My Router is incredibly slow, what can I do?I currently have a D-Link DSL-2680. My ISP is TalkTalk.I have had problems with it since day 1, I had it running at one point on 300Kbs when downloading, and for me that was good. But now I am running 9.8Kbs when downloading and sometimes slower. I did a speed test and that reports speeds of 0.2Mbs.I have done a tracert and it's results were;Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6000].

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor about a month or two now, I've not been able to connect to my router's admin page @ 192.168.1.1 I am using a D-Link DSL-2680 router.
Whenever I go to connect to 192.168.1.1 in my Web Browser, it just sits there trying to connect and does nothing. But eventually after some minutes I get the error: 'This web page is not available The web page at http://192.168.1.1/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.' Here is a screenshot:
I tried pressing the reset button on the back of my router, but it would just sit there with the green power LED and another green LED just flashing constantly (I assume this is the ethernet 1 cable LED) and this happens for more than 10 minutes.
All I want to do is just port forward my game servers again without the use of Hamachi or other programs
Sometimes when I leave my D-Link DSL-2680 router on for a long time it keeps disconnecting and the internet and DSL light turn red or they are blank. sometimes happens randomly as well. My ISP is TalkTalk but their customer service is crap and they're too slow to respond.

View 5 Replies View RelatedNow I am no techi but I think i have set evrything up ok but when i input my host name in ie all that happens is that it brings up my router admin page. I don't see how i can get port forwarding wrong so thats not the problem, the dvr is a zeus and its using port 80, which according to a port checking tool is closed (is that the problem) the router is a Dlink dsl 2680. My host name is [url]..... and the ip is set to public ip address, so up to press im stuck.

The laptop will successfully connect to the internet through an ethernet cable, and will connect to the wireless network fine but when wireless i cannot access the internet. I have an iphone which connects to the wireless network and accesses the web perfectly.I have tried everything I can think of and find online to try and talktalk tech support won't assist as its a hardware setup issue.

I have an broadband connection which does not need a modem to access, i get the CAT5 inthernet cable from the provider. In case if i use it directly on my PCall i have to do is provide username and password under PPPoE and internet works like a breeze.
Now i try to use this 3040 device to use as an wireless router so that i can access internet on multiple devices. How to configure this. I tried in all the three switch options provided with no result at all..I am now using a traditional router from which i connect to Tplink 3g router and using wireless under Access point option...But i would like to use it directly as i can get battery back up so that even when there is no power i can still browse?
I have a Mac and a PC in my home wireless network. ATT Uverse provides me with 16 MB/s internet access. I use the ATT wireless modem/router.With the Mac my download speed is almost 16 MB/s so everything seems working well.With my PC (WIN XP) the download speed is limited to less than 6 MB/s. I know that there is a way to allow my PC to speed up but I do not know how.

I have recently had problems with slow broadband speeds on my PC. I appear to be getting upto 2mbps when I should be getting close to 40mb. I have been in contact with Sky and they are now sending me a new router, but I now think its not a router problem because I put on my Sony Blu ray player which is connected to the router and loaded up a movie in crackle and its showing that im getting 28mbps & the Xbox 360 doesnt appear to be lagging with any speed issues.I have scanned PC with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware & Spybot - Search & Destroy and a virus scan with Avast which bring up nothing.Also upto a week ago i was using Microsoft security essentials but during a scan it stopped working and kept switching off. There isn't anything else available where I live, and don't even get me started on satellite Internet .What I'd like to do is have an Internet connection with a wireless router with dual band frequencies and at least 4 gigabyte switch ports to share a NAS device that I'm going to buy in the near future along with a printer and surveillance camera. That way I don't have to have multiple wireless devices to connect to for what I want to be able to do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can i prevent my Vodafone usb stick device to enter in 3G mode when the network is very low usage or not at all. If i open google for example, it turns automatically on HSUPA mode with a better speed, but if im doing nothing after 1min or so it goes back on 3G more slower speed. So the 3G / HSUPA mode is auto switched depending on demand based on how much speed is needed at that moment. I am playing an online game and the network usage by the game when im inside playing it, is not in that range to trigger the HSUPA mode, and just stay in 3G causing me to have lots of lag, is there a workaround for this so when im playing the game to be connected with HSUPA instead of 3G? ( i was thinking about some kinda of slow trafic generator that generates a litle trafic continuously to trigger that HSUPA mode while im playing, but not sure if is possible and also not too much to affect my conection speed which is slow anyway on a mobile) You can see in the picture, the ping on google while its both modes, as u can see 3-5times ping increase while its on 3G. Every time I try it.Router is good and signal is excellent but the admin router pages to configure are frustratingly slow.As a techie it is anoying, as a customer getting support by the hour spend more on a faster better quillity router were the work can be done in 1/20th of the time it takes on this router.I'd say I have a dud but once setup the router is a great performer if you do not need to admin the router further?

My wired connection speed stayed the same but my wireless speed degraded significantly - roughly from 5-8mbps to 200-300kbps.I measured my wireless speed both on win7 laptop and iPad. My Roku box is also struggling. All devices were in the proximity of the router.I tried changing encryption (WEP/WPA2/no encryption), mode (from b/g/n to b/g to just g), and different channels. View 4 Replies View RelatedI had my Dir-655 router for over a year & this is is a first.My firmware is 1.21 & I only use my router for gaming when I'm not on my PC for home use. I have only one PC in the house that is not shared, I have also not downloaded any virus or maleware.So the past month I decided to buy a wired ethernet cord to connect to my gaming systems rather than using the wireless option to get an extra bit of speed. That has been working fine up till yesterday when all of a sudden my download speeds dropped from around 20Mb down to barely 1Mb down (I can't even get the speed test site to fully load anymore). The upload & ping remains unchanged though. Only my Download speed is being affected. This is both when I'm on the PC & when I'm online gaming.
I unplugged my D-Link router & plugged my modem directly to my PC & I got back the 20+Mb speed, so the modem or cable company are not at fault (I even called them to see if there were any problems on there end).
-I tried turning off my Firewall on my PC.
-Resetting & rebooting both my modem/router/PC.
-using different DNS numbers.
-using /flushdns.
-using /Iprenew.
-Messing around with my router configurations such as:
turning off QoS Engine.
turning off wireless.
turned of MAC filtering.
unchecked "Add DHCP Reservation".
unchecked SIP.
None of it worked. I'm still browsing at around 56k dial up speed for the past day+!I read up on the internet for similar problems, but the only solutions I saw was turning off the firewall on the PC, but that hasn't worked at all.
This only started about a week ago and everything was working fine before then. My router is causing my internet to be slow (I know this because it goes at normal speed when I am connected directly to my modem)

I've bought a TL-WD841ND and was using it normally.
After I arrived from a trip, the internet speed by wireless and by cable is only 0,5~0,7 Mbps...
My internet connection is 10 Mbps, and if I plug direct on the modem, there comes the real speed (9,7 Mbps), but connecting by the router, the speed is 1/20 of what should be. Before my travel i was using it normal, and no one has changed any configuration.
So i've updated to the last firmware avaliable on the website. So i've rebooted it and the "configuration" LED keeps flashing...

I currently have a issue with my TP-link WR941N.When I first connected the router I had a good internet speeds of about 70 mbps. My max provided by the ISP is 120Mbps but 70 was acceptable for me. Recently however the connection is terrible. I regularly have a speeds of 6Mbps via the router, When i directly to the modem via kabel I get a speed of 120Mbps. Therefore I ruled out that the connectivity problem is due to my ISP.
I have the revision b version of the dir-655. I'm having a couple issues which im not sure if are related to the dir-655 or something else.
I used to be able to do this, then all of the sudden (I may have changed something) I cannot anymore. The issue is: If I try and access my linux server using http://[My Public IP Address]/ from *inside* my LAN, It will time out and not connect. If I try and access my same public ip address from *outside* my LAN, it works fine.
My router was noticeably slow to respond when navigating the menu system. Then, I changed the ip address to 192.168.0.2 (previously it was 192.168.0.1) and all of the sudden its fast again. I tried rebooting and power cycling before I changed the IP and it was always slow using 192.168.0.1.

Just had my line upgraded to 50mbit down, and 10mbit up. Whenever the router is between the PC and the modem, my speeds drop to 30mbit. If i plug directly into the modem, I get the full 50Mbit. Upload speeds are always 10mbit.I've tried power cycling devices, and even replaced all cables with cat6 (which I know isn't the issue, but i'm just trying to eliminate everything)
