Belkin storage manager sees my 8Gb flash drive for a split second and the pops up a message about unmounting. When it connects for a split second it shows up wit a drive letter, but then disappears again.

Swapping cable modem SB5101 that has been working for years for newer one SB6121. F5D8235-4 v2000 router has been working with SB5101 for years. When I connect using same cable/etc. Router cannot get DNS/IP from ISP (Comcast). Cable modem works directly connected to my laptop. Switched back to SB5101 and works again flawlessly. FW on router is 2.01.07. Had comcast tech support as well as comcast tech onsite- no resolution. I did activate new modem thru ISP (even with them here doing it).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a F5D8235-4 N+ router and I am trying to connect my Seagate Free Agent hard drive to the USB port on the router so that I can access it on all my network computers. When I first hooked it up, it worked. Now, the drive is lit up like it is working, and when I enter \192.168.2.1 I can see it, however my Windows 7 computer is unable to access it (even though this is the same computer that accessed it when I first hooked it up). The computer I am using is running Windows 7 and is connecting to the network wireless.

Comcast technician says modem is fine, but router appears to be the problem. Cannot find the extension .bin to download upgraded firmware and I don't know whether or not that will work. The problem is, I have to reboot the thing numerous times throughout the day to allow a client to connect to it via wireless. One client will be connected and then drop, or a client will be connected, and I cannot connect another device. I also had an issue with streaming over wireless for netflix on my devices and the only way I could get it to work was to turn off the firewall, what the hek.... This is crap. I knew I should not have bought a belkin router again. Had one years ago and it constantly gave me issues. Had my Linksys Wrt54G for years with no problems until it finally crapped out. Anyways, my firmware version is the latest version according o the website.

I am trying to set up the network configuration on the NAS drive so I can have internet access to the drive. My question is do I manually define the IP address, subnet mask, DNS, and gateway or do I select DHCP. If so what addresses should I use the address of the NAS drive form the router or the router address. I think I need to use the manual fields and use a static IP but do I get that IP address from the router or from my ISP (comcast)?

It worked, computer connected to the Belkin via wire was getting IP address from DHCP on main router. But: The Belkin device itself became invisible. I lost connection to Belkin device via config page via HTTP. It does not respond to any IP address so I actually cannot use it for purpose I wanted to set up secondary Wi-fi, I just cannot configure it. Also I wanted to use USB ports of the Belkin to connect external drives. I cannot do it as well. More over it does not go back. It does not reset to the original router option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a the aforementioned router set up with one PC laptop connected via ethernet cable and two to five other devices (PC laptops, iPhone, iPad, Linux Laptop) connected at any given time. About once or twice a week the router drops the network. I can still see the SSID, but can't connect on any device. The wired laptop gets dropped as well. I tried to ping its IP, but it says the device is unreachable. The only solution is to walk upstairs and unplug the router, which fixes it every time until a few days later when it happens again. I've restored factory settings a number of times.
