as per standard setup i.e.Customers access [URL] on an external VIP, this is then load balanced to a server farm "SF_WEBSITE" consisting of 2 real servers "Server_A" and "Server_B". Nothing difficult in this set up. However, I have eeen asked if it is possible to redirect certain urls to individual servers within the server farm "SF_WEBSITE": e.g.
Action 1 - Customers access [URL] is redirected to "Server_A" only
Action 2 - Customers access [URL] is redirected to "Server_B" only
Default Action - Customer access [URL] anything else is redirected to server farm "SF_WEBSITE" and is load balanced between "Server_A" and "Server_B"
The Standard Class Maps and Policy would be something like:
policy-map type loadbalance first-match SLB_WEBSITE class class-default serverfarm SF_WEBSITE
Where I thought I would need something like:
class-map type http loadbalance match-all CMAP_AREA1 description CMAP used to capture specific URL for area 1 2 match http url /area1 class-map type http loadbalance match-all CMAP_AREA2 description CMAP used to capture specific URL for area 2 2 match http url /area2
[code]...
I think the above method is ok for 1 instance, but if it test successfully, my company would want to to roll this out across dozens of server farm configurations each consisting of numerous real servers, which will make the administration and implementation time overheads massive, not to mention complicating and lengthening the configuration.
I'm looking for a way to configure Cisco ACE4710 loadbalancer to bypass traffic that is initiated from server side to Internet? Are there any way to configure this, so that the loadbalancer will not maintain session for this bypass traffic to maximize throughput?
Our Exchange 2010 hub servers run multiple services/ports: smtp, www, pop3,135, 143, https, 993, 995, 6001,6002,6003,60200,60201,8400, and 8402 what is the best way of balancing these servers so that if only one of the services failed on a server, it would switch only the failed service to remaining servers. At present I only use an smtp probe, so as log as that sevrice is running the server is marked good.
What are the maximum number of real servers, server farms and virtual servers i can configure on ACE30 module,Is there any documentation available on cisco site where i can check this? Does it depend on the hardware or does it depend on the software version?
We are planning to split the Private servers from the DMZ Servers and configure an additional Interface and segment for this purpose.
Private Servers Segment: 192.168.4.0/24 (there is no DHCP all servers' IPs are statically configured) DMZ Segment: 192.168.3.0/24 (This is a future deployment) LAN Segment: 172.17.0.0/16
Both, Private Servers and DMZ Servers are in a collocation as well as the ASA5520. There are multiple Branch offices that uses subnets within the 172.17.0.0/16 Network and they are connected to the ASA5520 via Metro-E.
I do not know if this is possible but what I want to do is this:
In order to avoid the change of internal DNS records I want to mask the DMZ servers with a Private Server IP when a Private server or LAN host wants to access it like this:
The FTP server in the DMZ has the IP address: 192.168.3.100. But when a PC from the LAN wants to reach the FTP server it should points to its old IP: 192.168.4.100. This way the PC sends a packet to the ftp.corporate.net (192.168.4.100) the ASA recieves the packet and translate it to the (192.168.3.100) and send it out through the DMZ Interface.
Also if the Private Servers wants to reach the same FTP the ASA will act like a proxy-ARP and send the paquet to the DMZ by means of the translation of the IP.
i'm trying to connect 5 servers together to create a private network. Each server has a network of it's own and i'm trying to make all 5 servers communicate with each other to share and search data simultaneously..
I Have exented vlan 120,121 from DC-1 to DC-2,the DC-1 and DC-2 are connected using L2 Trunk over fiber terminated on Cisco 6513 on both site ,the distance around 40 Km ,on the DC-2 i just assigned server-1 TO VLAN 120 while server-2 in vlan 121 ,but these servers unable to communicate neither with DC-1 Servers or betwen them locally on DC-2 ,pls note that the servers at dc-2 rely on DC-1 for routing.
Everytime I make a config change to one of the contexts on our ACE20, I get this message: Config Application in Progress. This command is queued to the system
i configured pix 525 for easy vpn. About 100 to 200 people will use this service. i dont have much knowledge about radius and tacacas servers. Is local data base enough for extended authentication or should i configure the server for it ?
I need to generate an ODBC connection to the upm Datasource on LMS 4.1 running on Win2K8. I have successfully built connections to cmf, ipm and rmeng, however UPM keeps failing saying that the Database is not found.
Here are my settings.
Driver = CiscoWorks Embedded Database ODBC Tab - Data source name = upm ODBC Tab - Description = Device Performance Login Tab - Supply user ID and Password is selcted Login Tab - User ID = lmsdatafeed (i have tried DBA as well) Login Tab - Password = set using the password I estabplished with the dbaccess.pl and dbpasswd.pl scripts Database.Server name = upmEng Network.TCP/IP = HOST=<lms server ip>;DOBROADCAST=NO;ServerPort= 43800
I validated the server port using netstat -a -b -o and matching up the PID with the UPMDBEngine process shown in the LMS Manage Processes window.Windows firewalls on the remote machine and the LMS server are off.
If i have a database on access 2007 containing around 1500 products how could i link this to a web site so that the item has the correct price and when an item is sold directly from the site the stock level reduces.what programs would I need and how would I set it up. I have little experience in this field and generally deal with hardware
We are using CWLMS 2.6 on a UNIX machine. And recently we changed the SNMP String to our network devices. One of L2 switches keeps logging the following message:
%SNMP-3-AUTHFAIL: Authentication failure for SNMP req from host 10.x.x.1
Where 10.x.x.1 is ciscoworks LMS server. I found a solution on many sites that suggest resetting DFM database. I stopped first the daemon manager and tried to apply the perl script:
Can't locate CRM.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/perl5/5.6.1/lib/sun4-solaris-64int /usr/perl5/5.6.1/lib /usr/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/sun4-solaris-64int /usr/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/perl5/site_perl /usr/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1/sun4-solaris-64int /usr/perl5/vendor_perl/5.6.1 /usr/perl5/vendor_perl .) at dbRestoreOrig.pl line 31. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at dbRestoreOrig.pl line 31.
CRM.pm already exists in the path ENV{NMSROOT}/lib/perl/db
At line 31 of dbRestoreOrig.pl – the error – I found the following:
push(@INC, "$ENV{NMSROOT}/cgi-bin/dbadmin/pdbadmin"); use lib "$ENV{NMSROOT}/lib/perl/db";
I gave the system the path of NMSROOT and run the script again but it gives me the same error “Can't locate CRM.pm”
we are desperately trying to set a custom password of our WCS database in order to use it for direct SQL queries (Cumbersome over Web surface). To my knowledge there is a way to reset it however this password would be randomly generated and not available in plain text.
Until version 6 there was a feature to directly set a password via the dbadmin command.
I have done a WCS 7.0.220.0 to NCS migration prior to moving to Prime 1.2. I followed the instructions to export the WCS database via the export.bat all command and exported the database. However, when I import this zip fileto NCS there do not seem to be any of the original WCS templates. All the maps and AP details have migrated but no templates.
I have tried the export again and ploughed through the resultant zip file looking for anything that looks like template files but there is nothing immediately apparent that looks like templates.
I tried to change my password for rmeng using the following command: ./dbpasswd.pl dsn=rmeng encryption=yes npwd=NEWPASSWORD
Here is the output from the dbpwdChange.log INFO: Start changing password for database 'rmeng'... Thu Sep 29 14:51:18 GMT 2011> INFO: New userinfo updated into database
Recently I installed LMS 4.1 accidentally on the c-drive, which, as a result, fills itself with a growing database and associated logfiles. How can I move both items to another drive safely? I allready managed to move configs and downloaded software.
